I got my 5th gold star for the knife last night. I was hanging around attacker spawn after the point had moved up. One of the better buildings was still standing and had a few pub snipers in it. I guess because they didn't have any way of communicating, they didn't notice me killing them one by one, but it was great. I sneak in as an engie with the PP2000 and Magnum ammo. I take the first one down with a couple of well placed headshots. The second goes down with a well placed knife to the head. The third notices me running up and spins around. He takes a shot with his M95. It is a solid body shot. I am hurting at this point, but need to finish the mission. I charge forward just as he is pulling out his pistol. I hear a single round pass by me. By that time, I am on top of him and make a swipe. IT MISSES. He swipes back and misses too. We are circling each other at this point. He is not even visible on my screen, but the animation goes off and I hear a thunk. 50 points flash across my screen and I know it is over. The icing on that cake was the 5th gold star appearing after the tags clink by.
Edit: Stupid stats site doesn't want to update me for another 11 hours. It has been like that for a week now.

You guys are newbs, bfbc2 statsverse has been down for at least a week, here's the stickied post on their forum page:
As all of you may have noticed we are having issues with Stats Verse right now. We are having some big problems with the stats feed for the game, or rather how we are getting the stats. If we can not resolve the issue with the way we currently have it setup, we will have to find different means of grabbing the stats. So for now we do not have an ETA as to when it will be fixed, we are very sorry.
Our main developer is so pissed he is actually on a plane right now to Stockholm to visit DICE and find some answers! (I kid, but he is actually going there right now)
We will try to keep you updated as often as we have breakthroughs or find out more. And as an fyi to all the people posting links to their stats in the forums, it is not that hard to read 2 pages back to see what I had posted before... Posting links to your stats page is completely pointless for this.
Once again we are very sorry for the trouble you have all been experiencing and we would like to thank you all for sticking with us in our time of trouble.

They have posted a notice on their site stating that the way that they get stats doesn't work anymore.
Site's back up and thought it's not as pretty as stats verse, it:
A) works
is 'on demand'. you hit your page, you press update and ta-DA! updates. DICE probably likes this better than stats verse trying to update EVERY player ever 6 hours.
3) has history. it's cool as hell to be able to look at a stats summary of the new info since you last loaded it.
if it had the compare functionality that statsverse has, it would be nice, but oh well.
So does your gun turn golden when you platinum it? And is that by getting 10 gold stars? Curious.
Also while I kinda like the new tracer dart speed, it is kinda way to easy to take down choppers. Still unbalanced IMO.
And what the hell are the SPECTACT guns? why don't I have them? I must've run across one on the battlefield since I have 20% accuracy with the M16A2 Spectact.
And on the topic of winning vs. killing, every player on the winning rush team gets 200 points, but you can get that easily by being a hill-humper or a Gustav whore, and not caring about winning. That said, though, for people like me who suck at killing, there are good points to be had by defending M-Coms and spotting and using equipment items other than guns.
If you're a killing machine, though, there's no sense in wasting time with actually helping the team when you can mow people down and get 3000 points per game.

So I changed my brightness to 60 and the contrast to 30. Holy shit, it's like a totally different game.
I really hope they add a team scramble command sometime soon. It sure would be nice to even unbalanced teams.
I don't think its possible unless they change how the autobalancer works and rig up some other way it is done. Since there isn't a spectator mode or any none team assigned ID for anyone for it to perform the swap with, eh, I really don't expect anything not hamifisted and half broken to come for that.
Well, if anyone finds two friends to cooperate as attackers on the first two MCOMs of Isla Inocentes rush, you can load up a Blackhawk with 18 C4s and fly it into an MCOM for instant destruction.

We have been talking about changing to a mixed map mode rotation. There are maps enough to do Rush Conquest Rush, but from what I have heard from you all, not many like Conquest. My thoughts right now are Rush Rush Conquest. I would really like some feedback from some people, though.

That sounds reasonable. Give it a shot and see what happens. Specifically, see if it empties servers late at night when Conquest comes up.
Last night I was in the middle of a heavy firefight when I ran completely out of ammo. There was a medic kit beside me so I picked it up expecting an m60 or something. Nope, MG3 with a 4x scope. I probably would have had more success swinging it as a club.
Hehe, the one LMG meant for close-range equipped with a long-range scope. How did you run out of ammo? I guess you'd have to be playing Recon or Engineer for that to happen.
I think I was medic...or maybe even assault. :oops: When I play assault I'm usually too busy running around making sure my team mates are resupplied to actually sit near the crate and fill my own ammo.
There's nothing that sucks quite so much as a bunch of magnum medics and gustav whores on defense camping the hill on the first spawn of Isla Innocentes and then going "lolololol u noobs" when the attackers get skunked.

Find the BFBC2 folder in My Documents. Copy it somwhere else. Now delete the one in My Docs. Start up BC2. It will create a new folder for you, with default settings. Change your graphics options and key bindings back to how they were. Jump into a game. Your framerate should have increased substantially. I got about 20 fps more on average than usual, on medium settings.

Well that was a couple of rough rounds on the Dome. Being stuck on the mostly pubbie team who had the most brilliant pilots. Fully capable of jumping in a Blackhawk and going afk in spawn or doing back flips in the attack choppers.
At least we managed to hold off the attacking team on the final points.

So, how did you all like the new map rotation tonight?
I'm not allowed to post screens apparently. It's how I got jailed. Why not start up the game and adjust the sliders youself?
But couldn't you post links to screens hosted somewhere else, so people may choose to view them and load them if they wish?
Or can you not even link screenshots? That would be kind of lame.
I got jailed for linking them I think. Either way, I can't be arsed to upload anything cos I'm now going on about 30 hours with no sleep and I have to work tomorrow.

I have been using the AKS with magnum ammo for the past few days. I really really like it too. If I use controlled burst fire, it is just as good as any of the ARs. One on one I was going up against medics and assults with no difficulties. I even managed to take out an entire squad while I was hold up in a house last night. I am told the SCAR-L is even better, though; leaving me with one question. How is the SCAR stacking up against the AKS?
