I think I may have encountered a bug, Mexico act spoilers.
At the final mission, I started off in the duel against the soldier to rescue Reyes, and I completely missed how the girl freedom fighter died. I don't think I hit any buttons, anyone else encouter this?

Made it to Act III, the 1911 is godly.

Also, the quest I know you is the BEST IN THE GAME. Quest and endgame SPOILERS people.
A perfect mix of Pale Rider and a perfect foreshadowing Marston's death. He got to meet his very own grim reaper, or even GOD Hisself, and the actions you take during his quest very much define Marston's morality. Does Marston really deserve redemption after all the blood he's shed? I think this quest, and how you deal with it, answers it perfectly. I haven't confirmed it myself, but some players say the exact spot you meet the Stranger the third time is where Marston is burried, and during the final shootout he can be seen watching events play out.
I can't speak for if he's there watching, but yeah, they're standing at that exact spot. The stranger even remarks on how beautiful and peaceful everything is. Kinda wish I had some way of knowing ahead of time that Marston's farm was in the area, I didn't know that the place I'd ridden past dozens of times on my way to Blackwater was in fact the very home Marston was trying to return to.

I've been grinding the challenges, and am up to lvl 5 in huntingNow I have to knife kill 2 cougars. The critters that can shave off 95% of your health in one hit if your lucky. Normally I only approach them with a knife after shooting them multiple times for safety.

Well, I'm carrying 5 medicines, hopefully I can use them fast enough...

So I stopped to do the herbalist challenge today. Got out to a patch away from the herb-dude, only to see the plants disappear suddenly, right as I hear the growl/roar of a cougar. Took me a second to realize what happened. Naturally, that bastard came after me next.

Another cougar incident came shortly after I had just knifed seven wolves and skinned them. He came straight at me, and my first inclination was to go into dead-eye. But after a moment of that, I canceled out and decided to go toe-to-toe. I knifed him but good.

Also, I just did the third Funny Man stranger mission, and as he starts to run off, I witness a snake lash out and bite him on the ankle which immediately kills him. Surprised the ever-loving fuck out of me, and I'm wondering if he's dead for good? Anyone have any experience with that?

    Posseing was a blast, guys.

Unfortunately, going from level 1 to level 14 in one session seems to be causing some major problems when I try to update my skins and such. Like it loads for 10 minutes and nothing happens.

And I would guess that particular stranger is even harder to keep down than most...

I do this pretty much erryday

Also I actually started to hate act I by then end because I didn't like any of the characters in it at all

Fuck Seth, fuck Irish, and especially West Dickhead

Then I got to Act II and it immediately gives me a badass real gunman to work with and teaches me Dead Eye 3 all "Sorry about that"

So with the multiplayer I find myself really getting butchered. Do people have any advice. Its rather embarrassing. Thankfully I started getting better when I didn't underestimate the power of item pick ups; basically seems like that is a must do and the starting weapons are junk. People have other advice though?
(I'm finding the controls really hard to manage)

Also for horses... I take it the loyalty thing doesn't carry over? And are there horses that innately better than others? Or are they all the same except aesthetics?
sadly the nice stallion I got from the MacFarlane mission got killed

& Does hitching allow you to have more than one?

+ has anyone run into a weird bug where the horses are all like rattling in place? (360 )

If you find that people are pulling off ridiculous shots, they're playing bitch mode a.k.a. casual controls. I play normal controls so I can lock on, but I can still blow a bitch's head off when he gets out of line.

Switching back to level 1 disables saving and achievements. The best way to deal with level 2 is just to get the hell out of act I and cross the border.

Those are just those random encounters. Ride along the roads, and eventually you will see a stagecoach under attack. Just take care of the gang members there. It's the same for all "Defend residents" challenges.

why the fuck would you want to stick around

you can come back to America over the bridge near Perdido at any time to do Stranger stuff I believe

Also as I was sliding into cover a minute ago Marston's rudimentary spanish kicked in and he was like "THINGS ARE NOT LOOKIN' BUENO!" I love his accentless spanish attempts, hilarious

In other news the horse I got the "Do 20 missions with one horse" achievement with died this morning to wolves

So am I missing any fun with wildlife by sticking mainly to roads and trails, and never going slower than full gallop, especially if I hear any animal noises?

Your stories of velociraptor-like mountain lions have been extremely effective as cautionary tales. So much so that maybe I'm missing out on some shenanigans.

    1) Easiest place to find your target is the south Great Plains area.

    2) Listen! That's will typically be your first warning of their approach. Move a short distance and dismount.

    3) Face it head on with your knife drawn and be prepared to side/back roll, do it after they commit but fudge on the side of early.

    4) If you manage to dodge rush forward immediately and slash like a maniac. It takes three hits usually.

    5) Save immediately after getting your first challenge kill, because if the second one gets you you'll lose your progress.

That's how I did it. Your mileage may vary.

Oh right, that reminds me. Colorado, 1994. Mountain lion + elementary school playground == story time:
I was in high school and lived as a military dependent on USAF Academy base housing, and went to the local high school. (To be clear, I was not an academy student, I was just attending a public high school that happened to be on academy grounds. I'm not that special.) There's an elementary school that's also on-base. There were kids out playing in the playground and one of the kids pointed a mountain lion out to the teacher. It was just sitting up there minding its own business, sunning itself, a few hundred feet from the playground. Recess cancelled, everyone inside, animal control is called. Animal control arrives, calls for backup. They successfully repelled the mountain lion with fire hoses.

After hearing these stories and being terrified of losing my in-game horse to an in-game mountain lion, I'm now kinda surprised they didn't just shoot. X__X

The random events come to you, so I guess you aren't really missing a whole lot. The achievement for bagging one of every animal probably requires you to head into the wilderness, though.

    Which reminds me...

This time I was going after a wagon thief in Mexico and took care of him pretty easily. Once I returned the wagon and was dismounting it, though, a pair of wolves attacked. I took out the wolf going after him while he took out the one that was in my face.

So that was pretty cool. But then he ran off into the tall grass instead of getting on his wagon. As he was fleeing, I watched as he screamed and fell, disappearing into the waist-high weeds. Didn't hear or see him again.

Ok, I'm attempting multiplayer on the 360 shortly. Send Pollo Diablo C an invite if you see me. If not, I'll assume there isn't a PA game going and spam you all with invites.

And about single player, how do I do the gang hideout in that mining camp? I ride in there, but nobody fights me, and I don't want to start mowing down innocent dudes. The last few hideouts I've fought had an NPC nearby who'd ask me to attack the joint, but there's nothing there. Do I just start blasting folks?

I also hit a random event, this one guy on a horse is chasing a wounded guy on foot and blazing away at him. I, being an upstanding gent, blast the dastardly human-hunter off his horse and kill him. -50 honor. Oh fuck, I think, that was a cop chasing a fugitive. I'll avenge his unfortunate death by plugging the criminal he was after. So I ride up and shoot the "criminal" in the back of the head. -50 honor. I guess they were just townsfolk having some good, wholesome, fun?
