most listed jobs here are for the army

man chu the only way you could be in a worse circumstance to find a job was if you were like 60 years old and living in detroit.

you need to get out of philly, buddy. you're too smart and talented to let yourself set into the kind of squalor and torpor you're facing right now.

    :(

so long as you aren't in the army, is there really a problem with working for them?

    civilian style.

all these job listings are basically army recruitments- they're not 'work for a us army contractor'... they're recruiting you to be an army engineer or architect or whatever

i have zero moral scruples if that's what you're asking

but these listings aren't for that

pretty much all the jobs I see on usajobs.gov in philly are for civilians.

if you click on detailed view and the pay schedule says 'GS' then its a civilian job.

See that trail? That's what a big-as-a-house boulder does while falling into a 60-meter-wide crater
on the Moon. Why? NASA said that maybe it was an earthquake. Or micro-asteroids impacts.

This new Black Keys is some next level shit, I'm telling you.

Anyone else ever hear a song and start planning its music video out in your head? Only happens with good music, not so coincidentally.

I do it all the time.

It's the worst smell. Asparagus pee.

The first time it happened to me I thought I was dying. I thought that I must have peed pure infection.

i don't know the exact percentage but i'd guess it's 50% or so just based on the people i've talked to.

apparently the smell is incredibly pungent and unmistakable. i can't smell any difference at all.

i can smell garlic, oregano, and coffee in my urine though.

well i mean escaping circumstances isn't just a choice

optimally one day i will no longer have to put up with this crap- my toxic environment and family- but i can't just work on the tenuous promises of friends

like, if i crashed with a friend in san diego or queens, i don't see how that does anything but weaken my position

1.) i won't really have a permanent local address, i'll have to deal with all that

2.) my residency in all those places is super tenuous... my friends 'think they can swing it with their parents for a while'

3.) the economy is shitty everywhere and i have no savings

i'd love to have a supportive and sane family to lean on in a better part of the country while i find something worthwhile but that doesn't seem feasible right now

You can live with me, Organ, on the condition that I get to use you as a horse occasionally. You would wear a saddle and take me from place to place and I could feed you oats. Rent would be manageable.
