So...on moneymaking....what do you guys think is the best source of consistent income? The gold bars from treasure hunting sell for quite a bit, but I personally am holding onto them as sort of a "back-up" plan. Probably sell 'em all when I max out the challenge. I don't think hunting can be quite as lucrative as anyone would like, seeing as it seems like you'll spend more on bullets than you'll make on skin and meat. So what do you think?
EDIT: Keep in mind, I ask this under the assumption that you will provide suggestions that don't cause me to lose honor.
hunting animals and skinning them, and doing bounties and taking them alive.
selling furs, teeth, claws, meat, etc. is how i made most of my cash, but bounties can pay huge amounts for a live dude
apparently five finger is the best way to make money though

Get the movie cinema quest (don't remember when you can get it). One part of the quest will cause you to be able play two guys at Liars' Dice for $200. Once you understand the game, it's pretty easy to beat them every time----easy $400 every time. You can keep doing this if you stick around but I think if you leave the town or die they disappear as well. I got up to like 7k abusing this.

I can only remember one occasion where I actually bothered to spend money on ammo. Between the storage box in whatever place I own that I happen to be near at the time and picking rounds off the dead, I'm usually good to go.

How do you easily win Liar's Dice? I've seen this mentioned a few times now but I've not paid it much attention to really learn how people are winning it easily.
I made most of my money early on with poker. I really like the gambling in this game.
Then after I had some income I just.... played the game. Hunting and skinning as I went along. You shouldn't really need to be buying bullets most of the time anyway.

Wait till there's only one dude at the table. Be honest as often as possible. You'll usually get lucky and if you win the first round it gets easier from there.

It's easiest if you find a table with just one guy. Thieves' Landing usually has one guy there, and the ante is $200. Very easy.
Yeah, just to clarify for everyone. The game isn't over til the credits roll. Keep that in mind.
I don't think that's really a spoiler but I guess if people want, I'll put in spoilers. I would just hate for someone to miss the real ending of the game because they didn't keep going.
Just started playing this game and I fucking LOVE IT (which is what I expected)
I love hunting. I haven't found a bear to hunt or a cougar, but I did find a boar. I was was like wtf is that big hairy thing-- oh a boar!
Also, totally did now know you could skin horses. I threw on my bandanna and went on a murder spree in thieve's landing and in the process killed some horsies, then saw the prompt come up to skin when I went near them. Next thing you know there are 3 skinned horses laying on the ground amongst dead guys. CREEPY.

Some tips:
If you can, always be honest.
Ramping up the bet as fast you can helps a lot. NPCs will often bluff to outrageous numbers.
Pay attention to the numbers they bid. They generally won't lie in the beginning, and it gives you a good idea as to what dice they may have so you can call other people's bluffs.
Use statistics to your advantage. Pay attention to the possibility of a bet being untrue. NpC's are highly highly likely to make bids that are literally impossible to take seriously. This is especially true when you have them down 1 on 1. They'll say that there's 3 of something when they only have two dice in their hand and you definitely don't have it.
In one on one situations, always tell the truth if you have more than one of something. 90% of the time they will call it a bluff which makes for easy wins.
Similarly, if you are one on one and they have a small number of dice, they'll generally tell the truth when they have one dice, but will lie stupidly if the bet comes to them and yours seems probable. I've had them bet two of something with a single dice in their hand.
It's a little trickier in the beginning of the game with tons of dice on the board that you can't know about, but paying attention to their bids helps determine what kind of dice they have. Sometimes you just have to go out on a limb and call a bluff or call it good.

Depends on what you hunt. I've had a lot of luck with wolves, especially since they'll keep attacking if you let one live.
Or do some hideouts. No shortage of ammo there!
If you're good at Liar's Dice, the game in Thieves Landing is worth $200 a pop.
Live bounties get $240 plus loot; and if you just leave the guy on your horse, gang members will keep spawning and attacking you.
Bounties vary, I just got one that's $600 alive, and I've had one that was $40 alive back in the first area. The gang continues to attack you even if you kill him, but still stop when you turn in the bounty for some reason.
I'm still in the first act, so I guess I have to wait to see such high bounties; but I also haven't needed money for anything other than a gun and a horse deed that I bought on a whim.

Do yourself a favor and buy the Improved Campsite as soon as you can. It refills all your ammo whenever you make camp, which you can do as often as you want.

I must be retarded, but I cannot figure out how on earth you are supposed to win the mission "Pestilence". I just cannot do it, there is just absolutely no way:
I can shoot that many fucking crows before they eat all the corn. I fail it every time

Cheese it by changing it to casual targeting? I did it pretty easily and I had it on casual.

Does it notify you when it does that? I've had the improved campsite for a long time, but I've never noticed my ammo being replenished. Someone on another forum said that it only gives you ammo if you have none left.
Can anyone explain the intricacies of dead eye lv.2? I keep shooting up bounties now instead of wounding them in the leg.
As you sweep your reticule over them, it will 'tag' parts it sweeps over, up to the amount of ammo in your gun (6 shots, 6 tags, 10 shots, 10 tags, etc). You can start firing prematurely by pressing fire. This will fire the amount of bullets you have tags and end dead eye, or just tag as many as you have bullets which starts firing as soon as the final tag is placed. The key is sweeping over only the parts you want to hit.

Try to aim at their leg or away from them entirely before activating dead eye, since it will automatically start painting targets immediately. For bounties, I usually just kill everyone else first, then charge them with a lasso on horseback. If I have to shoot them, I make sure to switch to my revolver first.
|EDIT| By the way, is there any way to cancel dead eye level 2-3 without shooting anyone?
Yeah, not being able to get the Deadly Assassin outfit is really frustrating. Mo got away from me, then I looked at a map, which auto-saved it. I heard something about missed bounties not showing up again, so I started over, and took Walton alive, which can apparently cause Mo ot not show up at all.

Also let go of aim, that cancels dead eye (pretty sure it does anyway).
Has there been any update on the Dead Eye outfit debacle?
What debacle?
It's a low level bounty that gets it for you, and you can miss it if you go through the game too quickly. The game won't spawn the bounty for you after 'level' too much. How the game knows what 'level' you are, I don't know.
Having finally knifed my two cougars I am now really looking forward to shooting them in the face as many times as I have bullets from this point forward. That legend of the west outfit better be worth it.
Money: Wolves+birds = profit. kill a ton of wolves, birds come, kill a ton of birds, by the time your finished you have 20+ bits of animal good for selling. I am never out of money in this game. Ammo = always take advantage of those boxes in your living quarters and always loot corpses.

A common problem for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 owners is that the preorder code from Gamestop does not work. It is unknown if Rockstar is fixing this or not. The downloadable content list displays the deadly assassin outfit but it does not show up in game and as of now cannot be obtained.
The outfit only appears to work for the profile that activated it, disallowing other profiles on the same system to use the code.
Other issues stem from Mo van Barr not appearing as a bounty in game at all for some gamers. It has also been reported that killing Mo Van Barr before activating their pre-order codes will 'glitch' the game and not allow the player to obtain the outfit despite having killed him previously. Some players have noticed that killing Walton in the mission Political Realities in Armadillo (The Marshall's first mission in Armadillo) will cause Mo van Barr's bounty to show up (It should be the first bounty after this mission).
Sometimes, problems with claiming the outfit can be tied to the American Appetite stranger mission.
Players that go into the outfits section of the menu and choose to track the tasks needed to claim the outfit report it directing you right to the end of the mission. This may cause a glitch, and even though the mission will technically be completed, it won't get checked off in the outfits menu, meaning the Deadly Assassin Outfit will be unclaimable.
It has also been reported that gamers who do not have Xbox Live (XBL) cannot get the outfit.
He never showed up when I started a new game. I took my time with things too.
I'm not sure if this has already been posted, so I apologize if this is no new revelation.
Parking your horse on top of dead animals removes the annoying animation when you skin the animal. Saves a helluva lot of time.
Yeah, but when you have 4-5 animals to skin, getting on the horse and moving it 5 times takes longer than just watching the skinning animation.

Ending spoiler:
I'm wondering, what the hell do I do at the end of the game now once I've finished a certain mission? Doesn't seem to be any missions or similar that have appeared, so I'm royally confused as to what the game wants me to do now. Do I just wander around doing whatever?
Have I run into a bug that has denied me the ending?
My first cougar encounter happened tonight. I was in Armadillo, and a man comes barrelling through town, screamin' bloody murder.
And then I saw the two cougars on his tail. It was like two brown demons wanted to drag him to hell.
I bust out my repeater rifle, to get to God's work. I pop one cougar in its evil face without deadeye - a lucky shot. However, in the meantime, the man - and the other cougar - have blown past me down the tracks.
I give chase to the best of my ability, and I think the man might have known I was there to help, cuz he looped around. The cougar was there, and I was ready. I activated deadeye, took aim, and fired. But I didn't expect what happened next.
The man leapt in the way of one of my bullets, blowing his head clean off. The rest of the bullets took the cougar down, but the man was dead.
The law is unforgiving in the West, and I was saddled with a 40 dollar bounty. Suddenly, I'm surrounded by lawmen and would-be heroes, my horse clear across town. I try to run, try to find a place to hide before I ultimately get shot to death from all sides.
I...I think the man was afraid he'd become a werecougar. He was saving us all.
