So, In light of the whole wii purchase thing. I began to thing about all of the awesome GC titles I missed. Personally, graphics are nice but not to the extent that I can't enjoy GC,N64 and less graphic-intense platforms.
I've put off buying a GC so that when I get a Wii, I wont be replacing a system.. Probably a good idea in theory but it's been killing me.
So, I figured I'd ask which your top 10 lists for GC were. This way, I can score some awesome games, for cheap while more Wii titles are released.
So far, the only ones I've thought of are...
Resident Evil 4
Eternal Darkness
Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
These are three of the titles I've missed so far.. Please save me!
Since I only own eight, you'll have to settle for a top eight from. And I haven't even played some of these yet. I just wanted to make sure I had them when I get around to them (boxing day ftw)
Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour
F-Zero GX
Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
I-Ninja
Soul Calibur 2
Metroid Prime
Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door
Legend of Zelda: Four Sword Adventures
Edit: But there is still two more that I want, so here completes the hypothetical top 10 games.
I'm not sure if I should include Twilight Princess though, so I won't.
This is merely an off the cuff list, so, oh well.
10. Killer7
9. Skies of Arcadia Legends
8. Resident Evil 4
7. Beyond Good & Evil
6. Soulcalibur II
5. Lost Kingdoms II
4. Wind Waker
3. Smash Brothers Melee
2. P.N.03
1. Metroid Prime
It was difficult to knock F-Zero, Ikaruga, Eternal Darkness, Pikmin 1/2, Mario Sunshine, Gladius, Geist, Path of Radiance, Rogue Squadron 2/3, Tales of Symphonia, Paper Mario 2, and Prime 2 off the list.
Pikmin 1/2
Mario Kart: Double Dash
Resident Evil 4
Smash Bros. Melee
Zelda: 4 Swords
Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles (Was able to play 4 player games regularly)
Mario Golf
Viewtiful Joe
P.N.03
Mario Sunshine
I'm sure I'm forgetting a game or two, but thats the first 10 that came to mind out of my collection.
I remember beating Lost Kingdoms, that was a pretty badassed game, all things considered. Is 2 good?
I forgot about Killer7, craptons of people have told me to try it. Defenatly adding to the list.
Fire Emblem? (RPG? I'll have to look more into).
I DEFENATLY know smash bros but I'm thinking of waiting for brawl. Paper mario I should have remembered...
Is Mario Golf good? I'll look more into that one before adding it to the shopping list.
Ok, so my list is shaping up to be the following.
Resident Evil 4
Eternal Darkness
Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
Killer7
Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door
*edit*
Any major fans able to enlighten me briefly about the following? (I say briefly because I'm sure that we could have craptons of posts about each and every game, I just want to make a list of games that I can buy and majorly enjoy).
Viewtiful Joe (wanted to try)
Ikaruga (what is this?)
Tales of Symphonia (good RPG?)
Beyond Good and Evil (I played, loved, forgot)
Fire Emblem (looked cool on the box, never really looked into it)
Well, I'm biased. The Fire Emblem series owns my soul.
Quickly, it's a turn-based strategy RPG with a heavy focus on its characters and plot. So expect an army filled with unique individuals (on your side) and lots and lots of dialogue.
Of course, what I just said would be comparable to someone saying that the Mona Lisa is a painting of some woman who smiles a bit funny.

Viewtiful Joe is a 2.5D (2D game, 3D graphics) beat-em-up platformer with an unsual sense of humour and aesthetics, high-quality balanced puzzles and gameplay, and a thing of general goodness. If you like 2D gaming at all, it's worth a look.
Ikaruga is generally considered one of the best 2D scrolling shooters ever made, if those're your cup of tea.
There's a thread about Beyond Good and Evil on this page that should inform you on that one.
I'm not sure if I should include Twilight Princess though, so I won't.
This is merely an off the cuff list, so, oh well.
10. Killer7
9. Skies of Arcadia Legends
8. Resident Evil 4

Swap Killer 7 with Pikmin 2 and that's practically my list.
10. Eternal Darkness
9. Viewtiful Joe
8. Pikmin
7. Super Smash Brothers Melee
6. Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
5. Beyond Good & Evil
4. Mario Kart: Double Dash
3. Metroid Prime
2. Fire Emblem : Path of Radiance
1. Resident Evil 4
1. The Legend Of Zelda: The Wind Waker
2. Resident Evil 4
3. Pac-man Vs.
4. Killer 7
5. The Legend Of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures
6. Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes
7. Soul Calibur II
8. Super Mario Sunshine
9. Metroid Prime
10. Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem
The only reasons games like Beyond Good & Evil, or Ocarina Of Time/Majora's Mask didn't make the list is because they're not Gamecube exclusive.
EDIT: I know Killer 7 is on the PS2, but that version is so shitty it may as well not be.
Mario Kart: Double Dash
Soulcalibur 2
Super Smash Bros Melee
Tony Hawk's Underground
Alien Hominid
Baten Kaitos
Super Monkey Ball 1
Super Monkey Ball 2
Tales Of Symphonia
Ikaruga
I've never had to write one of these before, so I just looked through my collection and wrote down the ones I've had the most fun with. Most of them were multiplayer fun, I'll admit. Also, Donkey Konga, but that would have made 11.
Your lack of F-Zero GX, Metroid Prime and Wind Waker fails you automatically.
Eh, I can excuse a lack of F-Zero. I have it, but I never play it, because I don't care to play racing games by myself, and my friends would rather play Pac-Man Vs., Soul Calibur II, or Power Stone 2 when they come over.
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicals
Baten Kaitos
Baten Kaitos Origins
Lost Kingdoms
Lost Kingdoms II
Phantasy Star Online Episode I & II

Others would include:
Harvest Moon: Another Wonderful Life
Harvest Moon: Magical Memories
Prince Of Persia I to III
Zelda: The Wind Waker
Soul Caliber II
Any major fans able to enlighten me briefly about the following? (I say briefly because I'm sure that we could have craptons of posts about each and every game, I just want to make a list of games that I can buy and majorly enjoy).
Tales of Symphonia (good RPG?)
Tales of Symphonia is a good RPG. It's responsible for reinvigorating my interest in the JRPG genre. It has more or less the same storyline as every other JRPG (young dude save world), but the gameplay is addictive. The battle system in particular is fantastic. It has a lot of dungeons with some pretty cool puzzles. It does not have random encounters, which goes a long way in preventing the game from feeling tedious towards the end, which is common complaint that I have about JRPGs. The graphics are charming.
Sounds interesting. Is it good? I presume its Squash right?
It's a sequel to Kuru Kuru Kururin.
Basic premise is that you try navigate rotating spaceship thru maze without hitting walls. Good game if you like Kururin games and have zen like patience.
Just listing games that didn't also come out on xbox, just listing games I have played (yet to play prime 2, sunshine, any paper mario)
1) Pikmin 2
2) Wind Waker
3) Metroid Prime
4) Jungle Beat
5) Chibo Robo
6) Pikmin
7) Viewtiful Joe
8) Konga 1/2
9) RE4
10) Baten Kaidos (sp?)
I feel like RE4 should be higher, but I have a hard time getting into that game for some reason. Every little time I have the slightest problem in an area I get frustrated and stop playing for a LONG time before coming back. Still nowhere near finishing it. I just find escorting that girl SUPER annoying, and any time I lose to a boss I have no interest in jumping right back in and fighting then again for some reason. Might just be my aversion to aiming with a control stick. Maybe after my gears of war training I would find it easier. I guess the controls just didn't capture my attention. I like watching the game and I find the events really creative, but I don't really find it fun to play. I should, but it just does not click with me.
Sounds interesting. Is it good? I presume its Squash right?
It's a sequel to Kuru Kuru Kururin.

Ohh. Sounds interesting. Its a port right? I will have to get this. Can NA gamecubes play imports or are they region locked?
My top 10, starting with my favorites of favorites..
Metroid Prime 1
Metroid Prime 2
Resident Evil 4
Smash Bros.
Wind Waker
Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance
Tales of Symphonia
Eternal Darkness
Mario Kart: Double Dash
Pikmin
If you're getting a Wii, get the Wii version of Twilight Princess.
Sounds interesting. Is it good? I presume its Squash right?

Region Locked but you can pick up Freeloaders for dirt cheap I reckon.
Ohh. Sounds interesting. Its a port right? I will have to get this. Can NA gamecubes play imports or are they region locked?
You can buy Freeloader, which is basically bootdisk that allows you to play Japanese and European games on US Gamecube. It's fairly cheap as BigDes said already. But you need additional memory card, as japanese games will format memory card to use charset that they can understand. Game can be bought from Play-Asia for 40 dollars.
While you are at it, you could be interested also about Nintendo Puzzle Collection. Like title says, it is collection of three classic Nintendo puzzle games; Dr. Mario, Yoshi's Cookie and Panel de Pon (known as Tetris Attack in the west). Each game has updated graphics, new gameplay modes, story mode and four player multiplayer. Play-Asia sells it for 30 dollars. I personally think it's quite good bargain, as you also get GBA cable with it.
I will defenatly be buying the wii versions of some games. So Twilight princess, monkeyball (if I get it) and others (if there are any) will all be wii titles.
Just thinking that I've missed out on so much.. But if I don't limit it to 10 games then I'll go broke in a heartbeat..
I'll add Tales of Symphonia to the "to-buy" list. Thanks Eggplant Wizard.
If someone wants to comment a bit more on Baten Kaitos, that would be appreciated.
I really like RPGS, but with the WoW expansion and Twilight princess, I'm not sure it's a good idea to get mostly RPG games... As much as I might like to lol. (Yes I realize that TP isnt really an RPG, just a time eating game lol)
Many people say Meteroid, which was fun back when I played it, but I'm not so interested in it again. Have it on my DS and rarely play (I know, bad me).
Lots of people loved Smash Bros - but not me. If you don't have a buddy who loves fighting games this is not a good purchase.
Resident Evil 4 is awesome. If you've played any of the other Resident Evil games, forget them - this is much more of an action game; it's basically a third person shooter with light puzzle solving. Probably the best game on the Cube.
The Legend of Zelda - the Wind Waker. I personally liked the look of this more than Twlight Princess; it plays a lot like the other 3D Zeldas except there is a lot of sailing which can sometimes get dull.
Super Mario Sunshine - a 3D platformer; has some flaws but I still enjoyed it a lot.
Metroid Prime / Prime 2 - They are first person games, and you do a lot of shooting, but they aren't really first-person shooters. The emphasis is much more on exploration; the only time the combat gets difficult is at the bosses. Probably my second favorite game(s) on the cube.
If you haven't played it on another console, Tony Hawk 3 is great - the others are good too, but 3 is my favorite.
Super Monkey Ball - you guide a monkey. In a ball. You have to guide him through the goal by tilting the entire world. Very skill-based; easy at first almost impossible near the end. Great fun. I didn't like the second one as much.
P.N.03 is game that you tend to either love or hate. It's 3rd perspective shooter, where you control Vanessa Z. Schneider, secret agent that tries to get destroy killer robots that have taken over mining colony. Because Vanessa is very fragile and can't take many hits, you need to memorize robot's (often complex) attack patterns, and dodge its attacks until your target leaves itself wide open for attacks.
Really, really hard game, but rewarding if you are willing to put lots of time to it. Level design is pretty poor, but if you are seeking for true "hardcore" experience, P.N. 03 is your choice. Plus it's cheap these days. New copies go around 15 dollars.
