You give someone a few hundred bucks for custom tailored outfits and an HD camera, and you get 3 minutes that are better than 3 hours of garbage from Steve de Souza and Andrzej Bartkowiak combined that cost $85 million.
EDIT: Love the focus attack at 1:44 haha.
Not bad, but it lacked something.
Oh it lacked something all right...about 1 hour 57 more minutes!

Probably the best video of SF I've seen yet. The characters were very well played!
Gotta love the enhanced eyebrows from both Ryu and Ken.
The fighting was very realistic and I love the focus attack, because that move really would only work in real life with a high kick blocked.
A semi-realistic take, with a low budget spin. Worthy of praise. I'd like to see more with a larger budget, but I'm somewhat pessemistic that with more money thrown at it, the worse it'd get.
I like that the Tatsu was short and was nothing more than an enhanced jumping spin kick. They probably realized that having an actor spin around in the air towards his opponent doesn't translate well into real life. Course, that could have just been an empty Tatsu, meant to close gap to set up a throw or a SRK, not to actually connect. Also, Ken needs more forward mk spamming.
The effects were pretty much garbage, but they probably blew all their cash on decent outfits, a high def camera, and professional fighters that could put on a good show and actually spoke japanese. Having said that, you can't really diss the actors for their appearance because I'm sure it was difficult finding actors that met all the required criteria to play Ryu and Ken while on a small budget.
Did anyone notice ryu do a jumping fierce in the movie. I like the little details, but I didn't really care for the effects. Once ryu started shooting fireballs I was like oh man he's zoning.
Because I was reminded in IRC that I've only shown in-progress works on this stick and not the finished product:
Maybe not "finished". It's mostly functional and all, just a few technical tweaks to go. Gotta order a new small IC for the ChImp board to get it to work for PS3/PC, need a hex inverter IC to get rid of that trigger glitch, and I'm thinking of seeing if there's some way to get an optical joystick to work in this setup, which would solve the insentitive diagonals issue. Or I might just replace the microswitches, as there's no diagonal-sensitivity problem on my other Happ joystick of the exact same make and model.

Which should be easy to get around since all you have to do is take a sidestep. :P

Woo won my first ranked game (only took 3 matches!). Took down a Juri with my Sakura! I was super close to taking down a Sagat player, too, but he eeked out the win.
I, however, hate Hakan. Damn that oily man and his slide/bodyslam combo. *shakes fist*
It's not really a combo, it's just one move really.
Huh? Ibuki's EX Neckbreaker is a 3 hit combo and it's only one move, don't get too picky
I think he was referring to my post about Hakan's slide/bodyslam
I mean, it's not a hard move to avoid by any means, but nothing makes me rage more than when they time it to make it damn near impossible to do anything else, except get tortured time after time after time, with no recovery time.

Don't feel bad, I was having basically the same issue with Ibuki's neckbreaker and Juri's pinwheels the last few nights. They are supposed to both be extremely unsafe on block, but somehow I'm screwing up the timing and not getting a punish out.
Has worked in my favor though. Several times I have escaped punish on Hayates that were blocked when I really shouldn't have.
Good games last night to the people I had a lobby with.
Having Cammy pull off her counter ultra while I was in the air with my foot sticking out, then having to watch whole thing as it killed me, was the best/worst thing to happen to me in a while.
Almost as good as the Fei Long mirror match.
Also, Makoto's cock punch ultra is buillshit. I threw out a crouch HP (Blanka) at the very limit of its range. She ultra, nicked the end of my fist, then teleported into ball socking range. It was terrible.

I was playing Seth against my friend's Dudley. He did a random full screen ultra 2 (corkscrew cross) while I was in the air. I figured I'd j.HP him for the win and I punched his boxing glove and proceeded to warp into his full animation ultra.

Being hit didn't bother me; it was an unsafe move, but it should have been a partial hit. Something like Ryu's shin shoruken when it doesn't quite connect all the way.
How the fuck do uploading/saving replays work in this? Why can't they just use Blazblues system of replays?
After you win a certain number of matches, the game deems you worthy to upload.
It still does not upload a match, however, until you face someone who has also won a few matches and was also deemed worthy by the game.
The film canister turns red and starts filming at this point when two worthy people meet.
I think it's to try and get high quality matches by worthy people instead of mostly junk.
So, there's only half-junk.
I refuse to upload whenever I do stupid stuff .
Does anyone else go into a full on mini panic attack when you know it's a filmed match? Like I better not do anything dumb here or someone will watch it and think I am awful.
Or am I the only one with a crippling desire to have strangers think I can be awesome?
thepassenger/ohvermie, otokko, nemlock: good matches last night. Four people in a room is a nice sweet spot.
ohvermie: you clearly outclass me. Every victory against you is awesome.
I really like Chun-Li, but I feel like most of the time I just get pounded with her.
Thanks. :
Yeah, Chun is good fun. Just stop hopping around all the time with her. I know it's tempting because her air moves are pretty good. Randomly throwing out spinning bird kicks isn't that good of an idea either because that move is so unsafe. Just reserve it for use in combos or EX for anti-air.

Dudley's u2 is actually kind of a great anti air; it comes out fast enough to catch people on his glove and get full ultra.
It's too bad it looks so dumb. U1 looks way better.
Oh also, Dover and chaos hat and you various chun li monsters: I need to play you guys and record some matches. A friend of mine mains chun and I want to show him all her anti bison tricks in action. How to best use backdash, useful anti bison pokes, etc etc.

It would look great if they just made it a Gigaton Blow, which is pretty much what it was before SSFIV and what it looks like when not in the full animation.

I really could care less about the replays. I always deny the request to upload. But I think that's because who gives a crap about a 800BP match. Although I do get a weird tinge of anxiety when I get a message from someone after I lose to them. I just don't like being mocked by strangers, even if the message just says "you suck fag."
I was bored last night and actually looked in the replay channel to see if I can get some hot Ibuki action. Most of the replays were just special move fests. There was one replay with Hugo101 (not sure if that's the same Hugo101 that rolls Bison in CA) with a beast Cody. Seems like there's no ratings system, so I'm not sure how the "cream" videos are supposed to float to the top, or if you're just going to have to wade through total garbage for hours to get randomly served one decent match.

Is there any way to search for characters? I joined the 3s/super characters channel and it just went right into some akuma/fei long replay I had no desire to watch :[ I know about the giant list of recently uploaded replays but there's no way to order them that I could see other than by region.

Okay, ranbat points are updated like it says in the title. Next week we will probably be moving to whole roster, but this next teams (teams week 2) will still be new characters only. I'm debating if I want to reset ranbat points or not and call it a new season. It seems a bit weak to do it after two weeks, but on the other hand, I could see how it's unfair for people who were terrible with new characters and are therefore two weeks behind in points already. This I will ponder upon.

Yeah but ken's gotta be flashy and jump over it.

3v3 going now, round robin. I'm going to be here damn late. I'm usually in the chat but no commentary atm
Pretty awesome offense, you can really mess up opponent's heads using crossup kunai, command dash and raida. Easy to get through fireballs, too.
Didnt try Cammy's changes for long, but standing far hk seems very useful now.

There is no defense!
So you're saying that Makoto has a thing for green balls?
Well, her alt costume is some sort of farmer outfit, so I shouldn't be surprised.
