CF SUMMER SANTA MID-YEAR MADNESS 2010!
Posts
Woo! I'm glad everything made it there in one piece.

Thanks for the kommandos! I'm pretty pumped to fit them in to my army, I've wanted to use em ever since I saw the codex entry. Also, is that Snikrot that came with them?
Notes regarding thanks: your package came on the same day I left for a 5-day camping trip in the desert, and I couldn't get into my apartment complex's office to get the thing for another couple, so sorry you got left on the hook wondering if the thing arrived or not. Also, I am a luddite and have no digital camera.
To my Santee, your gift should be going out either today or tomorrow.
My gift was ordered and shipped today. It's from an independent company who just started this RPG. I played it recently at a con and it is pretty awesome. I hope you enjoy it. If not, I promise to make it up to you and we'll work something out. I hate for someone to get something and not like what they got, especially if it was from me.
Great, glad to hear they made it safely.
And yeah, that's Snikrot. Heard he liked to run with kommandos...
Edit: Also, hope you enjoyed your camping trip. I try to avoid out doors as much as possible. I understand there are bears out there.
You sir, truly are Mister Incredible.
I got a box!
Why is the smile scored out at the edges? Ohgod I got the Joker as my Santa
Oh, OK, not a set of exploding false teeth or anything, just a big note. But wait! It's from everyone's favourite wizarding detective, Harry Dresden!
Things are looking awesome.
I investigate the first layer of the box and find: Conspiracy X!
I have been a huge fan of X-Files style stuff and so this is right up my alley. Secret deals with aliens, psychic powers and enigmatic men smoking inside government buildings galore!
And next up we have, er ...
Someone's been doing their research very well. I'll, um, be in my bunk ... :winky:
But hold, Midgardian! Surely thou dost recall what was in the next layer of the box, aye? 'Tis the Marvel Super Heroes RPG!
I loved loved loved playing this in my schooldays and I am super-pumped to finally have a copy of my very own! And even better, I know who I can play as.
Next up we have sparkly vampires!
Whaddya mean no sparkles? Oh well, it's still an awesome, awardwinning Angel RPG corebook!
All right, I admit I secretly want to be undead, have great hair and an excuse to mope about for hundreds of years.
AND FINALLY, we have the bottom of the box!
Now wait up, that's Scion: Demigod! If I can't be a mopey sparkly vampire then I'll take being a semidivine ass-kicker, so this will do very nicely.
mightyspacepope, you are indeed a wonderful Santa! Thank you very much for your well thought out gifts - I know that I didn't give you an awful lot to work with, but you've managed to hit the spot with every present* and the Dresden-themed notes were fabulously voiced. Many many thanks!
* Particularly with Lynda Carter's picture. Ahem.
For those of you not in the loop, the message I got about Wildcat mentioned really digging the Dresden RPG and being interested in something in that vein or something with interesting backstory/setting.
Conspiracy X: I really like the Unisystem. I also like the setting and hints of story ideas that the core book of Conspiracy X gives you. I think it also presents some decent information about the various spy/government agencies out there and how you could include them in your game. I've also had a lot of success running a vanilla spy game using this system, without any paranormal stuff at all. It would totally be my first choice for an X-Files/Fringe game, though.
Marvel FASERIP: Upon stalking you for a bit, it looked like you posted quite a bit in GV. After doing some research, it seemed like this was one of the more highly regarded superhero rpgs out there.
Angel RPG: I love the Cinematic Unisystem even more than vanilla unisystem. I used this book to run a game during WWII in the Buffyverse. Hands down, it was the most fun I've had playing an RPG. Even if you're not a fan of the Buffy/Angel series, it handles that sort of heroic supernatural horror campaign really well. It would also be my go-to system for playing relatively low-powered or street level supers as well. Combat is really fun and cinematic.
Demigod: I really like the idea of Scion, but the mechanics are too clunky and complicated for my liking. I saw that you had Hero, and I really liked the stuff that Demigod added. I really like the section about the underworlds of the various mythologies and the cool new enemies it gives you to fight.
Use them well!
Because that is awesome, but I fear it's awesomeness would be underappreciated in the awesome post forum.
Edit: This may be my worst TotP ever.
And an update for my santee. Having received your present after it was backordered. There is a rather glaring miscast in the plastic. Motherfuck.
I've emailed the suppliers and either you'll get twice as much fun, or I'm going to have to put on my techmarine hat and servo-harness.
I am a sly fox, aren't I? (or something, definitely something...). The advantage of fiddling around with essentially every army in the game at any given point means it's hard to tell when I'm working on something that ISN'T for my own edification...
One of these days I'm just going to start sending stuff out in custom foam trays, because that seems to be the only way I can get stuff to ship intact. Was the piece off the hull one of those curved pieces from the side near the engine? I had my worries about them too.
Also, for the R weapons, the pins are such a tight fit because otherwise they liked to sag. Anyway, I hope it serves you well. And Merry Christmas in July!
Now to learn the ways of the Dragon-spawned!
And to my Santee, order should be shipping out presently.
Hint: If anyone can make this unit work, it'll be you.
I hope its a decent set of models, as I know nothing about Hordes or Warmachine... It seemed like it should be a solid start, though!
I'll try to get as much painted as possible in the next few days, and ship it out next monday after I get paid(as I have no money at the moment). However, I will be throwing in a surprise gift, something that I recently thought of, so hopefully that will make up for my failure to paint my entire gift.

Imperial Guard :winky:
I need a 4th army
Well, this day and age, it may not be entirely too hard, I guess
Anyway, since Gabe signed the line that said, 'some other dude is going to get this,' and not only am I 'some other dude,' I just happen to live at the same address he does, I don't think there's going to be an issue. If I have to give an explanation, it's really not going to be _that_ complicated. 'I'm a member of a message board, and we do a secret santa gift exchange every summer - my Santa used my online handle instead of my real name, probably so I'd know right away it was from the secret santa exchange.'
Also part two of three will be heading out there soon as well.

What did I get? I got things. 3 things which are great and appreciated, but one stands out among them, Armor Through the Ages. These dudes are so cool and kinda give me a connection to the history of the hobby. I only started within the past couple of years, so seeing these guys is pretty awesome.
Along with those awesome marines, I got a squad of guardsmen and a gkt! Both will see use ever so soon as they are added to my glorious army.
THANKS BUDDY!
Oh man now I'm thinking about going further back, maybe making my IG imperial army instead and just running with the whole pre-heresy thing. Argghhhhh so cool.
The box proved to be a difficult opponent at best, but I was victorious in the battle.
OMG Noise Maweens!
These will fit perfectly in my Slaanesh army, and they are the last squad I should need before delving into transports!
The only name in the box was Matthew, so I'm not sure who that is on here, but THANK YOU!
Apologies for not sending something painted; I intended to, but then interviewing for jobs and finding a new place to live and blah blah blah got in the way.
(First shipment should be going out soon, has been paid for!)
Groovy, I'm glad you like them. I basically just picked based on what I liked. I mean, who needs more berzerkers when you can have giant speakers in the shape of dicks blasting jamiroquai so loud that your opponents jizz themselves to death?
Colin, whoever you are, you're AWESOME!
Woot, it arrived!
The arm-mountings are a little fiddly/ugly but hopefully that can be patched up without much effort. I was running low on time.
I'm looking at you here, Wildcat.
