I want to unlock the kid, but I always fear I don't have enough time. I'm terrified of getting through the first level, running out of time and having to turn the game off before finishing the rest.

Same here. I'm sure I'd get it eventually but I just don't think I can get long enough uninterrupted TV time to dedicate to the effort. Demanding wife and baby!

Just the wife here, but she's demanding a baby if that counts?
Ha ha, my kids were playing SMB yesterday, too. The both made it up to around 1-13 or so unaided. I was so proud.

Hey not too surprising. Remember back in the NES days and all the pure bullshit in games that you eventually beat? The same stuff that nowadays makes you go, "No, fuck this shit, my hands have become arthritic."
Tell me about it. Took me an hour last night to get the "Doing Things the Hard Way" Shiny (Veni Vedi Veci) in VVVVVVV, and man did I yearn for the dexterity and reflexes of my youth.
so i was gifted this game (thanks idolninja!), and it's pretty great in terms of presentation and music
i can just tell, though, that i won't be 100%ing it
is there a wiki to the game? i'm marginally interested in unlocking characters, but bandages seem extremely masochistic considering you have to not die after getting them

So. What has two thumbs and is buying a wired XB360 controller?
:^::o:^: this guy
Two hours on this the other day killed my fingers. And fuck you, spacebar.
This is a fun growl in frustration every few seconds type platformer. I think some of the levels are a little too long though in absence of a checkpoint system. I don't mind the jumps being difficult, I just get tired of doing the same shit over and over again when I have it in muscle memory so well that I make the jump 9 out of 10 times.

the game reminds me of one of those "keep the ball bearing on the track" puzzlers i played with as a child
eventually you can do certain parts in your sleep - checkpoints would ruin that to some extent

The worst is when you get so into the level, so far into muscle memory, that when you do eventually get passed that part you have been banging your head against for 20 minutes, you give yourself a few seconds of thought. "Oh wow I did it!"
Thats when you fall into the lava pitt for not paying attention. :P

ahah, exactly. one thing i find the game needs, though, is a camera pan function. i'd love to get a good look at the entire level before i start playing it. occasionally, i'll check out a youtube of the level just to see what i can expect. helps me cut down on those 'WOW I GOT PAST THAT OH GOD WHAT NOW' deaths.

But there arent many blind jump deaths. Or are there?
I dont recall any real leaps of faith till The End, and most of those were optional time shaves.

Just tried this with my PS2 controller via USB converter.
For some reason the sprint button is triangle and jump is circle. That is awkward. I'd much rather it be square and x. Would have to figure out how to remap them if I felt like bothering, but even though it wasn't ideal it still pretty much confirmed to me that I much prefer keyboard for this game.

There's a key config file in the game's directory - you can assign jump and run to different pad buttons.
Personally, I use my Classic Controller Pro. This pad is effing wonderful.
Whoever thought 7-20's level design was a good idea should be fired. It's like the most tedious, uncreative, horrible stage in the entire game. Just awful.

Well there's only 2 people on the team, so if one of them were fired, we probably wouldn't get any future content.

Nah, but he's right about there being some levels where it would be nice to know what's next before you start. Some stages (like the one that warps you all over) it's part of the challenge, but with others it's just a long left-to-right and seeing it once beforehand would help the player out quite a bit.

I was being facetious about the firing thing :P
But seriously, it's a horrible, horrible level. It's like beating this one idea into a bloody pulp over and over and over again and it wasn't even a good idea for a level in the first place.
Fuck you corridors filled with circular saws!

I've had this problem with pretty much every game I've tried my PS2 controller with, the defaults are always set to the most inconvenient buttons possible on the controller. Eventually I got sick of remapping all this stuff in every game I played and just forked out for a 360 controller.
I did finally beat it, it was the only stage in this game that I can honestly say I hated playing. I found it incredibly tedious and repetitive and boring. Like all the jumps were short timing jumps, you don't feel like you're really moving anywhere, the first half of the level is incredibly easy but still takes like 25 seconds to get through safely, so you're constantly doing the same boring simple jumps over and over again to get to the ones which are actually a challenge...
For the most part such a fun game though. Need to go back and get the rest of the A+ I haven't done now.

Just thought wrist pains might come from using the keyboard because I can relate to that. :P
Get a controller with auto-fire
That said, I'm just using Super Meat Boy for every level, I'll go back and use the other characters to get some of the harder to reach bandages.

They work pretty well for 2D games.
Just, what the fuck. I don't get it.
We need to save a DNA sample.
One day an alien armada will come.
Earth's defenses will lie in ruin.
It will all come down to one pilot and a prototype starfighter.

you can reconfigure the run and jump keys, so you at least don't have to use space.
a gamepad is probably the best option, but I've gotten as far as The Kid without one, so :V

You've got some crazy Naija times that I can only assume are glitches which I haven't been able to replicate due to patching...?
