That was in response to they guy calling it a sport. But mom jokes are always fun.
Also, E-sport? really?
so people making gangbusters for playing it in a competitive league, sometimes on teams, televised
not a sport?
okay
It's a sport in Korea, and no where else. There are no StarCraft matches on TV here, sorry. This has been pointed out several times: If you play in a Korean professional league, it may be a sport for you. For everyone else, it's not a sport anymore than Wii Bowling is.
so just because there is only a major professional football league in the united states, playing it anywhere else makes it not a sport?
i'm not saying one should treat it as a competitive sport if they don't want to -- but to not acknowledge as a sport because you aren't playing it competitively is silly.
It's not a sport because it involves a keyboard and a mouse.

If the president had any real power, he'd be able to live wherever the fuck he wanted.
Anytime someone replies about the whole manners thing, I'm going to annoy them into submission.
On a side note, I am getting good at the early-mid game, but any mid-late gameplay for me is just awful. My macro falls apart, I stop microing units, etc etc.
Also, sentries for guardian shield make small-damage attacks like hydras and mutas want to shoot themselves.
what exactly does guardian shield do?
and is there any zerg unit that does high damage? the answer is roaches, isnt it?
Reduces ranged damage by 2. It's like giving your whole army 2 BONUS armor upgrades. And it's stupidly good.
i assume that once i kill the sentry, the shield dissipates, right? it's not like the scroll of protection that they had in wc3 is it?
yes. However, if the player is decent he'll keep the sentry back far enough that killing it will be difficult for you. Also he'll have more than one so guardian shield can be kept up.

personally, i dont think anything that involves balls is a sport. those are just games.
the only real sports are hunting, fishing and murder.
yes it hits air. it doesnt seem to do much because it....doesnt do much as long as the guy doesnt sit in the middle of it after the cursor shows up
There used to/still is a bug that happens sporadically. I have watched Psi Storms on top of my Broodlords do absolutely nothing. Obviously, most of the time this doesn't happen, I can only remember it in one game, but it was strange that once...

Y'all know you need to aim for the marker below the unit, right? If you click ON the guy it'll miss by a mile.

To be semi-serious, a friend of mine has a really good working definition of sports and competitions. Hunting and fishing would both be considered competitions, not sports because sports allow one to directly affect the outcome of the opposing players. Football, baseball, soccer, and so on. A player can literally stop the opposition.
Competitions include Track and Field, Gymnastics, Diving, Swimming, Cheerleading and so on because you can not directly affect the opposition.
I know you were just joking, but just thought I would share my friend's wisdom.

i like this distinction, except, im wondering, does that mean "within the rules of the game" affect the opposition? because in track and field and most races, you could of course stumble on someone (or bump cars with him) and it happens all the time in short track speed skating, nascar, pretty much any tight race.
whatever the case, sc2 is definitely a sport then.
edit: as are billiards, curling and any number of silly things. happily bowling no longer qualifies as a sport.
speaking of ultras, im excited to see what they do. they should, at the minimum, make it so ultras can move over / above units like collossus do (i think).
Ultralisks still have the same problem Battlecruisers have:
Too much overhead, too many hard counters for the investment.
Neither are bad units when viewed in a vacuum, just in terms of cost / ability, but when you consider their availability, costs (in terms of required upgrades and required buildings for production) and how relatively easy it is to counter a unit with such significant initial costs, its still hard to justify their production.
Ultralisks aren't bad! Use them to support banelings or zerglings against infantry! Battlecruisers aren't bad! They fly and are really tough and shoot lasers and have a super big laser! But losing a 200-ish gas unit hurts significantly, and losing a 200-ish gas unit that also requires about 600+ gas in upgrades and buildings before even reaching the field is brutal.
I think they should have the upgrades built in and have a much higher up-front cost, coupled with being quite a bit tougher. That smacks of Supcom's super units though. But honestly, i can't see any other way to make them viable. Unless you're fighting someone who doesn't scout, or are bullheaded enough to just jam these big units into your army, they really arent cost effective.

huh
do you have to target it directly at where you see the unit from the default camera angle, or the point on the ground it's hovering above

I have this problem with ground units as well. It must be bugged or something.

Grounds you can just click on, yes.
You know what's decent anti air?
Phoenixes.
edit: hopefully this can be taken in the humorous way it was intended.

I said decent, not amazing
decent as in 'functional and perhaps pretty good in certain situations'
I love the 'tough guy' expressions, and how asian dude #2 is doing the same thing as muscle man below.
I'd assume yes, but i am curious.

the e stands for electronic.
Edit: or takes like 200 dmg I can't remember. At any rate abilities ignore Hardened Shields.
I am kind of imagining him playing SC2 with a plate of grandmother's cookie's next to the keyboard now.

there's no way he could look any different if you think about it.
he looks like that cannibal from sin city
the non cheese man himself
this?
or this?
They're aerodynamic.
Edit: I want SC2 players to wear wet suits, hell yes.
don't forget:
should be called idrachin
That was before he went off to train at the CJ Entus academy for wizards, sorcerers, and and SC nerds.

it's mostly the hair - in that other picture posted last page he looked more like weird al's long-lost son
