We're talking about a company that once took nine years to release a game after announcement, here. I wouldn't take any bets on what the deuce is going on with Ep3.
What? What game was that? Half-Life 1? I remember Half-Life 2 being like a 1 or 2 years after announcement, could be very wrong though.
Team Fortress 2. Announced in 1998 IIRC.
Ohhh yeah of course. I remember when it was supposed to be all military style. And then it went through like 4 or 5 revisions.
It was basically exactly like what BF2 ended up being
Am I the only one who feels that this game controls like ass on PC? I've tried the demo a few times because I really want to like it, but the mouse aiming is just so sluggish that it's virtually unplayable. Is there any way I can tweak this to be a bit more snappy like an FPS?
That's what I felt about the 360 demo. No complaints about it on PC.

So for anyone who is looking for a sale on Just Cause 2 target has it on sale for $30. I recommend calling your local store to make sure they have it at that price. The reason I'm putting it in this thread is because the key can be activated over steam. Can't say if this offer is good outside of the US.
I got this a few days ago and I'll say that I haven't had such a fun time with a sandbox game since Crackdown.

I use both the pad and KBAM, and it's great.
Thing is, if I have the pad plugged in and the stick is a liiiitle bit to the side, the mouse get's REALLY sluggish. Try first turning off VSync, and second unplug or move the left analog stick if you have a pad connected.

And WELL WORTH THE WAIT.
The first online FPS I really got into. Well, excluding coop SWAT 4.
Aside from all the stuff you can say about the art-style and gameplay, it's amazing how they made an online FPS that was really accessible even if you were completely new to the game. Some classes are more complex to play, but on the whole each class has obvious roles, and as long as you stick to them, you're helping your team.

No gamepad, but I might have had VSync enabled. I'll have to reinstall the demo and check.
Wait, it's doing what to the series? You do know that the first two were linear shooters, the first one in a mine and there were levels where you fought against alien like things. This is just going back to the series roots.
How's there a stark decrease in emphasis on destructible environments? You got all that from that short trailer that doesn't tell us anything about the game other than it's going to be underground and there's aliens?
I know, I know... But I was so looking forward to it maybe being Ep 3.

I just watched the trailer and they were destroying shit all over the place, so I'm not sure what people are talking about with the sharp decrease in emphasis on destructible environments. Maybe you meant decreased emphasis regarding mission objectives? Like you can still blow shit up all day, but missions won't make you do it? That would make sense.

To be fair, I played it all the way through and at points I could see it start chugging -- not really stuttering, just slowing down for some reason, and it was super annoying. Then I turned off vsync and it was like night and day, it was so much more quick and responsive.
I wish it didn't come enabled by default, it always messes me up when it's on. Sometimes there's really bad tearing, sure, but just make it an option.
If you have the pheromones pod, every normal antlion will be on your side until the end of the game. However, as a fair warning, any queen antlions that you might encounter will be hostile.
Just got past Nova Prospekt. I have thus reached my only real complaint in what is otherwise a gem of a game:
Holy shitballs is it annoying having my little squadmates get in my way. I can't tell you how many times they're clogging doors and hallways which leads to one/most of us getting shot.

I don't really know where the best place to ask this is, but is there any sort of list or database or something of which Steam games are compatible with a gamepad? I'm considering grabbing an XBox 360 controller to play Prince of Persia/Psychonauts/Audiosurf and now I'm curious as to what else I could be doing with it.

The store page for the games should tell you. Most games will have support.
My Logitech came with software to allow you to map your keys to the game pad. Braid, IIRC, does not support a pad out of the box but I mapped it up and it worked wonderfully.

Xpadder or joy2key also do this, though the guy who made xpadder started charging for it.
edit: Also, if a game is branded Games for Windows compatible it automatically has full standard 360 controller support.

I never played Red Faction: Guerrilla, but everytime I hear about it I remember this video that's near and dear to my heart.

That song is amazing. It completely encapsulates that character when I'm playing him.

I always play as a namby-pamby do-gooder, but I still love the song.
The preview for the next Red Faction was pretty sweet, even if it appears to be taking the series in a somewhat radical Doom direction:

Also, good to note that Red Faction II did not exist. Not where I come from.

L4D3 confirmed?

Instead they're gonna just release the full-sized HL3 already.
One can dream.
Then we wait longer, bad plan.

Uh, isn't that just Gabe saying the picture's fake? It's not a denial that the E3 announcement is Episode 3...
The Pipe Vault|Twitter|Steam|Backloggery|3DS:1332-7703-1083
He didn't deny L4D3, however...
Hmmmm...
Seriously, the biggest complaint I have about the L4D games is how few maps there are. They get repetitive pretty fast.
One of the levels I always see people hate on, anything I should know going in?

I'd prefer Half-Life 3 to not be bogged down with the leftovers from the HL2 Episodes storyline.
