God, I can't believe Sony is enforcing "add the camera to your game even if you don't want to or the game doesn't need it, we need to show how we're different from Nintendo because WE HAVE A CAMERA DAMMIT." Adding in motion controls when a game didn't need it is probably the #1 complaint about motion controls, doing the same with the camera's just going to be worse.

They have to make Move Viable.
being so entrenched in the generation, Sony has to choose either to do this and force support, or not mandate it and doom the Move to a lifetime of Wii up ports, and consequently, a slow painful death. There really is no other option for them.
Sony hopes that the camera will be the difference maker to get people to jump from the Wii to Move as the de facto motion solution.

Basically the same situation as the camera functionality in Rayman and Earthworm Jim on the DSi. Worthless and annoying.
(In Rayman it takes your picture at every continue point for no reason. In Earthworm Jim there's something about trying to mimic Jim's expression for some reason.)
Sources reveal to MCV that recent delays to Polyphony’s racer are to allow implementation of new tech
A source close to Sony has confirmed to MCV that the reason behind the more recent of Gran Turismo 5’s delays is the implementation of both 3D and Move compatibility.
The news helps to explain the somewhat bewildering claim made by the game’s chief designer Kazunori Yamauchi earlier this month that the game, which has been in development for several years, is still only 90 per cent complete.
Rumours of both Move and 3D compatibility first arose in April when Yamauchi confessed that Polyphony Digital is “always attuned to new technologies”, adding that “if there are display devices or peripherals that seem interesting, I'm sure we'll work to support them”.
The exact timeframe of Sony’s plans for Gran Turismo 5 remains a mystery, but an E3 reveal is certainly not out of the question.
Hahahahaha.

Wow, they are taking for friggin ever to get GT5 out.
You think with all that money they made by making people pay money for their demo would have funded them finishing the actual game a bit more quickly.
Having ridden into town, hitched its horse, strolled into the local saloon and shot all other chart contenders in the face to claim no.1 in the ELSPA GfK Chart-Track All Formats Top 40 today, Red Dead Redemption has also given Microsoft plenty to cheer about.
Xbox 360 accounted for over two thirds of the game’s total sales – 65 per cent. Sony’s PS3 was left with the remaining 35 per cent.
It’s a big win for Microsoft’s machine, which so far this year has found itself losing out on plenty of multiformat sales to rival PS3.
Indeed, elsewhere in this week’s UK Charts the likes of 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands all see sales fall in favour of Sony’s console.
Let's not also forget the stock problems that plagued the PS3 version of the game in the UK, either. If stock issued are resolved in the week next week could end up being a very different story.
I've yet to see confirmation that the story is true, and yeah, if the parents didn't allow her to have it there could be some other underlying reason, like bad grades or unmonitored/unrestricted entertainment or lack of money for games.
On the one hand, I can understand Sony wanting to do something different with their waggle and encourage people to exploit their technology.
On the other, most developers STILL can't be arsed to figure out Wii waggle, and it's been, what, four years? Requiring the camera will either generate even more horribly shoehorned-in waggle mechanics, or it will cause them to say "fuck this, let's just make a regular game" and shun Move.

Two companies besides Nintendo (that I can think of) have done some fantastic stuff with the Wii, and found fantastic ways to use the waggle:
EA (Tiger Woods and Boom Blox) and Capcom (Zack & Wiki and Okami).
Most other companies have been pretty crap overall.

Sony has the advantage of having Nintendo there to leverage.
It's easier for a company to rationalize and budget for a Wii game ported with some extra bells and whistles to PS3 than just to either console individually.
This is why I believe Move is what it is: close enough to Wii to siphon the dev dollars allocated to it while having something a bit extra to siphon the userbase away.

Truth be told, I'm not counting WiiWare since many devs have made some fantastic games for WiiWare.
And I would lump RE4 and the RE Chronicles games with some of the fantastic games from Capcom, as they are one of the few to do some fantastic stuff for the Wii.
So as the failure rate of the 360 became clear how exactly did the retailers respond. Did they raise the price of the warranties or did they stop offering them or what?
Other than trying to sucker a few more bucks out of the deal, there's no harm to the stores so there is no real need to charge more or stop offering them. They just return the returned merchandise to whomever they bought it from in exchange for more product. Like any other defective product.
Just to clarify here, this isn't actually true. I know at Gamestop, these warranties were done through a third party. I don't remember the name, but it was a company that dealt with extended warranties for retailers, and both companies took a cut of the price as profit. Best Buy's warranty program is similar, as was Circuit City (which is why people with CC warranties can still claim them if necessary). The XBox 360's rate of return became so high that Gamestop stopped offering the warranty for the system...
...Xbox 360 accounted for over two thirds of the game’s total sales – 65 per cent.
Bahaha.
Why is that funny?
Good shout. Only silly geese delight in the relative failure of games on rival platforms.
Ugh, don't start again Darley.
I'm asking because its either fanboy stuff or someone somewhere has said that it was definintely going to sell more on the opposite platform, in which case it'd be funny because they were wrong.
Or you can send us off on more pages of explanation to deal with your hostility and misinterpretations. Your call.
I'm sure no one's ever bothered to play Mercury Meltdown Revolution. Even though it's a PS2 port it uses the remote well enough in that Monkey Ball floor moving style. Also, even though I ultimately was disappointed by No More Heroes, it used it well enough also.
Microsoft Corp. is expected to shake up the management of its division focused on videogames, mobile phones and other devices, in the wake of increasingly bruising competition from Apple Inc. and Google Inc. in the market for consumer devices, according to people familiar with the matter.
The Redmond, Wash., software company could announce major organizational changes at its Entertainment & Devices Division as early as this week, those people said. The division includes Microsoft's Xbox videogame business and Windows Phone, an operating system for mobile phones. The unit accounted for $1.67 billion in sales during the first three months of the year, or about 11% of Microsoft's $14.5 billion in revenue during the period.
One executive in the division, J Allard, the chief experience officer and chief technology officer of the group, is expected to leave that role following Microsoft's recent decision to shut down a tablet PC development project known internally as Courier, that Mr. Allard was overseeing, people familiar with the matter said.
I would say there is some amount of irony in Sony being more controlling of the games on its platform than Nintendo. Remember, competition and letting the market decide which games can succeed is bad.
Do SCEA even really enforce that control these days anyway? They let Sega release Yakuza 3 with Japanese voice acting and just english subtitles, not to mention Disgaea 3 with it's PS2 grade graphics.
So Killzone (blah) 3 announced....and it has Jet packs.
Are all games going to have jet packs now...is that a new thing I'm not aware of? :?
If that means there's no more lameass mechs in games then sure, I'd view it as an improvement. Though I should point out that jetpacks have already been established in the Killzone series anyway, Liberation featured them a fair bit.
Anyway, I noticed MCV also said that there'd been a shortage of PS3 copies of RDR in the UK. Didn't Take 2 have similar problems with GTAIV? Or am I thinking of another game?

Oh, gottcha...oh well.
As far as the Move goes, yea, those types of requirements will end up getting the companies to add silly 'improvements' to their ports.
Silly goosery.

A little girl writes Nintendo as a school project, and talks about how she wants a DS but her parents won't get her one.
Nintendo takes pity on her and sends her a new DS as a gift. Go figure.

But I think you hit most of the high notes. Maybe Madworld if you're feeling generous.
I'd say World of Goo and the Bit Trip games too.
Made one, if only to grouse about how some regions get Alpha Protocol this week, while we have to wait a whole nother week for it

Not sure why, But Im going to hazard a guess that its because 2/3's would be at least 66, and 65 would be under 2/3, not over.
