Just sweeped my placement matches and got placed in Diamond.
My last match was against a toss that wanted to cannon rush on blistering sands. Scouted it, killed it off with scvs before the forge warped in, then went MMG. I arrived just as two voidrays finish and razed the base along with the chumprays in glorious retribution.
I've not been cannon rushed once but one time I just lifted to my natural. not ideal, and obviously the guy wasn't too good but it felt great.
one time I got cannon rushed by another toss
he wasn't very good but he managed to kill most of my main base with cannons
thing is i had a scouting probe out before his cannons started so I made a forward base right next to his empty main and zealoted him to death
no one uses banelings yet so they were p easy. the non zergs i just went fast speedling and kept map control while expanding. later i'd do muta raids just to make him stay in his base while i macro'd to 200/200. now i understand why you pretty much have to harass zerg early to have a chance.
So I'm still getting toss down as a race, and I can't figure out which is more important to get, 'Lot Charge or Blink.
I think both are pretty situational and depends on the scout, but most of the time I can't figure out which oen to get right away.
Suggestions?
How good are you at microing? Stalker blink requires more micro than charge. If you feel very comfortable with your micro go blink I'd say. If not I would say go charge. Also if you are going to FF alot or if you are vs another protoss who is getting a lot of sentries for FF, definitely get blink first otherwise you could be very easily screwed.
charge will fortify your main army better than blink generally. if you plan to fight like MMM i'd get charge. get blink if you expect to hold off something like banshee or muta harass or later broodlords. Or if you plan on some clever harassment and have good blink micro. I've heard people say that blink is decent vs terran mech but haven't really seen it used that well yet.
zealots do tons of damage when they can get in and hit. if its a standard game id get charge.
So I decided to mass marines in FFA the other night. It was pretty fun. I had 140 3/3 marines with stim roaming across the map like a giant cluster of insanity. One player said to some other random player: "Well I guess you win bro" and then I rolled up into "bro's" base with my marine army, stimmed them, and watched as his whole base got decimated in like 10 seconds, lol. His response? "Wow... um, nevermind. I guess you don't win bro."

I would have loved to seen that army melted by banelings
So it says here, "playtime expires june 23". That's not the beta deadline. Are they going to charge a fee for playing online?
The general concensus is that the timer was accidentally put in at this point, and it is only is going to apply to a few countries (Russia, I think is one).
I could totally see Blizzard charging a monthly fee, but I would hardly doubt they'd be trying to pull a fast one and not announce it until the last second. Sort of like them eliminating LAN play, they announced it a year ago so the sting has seemingly wore off.
Yeah, definitely sounds like the limited play purchase options for odd countries.

This page. This page of this thread. This highlights my love/hate relationship with not only Starcraft 2, but any RTS game out there.
There are like 100 words/abbreviations/nicknames for strategies, units, specializations, etc that I have no fucking clue what any of you are talking about. Yet to be competitive, you sort of need to be current on it. I have no clue as to where to look for help (short of here), not the time to research it if I did.

Haha, me too! But it was melted by like 5 colossii. It was pretty epic.

Maybe I need to just cancel my pre-order
Applies to any competitive game really.
That is pretty much why Blizzard has implemented the different divisions in the ladder so that you end up playing with other players that also don't care about the minutia of Starcraft.

You could cancel your pre-order.
Or you could make a post on a forum asking what those terms meant.
If only there was a videogame forum that has a specific section (or perhaps a specific thread) devoted to StarCraft II, so your question would be appropriate, seen quickly, and hopefully answered quickly.
C'est la vie, you can't always get what you want. Better cancel IMO.

Just play custom games and the single player and you will be fine =p
Also if you need any help with anything let me know. I will review any replay footage you ask me to or even play games with you and help you with strategies etc.
PS I am a diamond level player and I am ranked 6th in my division.

If wc3 is to be taken as any indicator, starcraft 2 will be worth it merely for the custom maps.

Unless you run into entire nights of twink stomps like I do.

do you mean people who purposely lose all 5 placement matches so they can rape bronze level players?
What I'm trying to ask is - am I looking at old information, and it should be working?
Nope, that window was basically hard coded in there with patch 13 and have been showing ever since.
EDIT Actually, now the windows says something like "Bnet sucks and you will be disconnected multiple times, have a nice day". It doesn't mention custom maps anymore.
As opposed to having a weekend with quite a lot of hours set aside for just SC2 when the GF was out doing other stuff.
The developments post patch 13 was suboptimal for me, to say the least.
AARRgnbhghgnaruanr!!!!!!!
I didn't realize. Sorry!
No problem dude, I'm (mostly) joking. I went outside and looked at that big ball-y bright thing instead and had a few beers. It was nice, who'd have thunk it right?

Seems like the more appropriate term is sandbagging. I think of always sunny when I hear twink now, (twink and bear analysis).

Although I love always sunny that term eludes me. I don't know if my term was correct, but yes pretty much higher level players on alternate twink accounts.

Edit: good 4v4 games last night. We had a rousing evening of mass T1 units and then marching them into our enemies bases. Mass Carriers and VR's are no match for 100+ marines!

Yesterday I had a toss player open by building on my gas. I walked 5 zealots into his base, killed 4 of his without taking any losses, and he starts raging
