So I just lost about 6 games in a row to Ryougi. I just can't seem to get my macro down, I am constantly supply locked, overflowing with minerals, forgetting to build SCVs, forgetting to build structures. It all falls apart after into mid game.
Oh and Ryo does this neat thing where he wins every single fight with superior micro, no matter what.
I beat him a couple times in a PvP but it was very close and I'm not sure what I did different between the wins and the losses except that he harassed my probe lines a ton more in the later games and I wasn't so great at rebuilding them.
His Phoenix micro is unbelievably solid.
I played a bunch of games against Ryougi a few days ago; what is his name on PA?
Destroying a Nydus Network as soon as the Zerg loads up their entire army trying to be sneaky. Maybe they should have noticed that Observer overhead
Did you destroy both sides?
If that ever happens to you, you can build a new network to rescue your units.
iowa is an FFA bully.
Yeah, what happened was I destroyed the Nydus Network in the Zerg Base before the Worm could burst through into my base or perhaps even be placed in my base. All I know is when I finished obliterating the structure, the Zerg just did nothing as I walked all over his base... I think he was rather dumbfounded.

I wonder why protoss who try to proxy in base never think to defend their own base.
And when I finally beat him, he says 'gg me'. So I wonder if he's saying he fucked up, or if he somehow thinks what I did crossed a line that he didn't cross himself?
i find great enjoyment over crushing peoples plans. At least one dude will go in planning a booya fast expand that my tribe of reaper bullys will take out making him rage quit.
then at least one dude will have a bizarre plan that will make you lol when you see it. like surround base with cannons or mass phoenix or something.
then you get to come up with your own perfectly executed plan to take out the last guy who turtled. next time ima try mass PF float in covered by ravens.

When I used the whole Toss strategy of making Photon Cannons in my opponents base my opponent said it was the "Faggot way to win". I also got one that was just "fuck you" can't remember what I did though (it wasn't anything like the cheese in the faggot way to win one though)

Nope; he was toss. The only fight during that game where I was shooting upwards was a push I made up his ramp in which three or four stalkers faced a couple dozen marines. I would have won that fight with an 80% miss chance.

I actually did start getting a lot of "gg wp" when i started using infestors a lot. That will probably change since i'm moving to fast expand, infinite roach/hydra now.
People do seemed impressed with a lot of infestor usage. I think mostly because they start crying when their thors turn around and murder their MMM ball and shoot down medivacs.

pro-tip: planetary fortress rushing does not work against T, but it looked so fun.

I've done the siege tank thing myself, though—once. My opponent rolled an MM ball up to my wall-in and I had foolishly placed my tank in shooting range. Pew pew and I lost.

Good use of infestors is respectable; it takes actual thought. The same is true for most casters, actually, although FF micro used to be awfully easy when everyone massed sentries anyway.
Things I hate losing to:
1) I fuck up my wall-in and zerglings run past. I almost never have this problem anymore, but man it used to annoy me. Not my opponent's fault, either.
2) The reaper proxy. Super annoying.
3) Void ray rush. I've done pretty well against this now that I start every game with the assumption that it's going to happen, though.
Just getting back into the groove after a multi-week break, took 2 losses in my placement match. One to a mass DT drop, another to a void ray rush.
Would like to know a good terran counter to the ray rush. He had hidden his stargate and I only spotted it just as his rays were hitting my base and there is like no counter besides excessive turreting and maybe vikings.
Marines work against uncharged void rays (so if you're attacking him you're probably ok; if he's attacking you you'd better see him coming ahead of time or he'll charge up on a building).
Ghosts+marines can make a better show of it; with EMP at least you'll do some permanent damage every time he tries to snipe something.
Really, though, what you want are marines + vikings. Even one or two vikings changes things drastically because he can't sit back and snipe marines from range. If he comes in to kill the viking, the marines will kill the void rays.

Marines only counter uncharged void rays. Charged void rays demolish marines unless outnumbered like 10 to 1.
And at that point its not really countering so much as just overwhelming with numbers.
And to fight charged void rays with vikings you need at least 2-1 odds in your favour or you will still die.
Hacksaw and I were using a fantastic PP v PP strategy last night. Not that I think we came up with it first, but we didn't consult any outside source so I'm pretty pleased with how well it works. Essentially we both wall our choke against a zergling or zealot early harass/rush, and tech. I tech to stalkers and get four gates + expansion + four more gates, plus researching blink and weapon upgrades, and he techs to Immortals with two robo facilities and pumps Immortals.
It only really works against PP so far, we think it might work against PT but PZ would be completely out as Zerglings would counter Immortals and Stalkers so hard.
Remember cost for cost: 250/150/3 vs 50/0/1. Costwise you can get about 5 marines per void, So yea...

I tried to watch Orb's stream just now. It's playing some TvT with a guy and girl commentating, and I managed about five minutes before the commentary made me want to break something. I swear, the girl said "I have no idea" [what's about to happen] about eight times. To be fair, it was a TvT devoid of tanks or vikings (Thorship vs. marine marauder ghost), so it was less than standard, but UGH.
Controlled for minerals you get 5x1. Controlled for gas is undefined. Controlled for total resources you get 8. Controlled for food you get 3.
So you will win with marines unless you allow him to mass them up until you have equal food of marines and void rays. At any point until then you should be able to match him for total approximate resources.

Awesome he has a girl or whatever to play SC2 with, but the cast quality goes down the shitter when they play together.

All this math is pointless. what matters is real world, and so far I have found that once you have three charged void rays in anyone's base, there is very little they can throw against it that will kill them unless they were already massing marines to begin with.
I'll time myself in a custom game sometime, see how long it takes me to get out that second or third void ray, and take a guess at how long it would take a terran player to get enough maines to counter.
Because it might be longer than you think, especially since, unless massing marines was your strategy to begin with, your first rax probably has a tech lab, and maybe even your second one too, and you're not going to even have the slightest inkling of whats happening until you scout their base and see only 1 gateway, double gas, and a cybercore.

Well, that's the thing. Scouting is Starcraft. If you don;t you're just guessing, then sucking wind trying to counter whatever he's doing. Seeing a void ray rush isn't all that hard, and Terran is well equipped to deal with it.
The math isn't pointless either, it's very easy for Terran to get the force to deal with a Void ray rush....that's the Zerg complaint because they have to get into a tech race where Terran and Protoss can easily counter Rays.
Actually verse a zerg today I went marine ball with tanks as a back up. Ended up winning with just one base. His gg was the best.
"You must of won by some bs or something." Then he quit.
I really really love tanks though, won a 2v2 verse todayverse a pair of Terrans. Their marine ball with medivac and ghost were no match for my marines, supported by thors and tanks.
My strategy of "asking the match winner how he'd have countered his strategy" worked fairly well last night. I picked up a couple of tips, although I also got a few less than helpful ones too. I still ought to have somebody that's a gold or platinum obliterate and then cross-examine me.

Yeah seriously. You can't theorycraft the element of surprise into a discussion about effective counters. The assumption is the stargate's been scouted and now you need to know what to do.
Of course, I just mass anti-air against protoss cause they clowns and only know one tactic.
