I feel like there is nothing i can do as protoss to counter even a semi competent terran.
Just had a match where he was going early reapers so i went rush stalkers, took out his reapers, built a sentry and pushed my zealots and stalkers to his base, oh shit marauders and mass marines back out, build immortals and more stalkers/sentrys go back in, get raped by tank/marine balls there goes my base
I guess i could quick tech to templars and try and storm him? i've had no luck with collosi.

As I've recently been learning, past a certain point of marauders (12 or so), Immortals don't counter them so well since the Marauders can just alpha-strike snipe them to death.
And you said he had mass marine too...Immortals go down like sacks of crap to Marines, so not really the best choice there either.
Generally if I see mass marines, or mass marauders, or both, I drop what i'm doing, drop a robotics bay, expand if I can, make stalkers and sentries to keep myself safe from early attacks, get an observer over their base so I can see when they attack and get colossi out ASAP.
banelings do counter marine/marauder pretty hardcore, he should have won.
If he didn't suck, I suppose.
Sure, the counter should have worked, and it probably did, economically.
The problem is, when you don't expand, and expect two waves of six banelings to take out my ball of 20-30 stimmed, upgraded marines and marauders? Uhm... thats why you're in silver still.
Interesting. Links to videos of Ultralisk versus unit compositions of equal cost.
Not very good experiments, considering how different "real game" scenarios differ from just straight attacks, but if it means anything... The Ultras usually came out on top.
well it's just frustrating playing and countering constantly against terran who inevitably do the same thing in the end. So it seems like it wouldn't be much of a problem, however it always fucking is.
and just say no to void rays

PvT is the hardest matchup for Protoss, from my experience, yes.
MMM is just so powerful against anything the Protoss has short of Colossi, and you need 2-3 colossi plus meatshield support (chargelots, or normal zealots + sentries) to even have a chance. And they can get a killer force of MMM long before you can get two colossi unless you race to them, and that leaves you very exposed.
Well I guess I'll have to survive on better micro, even though that game i managed to rush stalkers and kill 2 of his scvs by microing my probe around his base while he tried to rush reapers.

the best thing i can recommend is the next time you go against a super good Terran, ask to friend him and just play matches against him until you can throw off MMM without too much trouble.
My standard play against terran was to open with a couple of gateways into a void ray harass if I scouted something other than masses of marines, and then if they built up an appropriate response tech down the templar path and go heavy on warpgates. Against builds that are marine heavy you are probably going to want colossi or HTs.
Edit: also, don't go too overboard on stalkers too early on unless you want to do some tricks with blink stalkers. You don't need many to shut down reaper rushes or harasses, and they take a lot of extra damage from mauraders while only doing a bit of extra damage back to them and they don't do any extra to marines. Stalkers start becoming better again later when you start getting huge masses of units and they have air support, as range becomes a bigger asset in those situations.

the absolute best army that you can muster against Terran ground is a whole ton of chargelots and between 3-6 colossi, the more the better.
But it takes time to make that and the colossi are both mineral and gas expensive while zealots can cost a lot of minerals to mass.

yeah but you still gotta spend 200/200 for the ultra den, 300/300 for ulta upgrades, not to mention get melee attack which you likely weren't already working on because you should still have a lot of hydras in your army. And they still come a lot later than thors or colossi.

That works pretty well, but you have to be really on the ball in case they go air, as it's not too hard for the terran to pump out a bunch of vikings to punish your colossi at long range. Or god forbid they get banshees. You'll still want some stalkers to be your core colossus bodyguards behind the zealot meatshield.
Well its been pretty stable most the night. Had fun in some 2v2 with randoms, would be nice having a teamate to actually play with though. I suck, so its not like teamates were why I lost though
One thing that makes big games hard is its really tough being the defending team. It takes so long to respond to an attack. In WC3 it was nice cause you had scrolls of TP to get there in time. Her, if its not scouted out, your teamate/s are dead.

I've found that unless they go heavy heavy air (which you will certainly spot), there is not much that a few air units can do.
If they get out 3-4 banshees and 2-3 vikings, sure I might lose my colossi but I've still got a ton of zealots and there is absolutely no way they can kill all of them before they do serious damage to the base. Usually I mix a couple of sentries in with the ball and one of the most fun things to do is walk up to their mineral line at their natural, forcefield both ends of it and go nuts with the colossi.

Sometimes I build up some cannons by a watchtower if the game starts going long enough as a forward staging base. I don't know if that's a good idea, but at least it lets me see what is going on and can serve as a roadbump.

Xel'naga watch tower control is CRUCIAL.
you can get away without it in 1v1 if you have a scout over their chokes.
being protoss I usually do.
but yes it is usually a good idea to have it regardless
unrelated note, does anyone know if Idra V Whitera is up for viewing anywhere? I know it won't be on Youtube yet but is it possible to watch past streams on Ustream?
Hay guys remember that dude we lost to in 4v4 then I asked him for a 1v1 and he thinks he's hot shit and tells me he's Diamond in every single game type 1v1/2v2/3v3/4v4/FFA? And then I proceed to roll him infront of his friends?
He's in my division now. UED Charlie!

it's not up anywhere yet because the new patch is incompatible with the games they played, so they can't cast the matches.
Idra vs WhiteRa was streamed already, they pre-recorded it. AFAIK it's not online anywhere yet but I could be wrong. The game they can't show is the 3rd place match between nony and TLO; because they weren't there to spectate and only have replays.

So I somehow won all 5 of my 1v1 placement matches and got moved into diamond league. Which I'm pretty sure is waaaay above my skill level. I won basically by 9pooling and ling rushing horribly crappy opponents some of which didn't even try to expand. I was bronze league and getting my ass kicked before the patch wiped my account. I played only 2v2's then so maybe that was the problem. How fucked am I? Should I be amazed that I managed to place that high or is that normal and I should just prepare to be beaten down to the lower leagues immediately?
Everquest was the first MMO that I know of that did that, it added a bejeweled style game to help with the downtime. Back then you had to sit and wait for your health and mana to come back, for minutes.

So it says here, "playtime expires june 23". That's not the beta deadline. Are they going to charge a fee for playing online?
The general concensus is that the timer was accidentally put in at this point, and it is only is going to apply to a few countries (Russia, I think is one).
I could totally see Blizzard charging a monthly fee, but I would hardly doubt they'd be trying to pull a fast one and not announce it until the last second. Sort of like them eliminating LAN play, they announced it a year ago so the sting has seemingly wore off.

It wasn't Blizzard, but independent modders made a wide variety of addons to emulate that sort of game, yes.
I don't recall this. Did it happen after 2001?
WhiteRa got schooled earlier, his shit didn't work so well like it did the other night vs. Idra.
Currently Sen vs. Check, Check did an awesome zergling rush in the first game.
