I believe a reaper can kill two marines as long as he engages them one at a time. He gains the +light damage bonus on them you see.

its possible given that the identifier system is gone. If I was a pro-gamer I'd make damn sure I logged on asap to get my name back, but someone could have nabbed the name.
Remember the pro-gamers are in the same ladders as we are. I've played TLO on his US account.

Yeah I know, I was just irritated because he got his reaper to my base at the same time that I got 1 marine. He 1 rax reaper rushed, I 3 rax tech'd. Oh well.
I'm pretty sure it was the real idra - name was capitalized correctly and all that, and he had ridiculously good micro with his reaper. I couldn't kill it with my SCV's.

Also it doesn't take much micro to keep a reaper alive against workers.
In tournaments sure, but he quite possibly would play offraces. When you're *that* good, basic macro and micro skills would carry you over to more than sufficient levels of skill to win with the other races in the normal leagues.
And prefer to macro... do you really think he would be messing around with reaper rushes on the ladder?

It is more than likely to have been an imposter, but its not out of the realm of possibility that you could have genuinely played IdrA when he was just playing and messing around on ladder.
Idra slumming the ladder, practicing "cheese" builds.
edit: I get off in 5 minutes. It sounds like at least some people have had some mild success in finishing games. Does that mean I can get my hopes up a little bit and look forward to playing a game or two?

You won't fall to gold. Platinum is a pretty easy division now. I'm winning pretty consistently when I play. I've lost only one game in the 8-9 matches i've done since my placements, and that was to a diamond league player anyway.
I played a placement match the other day and ended up with a TvT. We were playing on Desert Oasis and both had the same idea of Reaper harass since those blocks are all over the place in placement matches. Just as I got to move out with my two Reapers, his two Reapers appear in my money line. He got a few SCV's before I stopped him. I changed tech to go for Dropships instead and low and behold, two more Reapers appear in my money line.
I took more losses before getting everything locked down again. I loaded up my Dropships with Marines, 2 Hellions, and a Siege Tanks and went for broke. Arrived and saw next to nothing in his base. Mopped up and won the game. Checking the results, this guy actually went 6 Rax, gas, and tech lab without building any SCV's.
Wow. I mean, I had the same number of Reapers in the same amount of time, but a stronger economy. No wonder I won. Weird strats for Beta, huh?

I'm predicting that Dangerisk will come in sometime tonight and say he was cheesed by Idra in SC1.

One time I played dagner and he tried to kill me with lings after he fast expanded but I held it off then kept up pressure with zealots until I killed his expansion then I slowly wore him down until I won!

Just sweeped my placement matches and got placed in Diamond.
My last match was against a toss that wanted to cannon rush on blistering sands. Scouted it, killed it off with scvs before the forge warped in, then went MMG. I arrived just as two voidrays finish and razed the base along with the chumprays in glorious retribution.
I've not been cannon rushed once but one time I just lifted to my natural. not ideal, and obviously the guy wasn't too good but it felt great.
Alright, I'm starting to get the hang of this, winning most games I play in silver.
One funny thing, playing against a zerg player. I go pretty standard MMM, scout him teching. I got a nice fat army of marauders and marines, bust through the rocks between us(forget the map name, the 1v1 thats shaped like a U). He knew I was coming because of overlords. So, he hits my clump of dudes with a bunch of banelings as I'm trying to break through, but only kills a few. Heal heal heal, break through the rocks, more banelings, same thing.
As I'm obliterating his base, he just says "lawl i shoulda won" and leaves.
Sorry your uber baneling strat didn't work, mr pro silver zerg player.
