So in a semi-related note, I'm running a DnD 4e game. Level 11 game. The party's going through some snowy mountains en route to some ancient ruints. On the way there (and at several points in the ruins...) they're going to run into this:
I'm tempted to convert monsters into Pokemon. Pikachu is going to have to learn to share Volt Tackle.
Well, today I'll be trying again. I spent the weekend trying to get to 4* by raising my HR to 31 after doing my Moran Urgent, only to get greeted by an unbelievable amount of disconnects and connection errors. Once, I got left alone against a Gigginox as a support Gunner because the connections of the other two guys failed, still managed to get it capture point, and got a connection error as I was setting the trap down! I've not played for a couple days just out of sheer annoyance.

That is awesome. I especially like that he roars as soon as he is bloodied. Very cool.
Just ran my first Deviljho run without knowing thats what everyone was doing. I was wondering why were doing a 25 jaggi quest. In anycase we whittled at it and whittled at it until it decided to kill the last jaggi to complete the quest! Well in a rage someone dropped a trap and we all hacked at it like mad hoping to at least get a carve. My last sword swing popped its tail! I start carving and get a Deviljho Gem! I could not stop cackling for like 5 minutes. I can now make my ancient SnS. Im just debating on if i should.

Definitely. At first I thought I was going to have a hard time building him. Running through a bunch of dragons in the Adventure Tools Creature Creator, I started off with a decent base template. From there, I adjusted some stats (Namely dumbing it down. 21 int? Please.), refluffed it as a reptilian natural beast, removed some attacks, threw in a bunch of powers from a few other creatures (Mostly dragons. A couple otherwise), modified them a bit... and bam. Tigrex 4e was born. Creature building is fun. I should do more Monster Hunter beasties.
Derp. My internet decided to turn itself off for an hour. But, I got a terrifying chat leak to present to the thread.
Ceres AKA WAH is going to try to solo Alatreon. Good lord.
I gave it a try. Abandoned after 25 minutes. It was going nowhere. Alatreon moves around too much for me to do enough damage with a lance. I can see it working with a high damage weapon like a great sword or hammer though.

11 is pretty extreme as it is. It'll probably be smarter than half the party, and would be expected to use tactics to match, instead of blindly rushing them. Stuff like waiting until they're asleep, grabbing someone, and then flying off, or waiting until they're next to a cliff to attack and knocking people off, or triggering avalanches.
Does 4e still stick with the convention that animals have less than 3 int?

I'm honestly not too sure. You figure a big, nasty wyvern like a Tigrex would definitely have some sort of cunning to it, despite how much of a nasty brute it is.

Couple suggestions to make it more Tigrex-y.
I'd make the roar a smaller close burst, and give him something similar to Remorhaz's Trample attack, all that would need to be changed is the numbers would need to be scaled down since Remorhaz is a level 21 Brute.
Trample (standard; at-will)
The remorhaz moves its speed and can enter enemies' spaces.
The remorhaz makes an attack against each enemy whose
space it enters: +22 vs. Reflex; 2d10 + 5 damage, and the target
is knocked prone.
Anyway, to get back on topic... finally finished my Bastion Blitz SA tonight! I love being able to paralyze things in two elemental discharges, and even being the only one with a paralyze weapon I've been able to paralyze some stuff twice.
Paired it with the low rank Rathalos stuff gemmed for Reckless Abandon +3 so that I've got 5% affinity.
Interesting little fact I noticed too, when you start doing the repeated overhead swings with the SA, it uses the same "affinity read" for all hits in the chain. So if you're lucky enough for the attack to crit, it's all considered one attack and every single hit crits. Rathian died so bad.
So, I'm preparing to fight my first Qurupeco, and I'm repeating The Deadliest Catch over and over to get Pelagicite Ore, Machlite Ore, Iron Ore, and the ingredients for Sonic Bombs. I'm trying to get a Knight's Lance, Rhenalpos plate armor, and a large stock of sonic bombs before fighting this thing.
...am I overpreparing?
Also: why is Monster Fluid so hard to friggin' get? I try to kill bugs with shield bashes, but that explodes them. I try to repeat that 3-star quest, but I miss with the poison gas provided to me. I try to follow the spiders in the Moga Woods, only for a f*******n' Great Jaggi to show up within minutes. I want my Switch Axe, darn it!
i don't think sonic bombs were all that useful. it stops him from dancing/roaring but you can also be using that time to beat on him. watch out when he pounds his wingtips together. and when you inevitably get lit on fire, rolling in water will put you out.
i beat him with jaggi armor and the commanders dagger so you don't need to much

I beat him with half a set of Jaggi armour and (I think) the Buster Sword; or whatever early GS doesn't have green sharpness, but it did take my ~47 minutes (+killing the G.Jaggi) so if you've got a slightly better weapon it shouldn't be too hard.

To get monster fluid, look for gatherer altaroths (the little ant guys) in areas 2 and 3 of Moga Woods. When they gather materials, their sacks fill up. Killing them when they're filled gives a 20% chance to drop monster fluid.

Anyone online? I'll be sitting in Vent, doing some offline farming and playing...uuung... randoms
Anyone want to run Deviljoe around 7pm CST tonight for a couple hours? I'm having trouble finding groups and I hate soloing him. Needs 3 gems still, and maybe even 4. Killed him 15 times so far without luck.
Does anyone have tips on how to kill a Uraagan with a SnS or Hammer? I've been trying to kill him for the whole afternoon yesterday >_> Brought everything I thought could be of help including L Barrel Bombs, tons of flash bombs, shock traps, etc. Was slaughtered in 10 minutes :x Any tips?

If you can make one, make a poison sns (takes some giginox parts). And just hit and run poison him. Sure it'll take a while but you'll bring him down.

I would like some money because these are artisanal nuggets of wisdom philistine.
You need to learn how to approach him. If you're playing solo you run around him to the right in a tight circle.
When he does his big jaw drop you you make a large circle to attack the edge of the tail area, because otherwise you will get hit or earthquaked.
When he does his 270 degree tail swipe you make a tight circle to his backside then swing at the abdomen.
When he does his multiple chin pound you make a medium circle and swing at the abdomen.
When he releases gas you attack the tip of the tail because the gas does not reach that far. I believe you can also hit the head with a hammer if you do it from max range (haven't tested it).
When he does his roll just run out of the way.
When he does his roll in rage made run out of the way, then superman dive when he zips back around.
When he does his roll in his lair just run to the edge of the zone line, it can't hit you there.

By the way, thread moved way too fast! Spend like 3 hours farming Thunderbugs when I realized the stupid Argosy sold them.
Got my new Barroth SA and TONS of herbs, blue mushrooms and flashbugs. Gotta start farming those Huskberrys when I get home and Honey. NEED TONS of Honey. Also, time to farm Barroth to upgrade this nifty thing to the next level.
By the way, is there any reason at all to get Pitfall Traps when Shock Traps are easier to craft/farm mats?

When a monster drools if you pitfall trap them they stay in there forever. For monsters with face breaks this is prime time to break them open (like lag, diablos, even the royal lud).

Hey, question: How could I take a screenshot of gameplay without photographing my screen? Are there any homebrew apps that allow the option?
So I assume my attempt is faithful to the game?
I'm pretty sure you can hook up your Wii to a video capture card and just snapshot it via software from that.
Eh, it needed something like that. Just think of it as a massive, sonic roar.
