Videos

promo piece:

editing:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WcWNqpMk9jA

this video basically keeps going WINK WINK YOU CAN MAKE ACTUAL TEAM LOGOS IF YOU WANT

Anyone else tried this yet? My first impressions:

1) Looks pretty damn nice.

2) The animation is so good.

3) I could play Tackle Alley all day.

Also stuff I've noted:

* When selecting pre-made teams, you see the logos get 'created', since they were all made with the in game editor.

Interesting. I really like the direction Skate took with controls and physics-animation is always neat. Definitely gonna give this a shot.

I played this demo for about 2 or 3 hours yesterday. It was tons of fun and a day one purchase for me. I was a scorned 2k5 fanboy and won't buy Madden for spite. Team and player customization is going to rock and the first person views really add to the immersion IMO.

Played the demo through a couple of times and I mostly do fine on defence and runs but suck hard at passes. Any tips?

you mean throwing or defending passes? If defending, you can hold the left trigger (on Xbox) and your guy will square up on the ball. they didn't do a good job of going over it in the tutorial.

Throwing passes is where I was struggling, but then I only played through the demo twice, will try it again later.

ah, for offense another thing I learned was you could select your primary reciever before the snap so you don't have to cycle as much. Scan the field presnap, find out who you think is going to be open and set him as your primary reciver (hold left trigger and cycle with the right thumbstick).

Apparently Gamestop broke the street date and it's available from them for now.

Also the game apparently censors your player names in online mode. You can't use real NFL player names on characters, you have to abbreviate their first name

Also these PS3 guys are working on a file that will have all NFL teams. So if you're multiplat, you might want to get the PS3 version, since this is more than likely not possible with the 360 version.

we figured out if you put a space after the first name you can use any name you want.

    Dallas(space) Cowboys
    Tony(space) Romo

works like a champ and can go online :)

a buddy spent about 15 hours recreating the Raiders logo and learning the tool, can now make anything. It is an identical carbon copy of the Raiders. people are so jealous online

Someone needs to recreate all the Blood Bowl logos in that creator.

I've always thought the madden games were retarded. About as boring as watching football. This, on the other hand, looks pretty cool. About as fun as playing football. I'll definitely be checking this out.

What is tackle alley? Is that similar to the iPhone Backbreaker? Cause that was pretty awesome and if that's in the full game as well I'd be sold.

EDIT: I went and checked it out in the demo, and yup, that's exactly what it is. Awesome! I had no idea that mode was in there until I read this thread.

ya, tackle alley is the same as the backbreaker on the iphone.... I played it for like 3 or 4 hours and only got to wave 73 before bogging down. i can't imaging getting through all 100 waves.

Wholly crap i didn't know this was out... I was following it awhile back but kind of been away from it. I don't really care to play football games, but I really liked All Pro 2k8, and I like physx. I must wait six hours to go home an dl the demo.

This game is a blast, and I have never played a football game since Tecmo Bowl back in the day, and I stunk like a jock strap.

Question however, in the demo I find when I am receiving a punt, my team's AI always seem to get dinged for roughing the kicker. And I mean always. Is this an issue with the game? Am I doing something really stupid? Heck I am just sitting around about 70 yards back waiting to receive..

I picked up the PS3 version last night. Played one exhibition game and a bunch of tackle alley. I managed to scrape out a win in spite of throwing 7 interceptions. I need to get better at passing the ball. :)

Dorkman, I heard of other folks having that issue with the demo. I didn't have any issue in the game I played last night, so I don't know. I'm pretty sure it's not you though, it might be a bug in the demo.

I just really hope it doesn't translate into a full game issue. I love the game, and the customization is a real draw. But that to me is kind of a deal breaker...

Although, to be fair I got to practice my defence a LOT in the demo games I played.

Apparently it happens more if you're playing on Easy with a team that's really good against a team that's really bad, but they said they're going to patch the game for that.

So the jist I'm getting here is that this is going to be something faster paced like "Blitz: The League" without all the violence? Or is that going too far?

    It's normal football.

In retrospect, they probably should have seen the comparison to Blitz coming with a name like Backbreaker.

yeah it has to do with the defenders getting through the line easily but then trying to tackle the kicker instead of blocking the punt

Quick fix is to quickly take control of the players getting through the line and stopping them from going into the kicker

Yea, I was hoping.... I loved the Blitz games. 8-)

Please tell me it's at least more entertaining than Madden. If so I'm sure I'll check it out when it comes to the PS3

I tried this demo, and the controls just made no sense to me. Maybe I'll focus on learning to suck less in my old copy of NCAA 09.

There's a button control option so you don't need to use stick movements.

I found the tutorials really really helpful and I'm quite enjoying the stick movements. I think they'll make it easier for my dad to learn to play the game, we're going to give it a shot soon. The last video football game he played seriously was Madden 07 on the PC.
