I am using my boss's computer for the time being, and the mouse is set up over a Wacom Graphire 4 tablet. The mouse is a Wacom as well, which I thought was a pretty cool set up until this morning. Today, the mouse is jittery -- even left alone with no one near the table, the cursor wiggles slightly back and forth and vertically. I reinstalled the drivers for the tablet, but I was wondering if this is a common problem or if anyone had an idea how to fix it. I'm in OS X, if it makes a difference.

If your boss also has an optical mouse hooked up, make sure that the optical mouse is on a flat non-reflective surface. Also make sure that only the mouse is on the tablet and that the pen isn't anywhere around.
I get the same problem, but it's almost always because I pushed my optical mouse out of the way and over some weird surface when I pulled out my tablet.
I moved the pen to the other side of the room, but no luck. I don't think the mouse is optical -- it's a Wacom mouse that only works while it's in contact with the tablet, so I'm assuming it's pressure sensitive or something. I tried cleaning the surfaces of both.
it's no help to the problem, but i just felt i should say a quick thanks to everyone that advised i get a Graphire XL Classic. It arrived yesterday, and is an awesome thing to use. Now i just need to learn to draw.
Good luck solving the issue, though :-\

Did you have a thread asking for tablet advise? If so, would you mind linking? I'm strongly considering one with my birthday cash. I haven't actively done anything artistic for over 10 years thanks to the lack of time & cash to get back into oil painting like I used to do, so I thought a tablet and a decent piece of software might be good to get the old juices flowing again.
