Mac newb question about MobileMe

Recently became a new convert to Apple and I've got a question about the MobileMe program. Is there a way to keep stuff seperate between my wife and I? My wife has a lot of contact info for people I barely know, if at all, and I don't want them cluttering up my iPhone's contact list. I really want to have the ability to sync our iPhones though. Any advice?

You can use Groups in Address Book. Have group called <Wife> <Husband> <Shared> then set your iPhone to only sync Husband and Shared.

Have you purchased MobileMe or are you on the free trial? I ask because there are rumours that Apple may make it free, and if so it'll likely be announced at WWDC. My free trial is up next week but I'm holding out to see if they cut the price at all before deciding if I'm going to buy it.

What are the primary benefits of MobileMe?

Online storage and synchronization of settings/data between Macs. If you've only got one Mac, however, it really isn't too terribly useful (although it does still have its benefits). Have a look at the product page for more info on its other features.

I love MobileMe for the calendar and contact syncing between my Mac, iPhone and iPad. Find Your iPhone is good to have for peace of mind, as well. But I don't think it's worth the cost, especially when you can replicate most of its features for free with Google, Dropbox and Flickr. But if Apple does make it free, or even drop the cost to something like $20, I'm on board for sure.

Yes, whatever@me.com (or @mac.com--either will work).
