So yeah, work sucks, room mate who is fucking off sucks, appartment hunting/new room mate hunting sucks too.. and after all that hunting, the worst part is I cant really fit in some Monster hunting!
So enough whinging, just wanted to put that out there.
Just watched a Zeropunctiation review of MH3 which I found quite funny, so if you know it hit it up.
Now Im heading out again to check out an appartment...
I hope there is a Baroth there..
That... that would be the worst apartment.
Just think of the mess!
Just think. You would be the first person in history to quit an apartment and return it :P
2 appartments checked, and none are up to my standards. There was no Barroth there, but it smelled like one had lived there in one, and the other the gang of locals trying to chew trough a steel bar put me off.
More huntings to be had tonight, but starting to think that finding a new room mate might be better option then appartment.

Nice productive night
Farmed some Barioth+, feel like I've finally gotten the hang of the timing differences between him and Nargacuga so I tend to only use a few potions each time.
Finished up my Nardebosche, Sabertooth (G), Amber Hoarfrost, and I'm just a few Tusks and Carapace short of the Barioth+ Blademaster armor.
Probably going to keep at it until I can finish the Gunner armor as well though, since Narga gear was my standby Gunner armor in Unite.
I don't know of one, but do let me know if you find one! I've actually been knocking together Excel sheets for when I'm messing around with combinations of certain sets.

I keep a whiteboard next to my TV and I scribbled on what I'm looking for, and the skills I am mixing. Haha, I take this way too seriously.
There's a notepad of sorts in the game, though it doesn't really give you specifics of the drops you've added to it, all it really does it change the collection sound into something else to tell you you got whatever is on the list.
common' petal flower hammer go into recital mode. . . oh, right.
Darn.
I really hope Tri adds in those weapons with DLC or something when they figure out how they're going to change them for portable 3. I know I keep saying this, but it was like another world when I got into MHFU. A world that seems to have a more delicious nuget center.

My friend and I tried a Jhen fight last night... I don't think we are ready for him yet. At least not just the two of us. Tried 3 or four times and it didn't go so well... I don't think he's made for HR14....

HR shouldn't really have any effect seeing as most of the attacking is with the ship weapons. I'd definately say a minimum of three people though and they'd have to know what they were doing. With four vaguely competents you should sail (lol) through the low rank version.

Hmmm, we spent a lot of time attacking the scales on his back. We had watched a video where some dude broke one scale and moved to the next before he even got thrashed once. We went up together and it took multiple thrashings (landing back on Jhen) and multiple remounts to even take one out by ourselves. Should we have been just focusing on the ship weapons??

Break their face/heads better chance at rare goods.
I have done that every single time and still nothing, it's driving me up a wall
Entirely strange, I hunt with nothing special and don't really have a problem with that. :? Confusing.
I've done the rank 4 SP capture quest a dozen times breaking the head each time while wearing Baggi armor and still nothing
It's infuriating since I've got more than enough parts to make Rathian armor with enough gems to get HGE but the bottleneck is the stupid ass drop rate on plates
It's weird that the game doesn't have a barter system where you can trade certain parts of monsters for other parts.
I've got plenty of rare drops I don't plan on using, like Earth Dragon Gems, wherein I wouldn't bat an eye to trade for some of the rarer things I need.
In other new I fought my first Barioth today. He's a bit annoying isn't he? Not exactly hard (though I did use a fair amount of potions) but he can be difficult to pin down.
It's probably been mentioned here earlier but the trick to Barioth is to break his claws asap. Once that's done he loses traction and won't be able to attack as quickly.
Go ahead and use pitfall traps and bombs, they'll make it much faster.
How exactly do bombs distribute damage, anyway? Do they hit every part within the blast for full damage, distribute the damage across all parts, or just deal full damage to the closest part?
They deal full damage to the closest part, modified by the Defense value adjustment for the star rating of the mission you are on.

There is a backwards bizarre one in the form of the Veggie Elder, but I've not seen a Tri Veggie Elder list around anywhere. In Unite, you could take a Veggie Elder list and figure out some way to get rare parts that you might need. To be fair, it's not a very good system, but it's there.

Wait you only get resources for the ship captain hunting the deserted island with no mission (as in you just step outside). You get nothing from the missions themselves.

I thought you could only trade accountable items to him? You know, those "accountable items" you happen to get to get a random item?

I thought you said breaking Rathian's face gives a higher drop rate for plates

I'm trying to get a single plate, not resources
My bad I must have crossed your question with someone elses about resources for the capn which you have a better chance of getting if you break faces. Plates I hear have a higher drop the more damage dealt, but no clue.

It does. Though it's only a 3% chance of getting it for finishing the quest.
You could always do tail/plate runs. Same chance of getting it, alot less time wasted. Unless you're the kind of person who loses sleep at night over losing out on some of the items gained from finishing quests like I am.

It's such a pain in the ass trying to cut the tail off that I'd take the time after cutting the tail off to capture it, also I'm using a bowgun so cutting the tail is not going to happen
I've got Rathian down to about 10 minutes so it's not the biggest hassle but it's irritating that I have over 100 shells and no plates
Do you hunt online corporate? After the jhen event is over if you are US (USA USA USA sorry patriotism fit) I could help you get up to hunting rath + which has a better plate drop rate.

I would like to join in on that. Stupid Rathalos Plates keeping me from making the one piece I don't have.
For that matter, Rathian Plates are the same stumbling block, as soon as I go mine some more Isisium.
No surprise on either point, given the drop rates. But I would like to get my hands on those sets. Also, I'm sitting at HR29 and want to get to high rank land. Where all the cool kids live.
I need to run some regular jhen (need two braces and I can make that stuff and hopefully upgrade it to improved armor anyone know the mats requried to upgrade jhens normal to + levels?). I think I'm also HR enough to do alteron just have to get the required quests to unlock it (that's hr 50 right?). I worry if my lowly 330 armor is enough to not get smoked.

A while ago, I played MHFU and had a hard time with the controls and gameplay. I gave up in frustration soon after starting and shelved it. Flash forward a few months and I've fallen in love with Monster Hunter Tri.
I picked MHFU up again now that I have the basics down, and I'm shocked at how much harder MHFU is compared to Tri. The bosses are more aggressive and their tells are less obvious. Even the little monsters attack much more frequently. A Jaggi isn't even an annoyance, but a Velociprey will fuck you up!

Man, just looking at the MHFU wiki, THERE'S SO MUCH STUFF.
There's like a million different armors and weapons.
hope the next wii Monster Hunter has such a ridiculous amount of content.
I think this was the toe dip. If successful we'll probably get an expanded content monster hunter. I mean wasn't Unite also a second effort on the psp?

Yeah, Tri is a bit easier than Unite. Just wait until they release the G rank edition. The G rank Barroth will come out of your tv and return the game for you, as well as every other wii game you own. Then it'll return your wii, just for good measure.

The thing with the portable versions is that monsters have less HP but are more aggressive and do more damage. They did that so that fights would be quicker on the PSP but still deadly, thereby enhancing the whole "portable" aspect a bit.

That list is both not 100% accurate and doesn't account for differing rewards based on the quest (which there is), nor subquests at all.
This is from a guy whose gotten both plates and gems (though not from Rathian) as subquest rewards.
