You don't listen very well, do you?
And no, we don't greet new members with open arms when they can't wrtie properly (or at least coherently).

Okay, everybody shut the hell up. We don't need more than one mod here, especially not any extras who are just metamodding because they think it's funny and fun.
kazuya, if English is not your first language, I understand. But your posts are currently so far below the PA forums' standard of legibility that they are disruptive. You need to start using correct grammar and punctuation and capitalization now, or stop posting and just lurk.

Sorry, man. We're welcoming here, and while it is regrettable that you are not originally from an English-speaking country I guess, this is an English-speaking board and some modicum of proper grammar is kind of expected.
edit: Sorry, K, I was posting this as you posted yours.
Getting back on topic, is it even possible to ruin 7? It's a ten year old game that's been played to hell and back by the majority, still alive and making money today in different forms, and constantly topping best game ever lists.
I back Germany up on this. Fucking murder simulators!
An actual murder simulator would be pretty cool. Plan your murder carefully, carry it off in a fit of rage and spend the next few weeks of your free life quivering every time someone knocks on the door until the police burst in and you have to go to court, but whatever you plead the prosecution send you down; then the next 20 hours of gameplay involve being raped and failing to gain parole before you emerge from prison, 57 and a shattered wreck who can't get a job and dies alone. Maybe then people would learn..
edit: also, you lot would love Germans. They capitalise every noun.
Aah... the classic stereotypical yank. Arrogant, stupid and disrespectful to other countries.
We're not all like that, I swear.
I've actually been refreshing this thread mostly to see if K puts down the hammer on this one too.
I'm quite tickled that in saying that the comment is disrespectful to other countries and stupid, he himself is being disrespectful to the US and stupid, by saying that that kind of comment is stereotypical of a yank.
Anyone notice how some things (mattresses and the copy machines in Highrise) are totally impenetrable? A steel wall, yeah that makes sense, but bullets should obliterate copy machines.
I don't know about you, but I always buy a bullet proof printer. Its a lot more expensive, but I think the advantages are apparent.
sooooo....to get back on topic, let me get this straight: there was an incident where a German teen who was obsessed with everyone's favorite multiplayetr FPS Counter-Strike where the teen unfortunately killed some folks, and now legislators in the German gov't have somehow started this movement in the EU to severely limit and/or ban "violent games", right?
and the argument is that, even though they can't produce hard evidence that violence in reality is caused by the influence of violence in games, they insist there's a link anyways?
god forbid politicians legislate on scientific facts or, hell, even common sense instead of doing some knee-jerk law writing.
my question is, does the EUs actions here give any credence to the lawmakers in the U.S. in terms of this stuff? what are the standards in other countries? i know, for example, that the law in Australia is pretty cracked out and limits violence in anything severely. the politicians there seem to have the mentality of a two-year old when it comes to anything technological, so i guess that's not surprising. what about other countries?

ass.
No, because a stereotype doesn't have to bear any resemblance to reality.

That response was so stereotypical, Aethelred.
edit: This story would have been much cooler if they named themselves "Biggs" and "Wedge."
Can you even buy Final Fantasy VII these days? Seriously? Because I'd like to pick it up.
Some EBGames in London, On, Canada have a small selection of PS1 titles, including FF7, FF8 and FF9 new for about $10 each.
same a couple of mine here in regina have PS1 games for sale again basically in a big tub, I just picked up Chrono Cross the other day which surprised me to see it again.
Why would you choose "Reno" as an alias? There were so much more important characters in the game.
yeah but they weren't all as nattily dressed.
I say to you again, sir, that Rude was way cooler.
Shotgun > Rude.

Where are you seeing this? There's already a voluntary system in place (similar to the American ESRB) called PEGI. There was a bit of a fuss recently about Rule of Rose that was caused by an Italian government minister shouting loudly about things which weren't his responsibility. The EU minister whose job it is to deal with this kind of thing laid the smack down on him pretty hard, but the publisher still pulled the game.
my question is, does the EUs actions here give any credence to the lawmakers in the U.S. in terms of this stuff? what are the standards in other countries?
As I understand it, the US can't legislate age restrictions on game sales, because to do so would be unconstitutional. What they can have is a voluntary system enforced by retailers, like with movies.
In the UK, there are no such constitutional difficulties, so games that have "mature" content (usually excessive bad language, extreme violence and gore, or explicit sexual content) get passed to the BBFC for rating as either "15" or "18", those being the minimum age to purchase. To my knowledge, the BBFC has never "banned" a game, or even refused to rate one.
It's worth pointing out that European ratings boards tend to come down hardest on violence, particularly if it's presented explicitly in a manner that fails to sho any kind of consequence. The "hot coffee" scandal wasn't a scandal in the UK, since the BBFC considered the sex scene milder ratings-wise than the violence in the game.

EDIT: Whoops, thought it was T in America.
EDIT: Duly noted.
And in Germany, you aren't actually "Mature" until your 37th birthday!

YOU'RE OUT!
That's why I said stereotypical.
Yes. u =! you.

Yeah, I'm American. I was kinda suprised, at first, to see the M rating, but after playing the game for a bit, it made sense.
That was actually the first time ever I was carded for game ratings.
EDIT: Oh, and no prob, K.

Here's what I was trying to quote:
"here" being the US? I didn't think it was actually required by law anywhere in the US... am I mistaken?
Also... Sephiroth and Reno? What kind of pairing is that?
I don't think the two ever even met.

They also pretty much got the crap beaten out of them.

maybe I don't need to spoiler that, but FF7 has one of my favorite game storylines and I'd hate to be the reason someone didn't get to enjoy it
