ranged.. and casters are two completely different things... I didn't say "ranged" on melee mobs.
I guess I just figured that people playing said class wouldn't need basics explained to them..
Melee is the exact opposite of what Hunters are. The whole notion of "melee, just ranged" is so offensively stupid I have to conclude you're suffering from some pretty severe mental retardation.
I'm just shocked that people that don't know what to do don't speak up. Even if you just know the 'basic' information, saying so goes a long way towards speeding up a run.
Vent.. I'm on the fence about. I just recently got it because a buddy of mine gave me a mic set for my birthday. Sure its easier to just speak your rules/strats etc... but honestly, I've raided all the way through TOC by using mods and raid chat/warning... I don't get why people make it a requirement.
I don't think a mic is necessary for everyone, but being able to listen in is helpful. It is far faster to say a strategy than type it out.

really? are hunters not a ranged class that deals melee damage? because hell if they're casters, we need to let all those hunters stacking armor pen they're doing it wrong.

agreed. I said it was easier. now required? not so sure about that. I hear enough people speaking nonsense on a daily basis, i kind of liked that my video games didn't require me to listen to more. :-)

Melee refers to distance. The word itself actually refers to a hand-to-hand struggle or brawl.
I wish I played on mturalon's magic server of pseudo-competent PUGs.
I made two forays into ICC25 on my druid last raid week. The one on Saturday wiped twice on Marrowgar, and I decided to leave after that pitiful showing knowing that there was no hope of killing Saurfang, which is the only boss of the first 4 that drops any upgrades for me. The raid leader was a DK tank with the swordshattering (+parry) runeforge and gemming parry rating.
The one I did last night killed Marrowgar "cleanly." There were no deaths, but I noticed the DPS was pretty low. I came in at over 10k, having done 11% of the raid's total damage, with the second person at around 7k, and quickly getting more pitiful from there. There were multiple DPS below 3k (and their gear was pretty bad for ICC25 (OMG GS DOESN'T MATTER)).
Deprogramming (save Darnavan) was our weekly. After two pitiful Deathwhisper wipes, we decided to just kill Darnavan so everyone could focus on the "normal version" of the fight. We wiped one or two more times, and then that was it.
This is going to go in my little black book which I will never read again!
Speaking of, I really wish Blizzard would add a notes feature to the ignore list like the friends list has now. I want to know if that person on my ignore list is there because they are an asshat I never want to group with again or just because I didn't want to see their spam that one time.
You can use an addon like Elitist Group to leave player notes about the people you group with. I know our druid tank uses it to keep track of bad pug leaders and silly geese in random heroics.
I pulled the trigger on the mobile auction house. I figured that the enjoyment I'd get out of a mild distraction from crap at work was well worth $3 per month.
I think that a lot of the issue with terrible PUGs in general is that the competent leadership is either A) already locked to the raid with their own guild, or retired and no longer interested in taking charge.
I'm as guilty of this as anyone. I ran a 25 man raiding guild for over a year, from Naxx up through ICC. I learned all about how to whip a group into shape, explain the fights succinctly, ensure that everyone was having a good time, all that nonsense. But it was an intense amount of work and eventually it burned me out.
Now that I'm back I keep grouping up with these shit-awful PUGs but honestly I don't care. There's a million things that could be done better if I wanted to put my own together, but who needs that stress? Especially with PUGs, where any effort you put in will simply have to be repeated the next week. I get the impression that a lot of the more competent group members are the same way- they could raid lead and do a fine job of it, but they just don't give a damn.
I think my ideal thing would be a recurring weekly PUG. Same time, same core group every week, and pick and choose extra members as we got to know them. I'm not really sure how to go about setting it up though, as I'm not super well known on my new server.
I think the implication is that it does more than the WoW app while simultaneously being cheaper? I don't know enough about Fallen Earth to really know if it's an apt comparison. In any case, WoW has always been priced more around "What the market will bear" than any actual value.
2 - Is the pvp set you can buy for honor points any good?
My PVP set is entirely from honor and Wintergrasp tokens, and I'm at 982 resilience now. The Furious Gladiator set (minus shoulders) and shoulders from 40 Wintergrasp tokens is a good start.

I have nothing from arena, only honor and a couple of VoA wins and I'm at almost 1200 resiliance with my pvp gear.
Very much worth it.

It's not competitive versus the arena gear or the ICC 25-man gear (basically anything over item level 260), but it's fine versus anything else. You just have to pray that your BG match doesn't contain any arena jerks or raiding jerks.

My server has something like this called Leftovers.
It works pretty well, I have raided with them. Unfortunately the more progressive charters have gotten more elitist in choosing who they will take, but it's still a million times better than raiding with a pug.

The main problem is getting the credibility to start it up, though. You won't get a lot of people signing up until victory is assured (in their minds), and it's hard to have a lot of preliminary success without relatively experienced people.
I think the best way might be to start it as a 10 man weekly first, and then expand it. ICC 10 is out though since I'm currently running that with the Clawshrimpers.
I disagree on trying to start as a 10m. We have a 25 man pickup raid on Sunday nights on my server. Pretty much the same people, and it got started by a few guild leaders who were doing 10 mans, encouraging a bunch of people to try 25m.
For most of us, it was a "What the heck, we aren't doing a 25m anyway" kind of try, and we're now clearing the first two wings in one night.

Physical damage is the term you are looking for.
Physical damage or magical damage is the terms we use as well to avoid confusion.

This is Hellscream PUG raiding.
The damage you're doing is right around what I'm seeing on the Pugs I've gotten into.
love that movie, and yes, the term I meant to use was 'physical'
I just wanted an excuse to use a quote/pic from The Princess Bride.
I also refuse to make a big deal out of it.

Look at the ONE TIME cost.
