[Burn Notice] In which Michael Westen becomes Emperor of Everything
Burn Notice has been renewed for not one, not two, but three! Three more seasons. That next one starts in a couple days. I hope you all remember where we left Michael last time:
He was in a comfy room with a fireplace. What a twist!
If you don't know what Burn Notice is by now, there is a great wikipedia article. I suggest you start at season one, because there is no such thing as a terrible Burn Notice episode. Although the ones featuring Fiona the Skeletor in a bikini come close. I suggest spoilering only the season finale and season four from this point onward.
Yay to three more years of Jeffrey Donovan's smile, Bruce Campbell acting, and mojitos for everyone.
ALSO: A movie is in the works. This prequel will take place before the show and track Sam's (Bruce Campbell's) movements in Latin America.
Has the plot moved forward at all? I kind of got bored of the problem of the week type story but really enjoyed when the episodes were more about the main plot.

It's one of those things where the plot moves a lot, but his actual situation never seems to change. So unless you want him working on the middle east for the government again, then I hope it doesn't move forward too far.
somebody tell me what happened at the end of season 3 i forget
Well, I don't know how much you remember, but here's my stab at it:
Michael was working for psycho killer(PK) guy, because he wanted to find out what he was up to so he could stop it. He found out that PK guy was trying to free an even more super baddie guy who was being transported on a flight that was going to stop near Miami. Michael was all set to blowup the whole operation (quite literally), until things go awry, and super baddie guy ends up escaping while booby trapping PK guy and almost killing Michael.
At least thats what I remember of it.

The show that's on alongside this one, Royal Pains, is actually pretty good.

There's more.
Simon, the prisoner Gilory (PK) was helping escape, tries to kill the head of management or least the person sent to Miami. I believe Micheal saves the management dude and at the end of the episode captures Simon and he gets returned to prison with the last shot being Michael sitting in a room. Also as a note Simon is the person who commited the crimes that causes Michael to be burned.

Daaaaay-ummmmmm! How'd I forget all that. I need to go back and watch the last episode or two after I get back from work. Are they still up on Hulu?

Huzzah for more Burn Notice! Also, super awesome that there's 3 more seasons. Anybody know why it got renewed for so many seasons at once? Other than USA realizing it is super awesome of course.
Also, Burn Notice got tpain to try yogurt for the first time, which he loves now of course.
From season 4 I would greatly enjoy more Jeffery Donovan kicking ass and taking names.
I would think that with Monk gone (their #1 original show for a long time) they're trying to keep their other popular original shows around for a while

My first thought it that the writers asked for an idea of how many seasons they would have to work with so they could plan the overall plot.

I am about to run out of shows to watch so I am really glad that Burn Notice is coming back. I'm not expecting things to change too much during season 4 and that is just fine with me.
I do hope they take it interesting places without losing the core flavor.
Well, as long as they don't fuck with the "client of the week" self-contained plot that makes up 95% of every episode that's not the season premiere or the season finale, the five minutes of "Who Burned Michael?" that makes up the rest of each episode can fluctuate in quality without too much damage.
Has the plot moved forward at all? I kind of got bored of the problem of the week type story but really enjoyed when the episodes were more about the main plot.
No. The client of the week issue is pretty much the majority (and best part) of the show.
Each season Michael ends up working for Bad Guy X in order to find out who burned him/get back in/get more information. That portion is pretty formulaic.
Anyone else occasionally have Donovan-style voice overs in their heads for the most mundane things?
"When you butter your toast, it's important to remember that a constant amount of pressure is key. Have a light touch, and the butter won't spread. A heavy touch will tear the bread, ruining your entire breakfast."
I agree; the mix of self-contained and arc content in each episode is an important factor in the series' success. I hope (and expect) it will continue.

Last thread I talked about this. I watched the entirety of seasons 1 and 2 in about a day while watching a season 3a marathon the next day. EVERY thought I had suddenly had a voice over. IT WAS AWESOME.

I have attempted to make it my inner monologue voice. Sometimes it is the voice I use in my head when typing. Like right now for instance, mostly because of this thread, and it won't stop. So I will conclude my post right here.
When using Jeffery Donovan's voice for inner monologue, you have to remember to pause and say things with a certain style. The type of style you get when playing a burned agent on television.

If you do it right, you'll feel cool even when just tying your shoes. Mess it up, and you'll be filled with douche-y shame until the day you die alone.

Was there a Comfy chair there?
Because
Do you know when will the "Six Feet Under" come back? I loved it to bits. My favourite TV show of all times.

Not enough people know about the show and that sirs and/or madams is a shame.
I shall purchase yogurt and beer in anticipation for this great return.
