Downtown Toronto restaurant recommendations

My girlfriend and I will be spending the weekend after next one in Toronto. We're looking for recommendations for a restaurant to go to Friday night.

We'll be in the area of the Eaton Centre and the CN Tower. We want something with a nice atmosphere, good service and good food. We're not too worried about price, but we don't want to break the bank either. For example, the 360 restaurant in the CN Tower seems a bit too pricey. We're open to any type of food (Asian, Italian, bar and grill, etc.).

If you know of any such neat places, please let me know. Thanks!

Coco Lezzone - on College - west of Bathurst is pretty nice.

Harlem on Jarvis is pretty good too -

King st W has some decent stuff as well if you two decide to just walk to see what you like.

My sister took us to this joint once: http://utopiacafe.ca/index.html

We sat in the back and I remember thinking it's the kind of place I would take a date too. Food was great (except for the salad that was just a bunch of weeds - should have replaced it with fries but wasn't paying attention), prices are very reasonable and the atmosphere is hipstery without being douchey.

Are you vegetarian? Well, do you like awesome ass fucking sandwiches? Go to Kensington Market and check out Urban Herbivore. I guarantee you've never had a sandwich like it. the're fucking fantastic.

if you're in to beer then Bar Volo is the best beer bar in the province. C'est What is also suppose to be great.

Thanks for all the recommendations, folks! Some of those seem to double as good places to have lunch, so that's even better.

We're not vegetarian, but that Urban Herbivores place intrigues me. We'll definitely check it out.

Seconding Bar Volo. The food is a bit more expensive, but the staff are great and the beer is both a bit cheaper than you'd expect as well as amazing. C'est What is also a cool place. Those are both good suggestions.

For a new one, I had amazing service and food at Bar Italia on College St. http://www.bar-italia.ca/

If you find your way to it for breakfast, the Daybreak Cafe is maybe the best damn thing. Cheap, fun staff, awesome food. It's on the SE corner of Church and Carleton.

Are you guys going to go up the CN Tower? When I was there a few years ago, we had our observation deck tickets refunded for eating at 360, turning my $33 entree into a $10 meal. All we had to do was show them the receipt at the front desk after paying for both, and they refunded the price of the tickets. The food was great, and the views are phenomenal, so if you're planning on checking out the tower anyway, it's worth it.
