weird graphics/color bug

Hey there people, long time lurker, first time poster etc.

Lately I've been having this thing on my computer where every time I turn it back on, i'm seeing this olive-green color where i should be seeing grey.

For example the darker grey tone on this website and on the Steam application are both this olive-green color, and it also affects jpg images and pretty much everything else.

My graphics card is a ATI RAdeon X1800 series and i've updated the catalyst drivers to 7.1 (I updated them after I started having this problem, but it didn't help).

The weird thing is, when I go to "Color" section the Catalyst control center, the problem instantly vanishes and the olive color disappears. I don't have to change any settings, just open that part of the Catalyst menu. Then when I restart my computer, it's back.

Any of you smarter-than-me people out there have any ideas as to how to fix this problem permanently?

I would guess it's caused by incorrect gamma setting - maybe check if you haven't added a colour profile for your monitor (IIRC it's somewhere under desktop properties -> settings -> advanced).
You could also try uninstalling the monitor in the device manager (so it reinstalls itself with default settings) or look for updated monitor drivers.
