This image looks like something that would be linked from Lostpedia:
i see promoters, transcription start sites, and exons. not to mention fluorescent proteins, plasmids, and what appears to appears to be a genetic logic gate
These clocks are now good enough to observe relativistic effects on a human scale: they see time dilation from motion of the ion at speeds of 10m/s or less, and the gravitational redshift caused by raising one of the two clocks a foot above the other...
The ions are held in small traps using radio-frequency fields to confine them, and the motion of the ions is very precisely controlled.
Obviously this doesn't really prove anything we don't already know, but they are holding atoms in a fucking force field and measuring the spacing of their energy levels to an accuracy of one part in 10^17.

i had a dream that i was in this library where you could take out legos for a certain amount of days
i went through the library's comic hardcovers and discovered arcs of The Spirit written by John Hamm
thought that'd be a fucking terrible idea. later, came across some softback books detailing the construction of bombs as assembled by famous figures in film
it comes time to leave the library, i go ahead and check out the slave one. looking through the pile of blocks for the arm, though.

we are living in the future we all imagined as kids
it's got no flying cars
but those are a bad idea anyways
but stuff like this!
That's pretty fucking cool.
Also, bacterial computing + nanomachines = grey goo flu?
He told me "I thought I'd be fucking dead". Thanks dad.
Be afraid, red haired people.
