Blizzard's apparently got a survey going asking would you be interested in buying additional character slots for your realm. I, for one, am shocked that they would charge money for that. Shocked. Who do they think they are, Activ oh yeah that's right.
No, but, I'm off the opinion that charging for extra crap like this is fine.
Man people are willing to pay money to switch servers, switch races, switch factions and switch sexes of course people will be willing to pay money to add more character slots.
As long as it's a one-time payment per realm and not an addition to the monthly fee, I'd be fine with it. Perhaps for people who want to have one of every race on a server.

I'd really hope that'd be the case.
End on
I wish that someway, somehow, that I could save every one of us
I am at a point where my thinking is "if I am playing when Cataclysm comes out I will delete my Draenei shaman to make a dwarf one and my human warlock to make a worgen one." The servers where I play horde have slots available.
And they know they have people who have made 10 characters and after 5 years are attached to them so they won't want to delete them just to make a character of the new race so throwing 5 to 20 dollars at blizzard to get them would be something a lot of people will find worthwhile.
If it's a fee I have a feeling it's going to be something like $25 or more. Someone said it earlier about they know how to bend someone over the barrel when it comes to fees.
It kicked me from my tourist of a death knight. It was odd to see people acting pleasent to each other and none of the anal, gear score and arguements that usually take up the trade channel

If it's 20 dollars then you might as well just buy a race change when the new race/class combos are available. Save yourself the time.
They should give two new slots to everyone for the two new races, but I have a hunch that wont happen as activision's wallet needs more padding. I'd also like to see server transfers for 5k gold or something, but I don't think blizzard will give up the income on that even if it would be a good gold sink.

New races, eh. Although if/when they add an 11th class they must add another slot.

I like how people attribute the desire for money from a business as some kind of weird evil rather than paying for a service provided. The service has value because people want it...and when people want something and will pay money for it, giving it away for free tends to upset the people who like making money.
edit: Granted, I say this as a WoW player who has not yet felt compelled to pay for anything extra.
I'd like to see the prices on some of their extra services(name changes, server transfers, etc) come down to a more reasonable amount. They're already making buckets of money from the subscription fees. Gouging their customers just creates ill will.
And it's just possible with the lower prices more people will use those services and they end up making even more money than they would have otherwise.
Yeah, it's not like they picked the service price levels arbitrarily. Companies like making profits, so they picked the price that lets them make the most of it.
Also while I'm sure the "price as high as people are willing to pay" plays a big role in the prices I don't find the idea blizzard has put forward that they price them higher to try and make it so the services aren't used trivially to be completely without merit.

I'm guessing the price is set more from a "How much extra work are we creating versus providing a valuable service to our customers" standpoint.
They have to balance out the accessibility with customer desire. If server transfers, race changes, faction transfer, etc. were free or an otherwise trivial amount of money, you'd see a lot more people opting for these on a whim, instead of the more calculated decision it is now.
The bottom line is Blizzard has no obligation to provide any extra services at all.
Seriously, people act like $25 is a huge financial burden that only the most elite of society's elite can afford. That type of moaning just gets old after a while.
I dunno man, we don't really have anything to base our irrational hatred on. Like if we had any way of knowing at all who's behind what we could go nuts with the blame, it'd be rad.
I blame those dirty immigrants comin' on our internets and takin' our jerbs.

Trooth. That annoys me to no end. At the very least it's an easy Frost badge and you know, some people may need gear off of him. I am holding out hope I will actually have some luck and get some T10 this week. So far Toravan has been a complete goosebag to me.

I thought the Fire Guy still dropped Triumph badges, with Toravon being the only one that drops Frost.

I thought he dropped a Frost for some reason. Maybe he doesn't. I never pay attention to badge drops when they happen since they are not physical items anymore.

Maybe they're just in the wrong business...?

Still, that rubs me the wrong way. That's the kind of shit we should get for free.

I just wanted to max out Engineering and Alchemy for my level 10 Priest!

They'll add one if you pay for it, yeah.

I blame Bush.
I blame capitalism.
