God,Barrioth is such a ridiculously retarded fight that has absolutely no place in a game like this.
Barioth was another barrier monster like Barroth was for me. Bringing enough mats for 3 pitfalls and then breaking his claws makes him much more manageable. Also having the patience to wait for him to get tired.

I'm not saying he is hard. I'm saying he is RETARDED. He is unfun, bland and doesn't look cool. He is a waste of monster space.

Uh, no. Barioth is plenty fun, he's dangerous, and he looks a lot better than many other monsters. He's basically a Nargacuga plus a Smilodon. Don't be hatin'

Me too, he beat me this morning solo, I think I'll have to swap to my qbird armor, extra elemental is nice but means shit if I'm getting charge raped (which was nice he hit me 3 times with a dizzy in between never got a chance to move).
At least bar's not like los and I don't feel like I'm not learning his shit, he's just annoying, and trapping him. Such a fucking pain.

I knooooooow. I'm at my desk right now thinking I should craft a Hammer to stun G. Jaggi more easily. And I should stop being a pussy and hunt online now that I've got a lot of Mega Potions on my bag.
I also love long sword, they have high elemental damage, their attacks are pretty sweeping with good range, you even have a short hop horizontal slash to dodge. And when you unleash spirit mode you can increase your damage even more. So beautiful.

Longsword is definitely up there in my favorites right now. The Wyvern Fire is so bad ass. Ha yeah man, the last slash of the spirit combo hits EVERYTHING. It's our version of gigginox stupid neck-stretch attack, where the second swing is about a thousand feet longer than it should be.
Can you break gigginox's head/body with swords, or should I just use my hammer?

I think the sword does impact damage, so you'd be able to hit the heads, now the body I dunno thats in side and you don't have the same type of piercing other weapons do.

By the way, what am I supposed to take with me into any given quest? Mega potions, whetstones, well-done steaks, and hot or cold drinks if necessary? What else? We seem to get paintballs from the supply chest if they're needed. Do people also bring basic potions along too?
In my Opinion...
Things you should bring* Every. Single. Quest.:
10 Potions
10 Mega Potions
10 Well-done Steaks
20 Whetstones (if your melee)
There is no way you should ever need 10 potions in addition to 10 Megas unless you're literally hunting a large monster solo, online, and you've never even seen him before. 10 steaks and 20 whetstones are also overkill, but it's 1 stack so I guess it doesn't matter.
I seem to do ok and I usually just bring either 10 Mega's or 10 Potions depending on what I am facing. Unless I've never faced it before, then I might bring both. I also never bring any steaks.
The two the quest gives me is usually enough. There has only been one time I've ever felt I could use another one.
I do always carry 20 stack of whetstones but mainly because I fill it up to 20 when it gets below 10.
I've never felt I've had a death due to lack of supplies, only lack of skill. Having enough potions to cure the world didn't help me when I misread Lagi and went down.
In high rank, you are dropped in the middle of nowhere most of the time. While you can bring a Farcaster to get to the supply box, I guess, that's a Farcaster on 80% of your missions. You can walk back to the base camp, but that's generally an unwarranted waste of time when you could be spending that time hunting, not to mention that the monster is often between you and the supply box. Bringing your own Steaks is a timesaver, in this regard.
When you are running High Rank, you better be running 10 of both Potions and Mega Potions. It's always good to be prepared, and topping off your health with a regular Potion every now and then when you take nick damage will prevent you from being one-shotted by a large charge attack or tail whip. Hell, I even bring Lifepowders so when my allies are in the middle of combat and cannot break out a potion, I can save them the trouble and heal them (and myself) before going back into the fray.
I'm still crappy so I bring 10 10 on every mission. Its also just easier on weaker missions to pop a regular potion and save my megas for tougher fights (being able to buy them from the store makes it easier).

^^^ Agreed. 10 / 10 and I focus on my regular pots first since you can always buy more at the store. Unless you know you need to harvest on the quest, I see no reason why not to bring a good amount of supplies. I will leave bombs that have no effect on the monster to declutter my item bar, but besides that I come prepared. Everyone should have paintballs, pitfalls, tranqs as back up. We def always try to use the EZ stuff first obviously, but if that fails its nice knowing you're still set.

Is the 4 Jaggi quest significantly harder than G Jaggi are in SP? I was thinking about hopping in it.
They take more to go down, and can dish a little better online. But its a gauntlet fight, soon as you kill one another appears. You also can have a qbird show up and give you shit.

This will actually be my first set of fights against him but he's been in my sights for a while as I not only want his armor, I also need parts from him for multiple weapon upgrades.

Always bring tranq bombs, even if you're not the one with traps (you should have traps).
Always.
I found out the hard way what happens when your fellow hunters get knocked off your plateau and the monster walks into the trap only to escape and kill you all because you couldn't tranq it

Except Narga was the second coolest looking monster in Unite, so try again :P.
