worse part is when you blast them somewhere you can't see
and the save button keeps gettin' blanked out because they're hiding behind a rock a mile away or something

I remember accidentally blasting a Geth off a mountain on one of those "kill everyone to precede" missions. Had to slide down it just to find the damn thing.
My favorite part of ME1 was throwing grenades through walls.
I imagine they flew forever.
"And so, Billy the Batarian knew then that he must guide his people forward, into a new age of peace, prosperity, and equality. Everyone there knew only Billy could end the batarian practice of raiding, slaving, and murdering their way throughout the galaxy. When, suddenly, an inferno grenade, as if my by some cruel jest from the gods, flew threw the wall, exploding inches from Billy's face..."

Anyway, I was going to comment, and this is probably one of those things where I'm too tired to understand, but:
why the hell is renegade shep just allowed to execute talim in Thane's loyalty quest without any consequences to him/herself? All Bailey says is that Kolyat killed some bad people and he needs to bring him in. What about SHEPAR? WHO JUST SHOT THAT DUDE RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU? "is it because I is spectre?"

You think Bailey wants to mess with someone who hunts million year old machine demon things and kills armies of mercs and what have you for a living? Who's trying to help him? Who has a trained assassin with him and is armed to the teeth? And who was, yes, a former Spectre and depending on the decisions you make, a guy who has a guy he knows as a friend on the Council? Not to mention he just shot a guy Bailey doesn't much care for right in front of him.

it was a tense hostage situation. things happened fast, and talim got killed in the crossfire. there was nothing bailey could do.
and that's what's going in his report.

To clarify the difficulty - I'm playing on Veteran difficulty, have already completed in on Insanity and it was just too much of a drag to do it again for no benefit. I like my sniper rifle one shotting guys Although the Geth Destroyers are just a *bit* tough for one shotting still
On Insanity, I did enjoy bringing Liara with my Adept and lifting / throwing guys into space. As in, they were just a little speck floating off in the distance
i actually liked insanity for the first couple of battles in ME1
the only gunfights in the entire game where i had to use cover and think about strategy
every other one is just me running around plinking away with my pistol
every
other
one
this is why combat in ME2 is so much better.

Yeah. The initial fights on Insanity are pretty Insane. Pop your head out and you get ripped up, can only fire for short bursts, and loooong cooldowns on all your powers. Lotsa fun, once you get the hang of it and lose the bad habits you got into earlier.

I just started ME1 again to run through it for the Insanity achievement and I found it funny that for the first 5 or so fights I kept thinking to myself that I had to hurry and get the Geth's shields down so I could biotics before I remembered that wasn't the case.
Edit: I also remember how much I hate the old inventory system.
it's kind of funny how the people who know most about tech have the lowest opinion of AI, but Mordin has a very high opinion of organic life
Kasumi is ok with rewriting the geth because they're just "fancy security mechs" and even though EDI sometimes seems like a person to her, she can't get past her just being an AI
Hey, question: In a New Game + In ME1, can I switch classes or am I locked into what I picked the first time?
If you start a new game + from an imported ME2 clear, you'll begin with your levels, 200k bonus credits, 50k of each resource, and access to whatever new weapons you unlocked during your first playthrough (NOTE: just the weapons themselves; all your purchased upgrades are lost). You'll also have access to whatever bonus ability you chose from your squad member in the previous save. You cannot switch your class.
If you start from a new game + ME1 save after clearing ME2, you'll begin at a low level (I believe the starting level depends on the character that you import) with 50k of each resource, 200k credits, and the starting weapon set. You'll also receive an additional 120k (I think) credits if you import a rich ME1 character, and you'll be able to switch your class.
If you start a brand new character after clearing ME2, you'll obviously be able to pick your class. You'll start at level 1 with 50k of each resource, 200k bonus credits, and the starting weapon set.

Didn't see this mentioned yet: according to this article at the Escapist, Bioware is looking for a multiplayer programmer for the Mass Effect franchise.

Yeah, it was already mentioned. Everyone's pretty much expressed their opinion as:
"Hopefully this is just a spin off game, no multiplayer in my ME3"

Well that's a stupid opinion, I don't want to buy a separate game to shoot batarians with strangers from the Internet.

The thing is, if they take time to produce a multiplayer section, that's time taken away from making the single player fuck-awsome with comprehensive resolutions to player's choices in the first games.
On the other hand, man ME2's shooting is awsome. Multiplayer DM with classes? Hell yeah.

Fixed. I'd be ok with it being multiplayer in the main game though, as long as the main game doesn't get ill effected by a lacking multiplayer component weighing it down and stealing it's dev moneys. And a co-op in the main game would be good at least if they decide to place multiplayer in a separate game.

...then get up and resume shooting at you.
It still works, especially on Geth, but it's a crapshoot.

Nah, the worst part is in ME2 when you throw/singularity someone below the ground and then you can't save or advance without reloading.
Like the krogan boss in Mordin's loyalty mission, I tossed his ass into the pits. He should've died.

Sorry, I think you're locked into your choices (including class) for NG+ in ME1.

O.O
Only good things can come of this development.

remember the orgasmic brainstorming this topic had of a Mass Effect game in the Red Faction engine
How could I forget? That was one of the best tangents we've ever had.
I have that tangent part of the thread bookmarked for future reference.
Same here man. Every time I look at it I laugh uncontrollably because it's just so awesome.
Just the thought of it is pretty awesome
