Just wait until they make "Gunman Chronicles 3: Gunman Resurrection" wherein you play a Human protagonist pregnant with an Alien-Dinosaur hybrid and are forced to run from Humans and Dinosaurs that are all trying to gun you down/eat you to prevent the birth of your Alien-Dinosaur spawn, all while also trying to avoid the Aliens that want to kidnap you and "protect" you until you lay your Alien-Dinosaur egg, after which they can dispose of your now-worthless meat husk.
And the worst part? You're pregnant. And male.
Sounds like Bioforge.
It may have been a while, but I don't remember playing a pregnant man in Bioforge. :?
If you've come for the spoon, you'll be sorely disapointed!

It's "fork," and I said it on the previous page!
That's what I get for not reading the whole topic. :?
WHy did they keep showing an egg in the Alien3 posters when there was no egg in the movie?
Same reason they kept promising that the movie would take place on Earth.
Because they hate good movies?
Because nobody knew what the movie was about until they finished it.
I haven't played much of the AVP2 campaigns, but what was there didn't really grab me. It was the deathmatch that was the real time consumer for me. It was great fun. Being an Alien and sneaking up on your friend as a marine and leping at him and ripping him to pieces was very satisfying.
I played a little bit of AVP1 and found it a bit sketchy in compared to AVP2 but it seemed to have more atmosphere and the actual proper Pulse Rifle noises.
AvP1 Marine campaign was a blast, mostly because it wouldn't let me save during levels. I ended up completing every Marine level from opening to end without dieing -- of course I died, it's just that each time I did, I had to start from the beginning of the level, which was the last save point.
Both in AvP1 and AvP2, as a Marine I had the pulse rifle aimed just below the horizon. At the optimum distance, this was right where an approaching Alien's head should be without getting acid splashed from the kill. Of course, this tactic worked best while your Marine is backpedaling to escape.
And facehuggers? Flame thrower, then run like mad to avoid flaming face-love.
...
Damn it. Now I've got to go find my AvP discs. At least they'll keep me from spending the next week replaying KOTOR with the Padawan mod...
Damn. Damn. Damn. If I can finish off KOTOR in time, I'll probably do an in the dark run of the Marine missions in AvP this weekend. There's another Friday and Saturday night wasted...
Oddly enough, I've found that even the ATi Radeon X800 can't run AvP2 with all the graphics on high.
Ideally if there is to be an AvP FPS again Rebellion would be behind it for the third time. If there's one thing they know it's atmosphere.
Neo Rasa on

AvP really came through with the alien campaign. I mean, shadows and darkness actually being fucking dark added alot to the playthrough. Didn't work so well in two. I mean, I was on the ceiling, no lights around, just utter darkness, waiting for two marines to pass. They took one step, saw me at like max fucking range, and started firing. No flashlights on or anything. That didn't really happen in the first one, which added some strategy to it.

Monlith's good with atmosphere. I would hope it would go to them. Or rebellion. Whatever. Where could I find the AvP games for cheap?
Amazon's running AvP:Gold for as little as $5. AvP2 at around $15, and the AvP2 expansion for another $17. AvP2:Gold, however, is running for $65 by itself.
The current Monolith would be a lot of fun to see what they do with another go at the franchise. Gearbox is a good choice, though. I loved their BiA series. In all honesty, the parts I liked most in AvP and AvP2 were the Marine vs. Alien missions where you're the Marine. I don't mind so much that the P portion from the mix will likely be removed for the new game. That's if what I've read above is accurate...

I'm kinda torn because I loved the atmosphere of the first game and the polish of the second.
Rebellion games (like Judge Dredd), have all been a lot of fun but kinda lack that AAA-title shine that Monolith brings.
Though now I want to reinstall Judge Dredd.
Judge Dredd's console ports definitely suffered. With a good framerate that's an awesome arcade-style FPS. Reminds me of, I don't know, ZPC or Blood say.
They did Sniper Elite and Rogue Trooper which were also quite good (Sniper Elite especially). They know how to set the stage and how to make a damn good level.
I guess in a way what I really want is a design like Rebellion's first AvP game on the Jaguar or System Shock where the "levels" can be returned to as you unlock more areas and such.
My dream assembly would be Rebellion doing it again on that Doom 3/Quake IV engine. Have it in VERY tight and claustrophobic halls but with all sorts of passageways and crawlspaces for you to access and some basic adventure game elements (SOME NPCs but not many, extra objectives besides just destroying all of the other two species, etc.).

Perhaps Doom III's engine, tight hallways, but more along the lines of SS2's level design where the different areas all interconnect in some way?

It's one of my biggest shames to have never played the Jaguar AvP game.
You have no idea how much I begged and pleaded my parents to buy me a Jaguar when the game came out. I was pretty fresh off the Dark Horse comics and would have given an organ for the money to get my hands on the game. I guess in retrospect it was better to get a 64 a couple years later, but one day I will hunt down that system and a copy of the game.

I haven't played it in quite some time so maybe its just nostalgia, but that game was insane awesome goodness.
Though, as I child my comprehension was fucktarded so I was through nearly the whole game as predator with only my wristblade because I kept killing people while stealthed.

Not against predators, but to be fair, they couldn't hide from you either.
