Ken v. Ken and Abel v. Abel are amazing. Not because they're fun but because they're so stupid they become awesome. Simultaneously whiffed TTs or Flaming SRK contests!

Ken V Ken is totally fun when played properly too. One of the few mirror matches I enjoy a whole lot. One thing though, why is it so awkward to do cr.forward xx FB FADC U2? It's such a simple motion but I'm hells of unsure when doing it.

Re: wake up reversal or ultra

I still never expect these, gotta stop doing meaties on no scare players.

I'd be happy if they just reduced ultra damage by 50% or a similarly large number.

There's nothing wrong with building meter from getting hit. You gain super meter when you get hit, too. It's been this way for a while. Gaining meter is inevitable either way. Ultras just build very quickly and do massive damage.

I'm just not a fan of any radically deviant high-damage move that is systemic instead of individual.

Of course i prefer low damage games in general.

In more relevant news, I think I might ranbat tonight.

As much as I hate eating wake-up Ultras, I appreciate the elasticity they bring to a match. If you don't want to eat a wake-up Ultra you don't put yourself in a position to eat a wake-up Ultra, the theoretical threat they pose is something you have to keep in mind when applying pressure.

High damage > low damage. Hate that trend in fighting games last decade.

If you want a meter that builds when you get hit but doesn't give you an advantage you can sit on all round, look no further than an SNK(or Melty Blood)-style rage meter. Once it fills it pops automatically and starts to drain. You have that window to use the move. There are usually added effects, like slightly more damage, but that's not always the case.

I'll agree with this... though, I can't say I completely hate it. The only game I play where this is the case is pretty much SF4. SC4 damage seemed pretty high (maybe not as high as in 2, but it's literally been years since I've played 2 so meh).

And despite being incapable of playing super turbo anymore, I really enjoyed the much faster paced matches.

Random question. After I purchase the new Brawlers pack next week, I will have precisely enough MS points to purchase a second pack.

I already have Brawler pack 1, and Super Challenger pack 2. What is the "best" 3rd pack I could buy, either for Super or Vanilla?

    Hiryu02 on
Sev: Your gameplay is the most heavily yomi based around. Usually you look for characters that allow you to force guessing situations for big dmg. Even if the guess is mathematically nowhere near in your favor lol. You're happiest when you have either a 50/50, 33/33/33 or even a 75/25 situation to go crazy with. And you will take big risks to force those situations to come up.

Wake up Shenigans are essential.. Even total flowcharts will learn that they do not need to do anything on wakeup to reset the situation.

If a guy does a lot of srks, or random ultras, or wakeup ultras, you still need to apply pressure. If not your giving up the advantage of the knockdown i nthe first place.

dunno if you heard me over mic, but you can only do cannon spikes (regular) jumping forward. Not sure if you were trying to do it jumping back/neutral, but it doesn't work unless it's EX.

    Oh yeah i know
i was doing the qcb then up forward... I never really play cammy but i like her rushdown. Thats why i kept jumping up and back for some reason.

Was trying to do it as fast as possible.

guile does more damage overall, his links are way easier, his ultras do comparable damage to everyone else's, his new ultra is pretty great and does good chip damage, he can df.hk > any flash kick, i think he can fadc flash kick into Ultra 2, and sunglasses.

also his boom charge time is reduced.

Actually his U1 went from a crappy almost no damage Ultra to one of the more damaging ones in the game. It's on par with Akuma's U1 for SSFIV.

Also the charge time reduction is pretty much negligible. I think his case is pretty much the same as Dictator's. Where most of the characters got at least some nerfs he didn't really get anything nerfed, got a few things buffed, and it made a turn around for the character.

Also sunglasses. Can not underestimate that addition.

That's actually somewhat simple to use once you've practiced enough.

Just piano the MP with any kick button, hold the kick down and perform the hayate, and the cancel is pretty much instantaneous.

I haven't gotten around using it in a real match yet but it's useful.

I use a pad, so pianoing is out.

To do MP xx Hayate Cancel i do:

MP -> QCF lp+lk. You have to hold the lp+lk for split second. Can't just tap it.
