Actually, it doesn't - the framework of GR is Resistance = good, loyalists = evil - with shades of gray in between.
The Heroes of Primal Earth are always the right/good side, and they're helping bring down Tyrant.

Talk about the most boring way you could possibly look at Going Rogue's content.

Someone guide me through how I should use the serial key from the boxed GR with a invite back key from someone here.

I put in the invite back key and it's asking me to pay; but I don't want to pay because I have this free month.

But I think if I put in the GR serial into my account it won't let me do the invite back code.

can you tell it you're using a game time code as your payment option?

No, if you put the code in there it says it isn't allowed to be used as that kind of code.

Only semi-related; is the NCSoft store broked? It keeps declining my card for no apparent reason even though I just used it on their site for CoX and there's plenty of money on it.

it's a bug, but instead of penalizing people and risk the customer service boondoggle of taking away someone's earned rewards by fixing the bug

they just let it go. the bug's fixed now, but those who got free months towards their vet rewards get to keep them

basically, both the Loyalists and the Resistance have sorta good/evil sub-factions

There's a chain of contacts for the Loyalists that are like "Fuck yeah! Power and authority! Lick my boot, plebeian!"

and another that's like "I believe in Emperor Cole and I want to protect the people" (I am currently playing a dude like this)

For the Resistance, there's the Wardens (who want to free the people, but balk at outright terrorism tactics) and the Crusaders (who are anarchists and willing to do anything, including blowing up hospitals and shit)

    so uh

    yeah

being loyalist or resistance doesn't actually say whether you are good or evil or not

shit, on the arc i am on right now, i took out a corrupt PPD guy and it gave me the dialogue box whether to turn him in or just kill him.

    so

the CoH forum remains retarded about everything

MMO forums are always retarded. Well offical game forums in general, for the simple reason that people think the devs are more likely to read their posts and do their bidding or something. Which is dumb because they hire community managers to do that, and they have no power whatsoever.

The person arguing that Loyalists are good/Resistance are evil are using the fact that heroes fight Tyrant "and heroes are always good in comic books" as her backbone argument.

The most infuriating variation of this argument I ever saw involved three of the CoX official forums' most amazingly annoying posters: Venture, EvilGeko, and Golden Girl. Venture was the most reasonable of them, at least. EvilGeko called our entire planet evil for not proactively fighting evil everywhere. I'm not even kidding, he leapt into some real world crap with it.

Golden Girl was the most infuriating, though. Mostly as the vast majority of her replies (and there were over 200 of them) were extremely short and generally consisted of these six words (plus anything else necessary to form a readable sentence) linked together accusingly: Nazi, Stalin, Hitler, fascist, tyranny, freedom. Followed by a wink or raspberry emoticon. I can't get angry at somebody who has never read, or even read about, a comic since like the 50's after the bullshit that went down in that thread.

EDIT: Oh god, and her justification for why the Wardens were the real heroes, shiny and pure and not responsible for anything the Crusaders were involved with at all.

you know i was playing a really well-meaning heroic loyalist dude and i
decided to kill Cleopatra anyway. she might not be a hospital-bombing Crusader, but she still tried to snuff out a good guy like me just to cover her own ass. she could've bugged out and hid instead of trying to maintain her cover, but bitch decided my life wasn't more important than her cover.

Oops! No, I didn't mean Venture was the most reasonable person on that board. I meant out of the three I listed. He at least pretended to listen and had a reasonable, not-inflammatory thing or two to say in the thread I was referring to. Don't worry, I've hated 99% of everything I've seen from Venture. His little foot stamping escapade in the Market Merger thread, for example. God, that was hilarious.

Yeah, that's pretty much what her and EvilGeko were both saying in the earlier thread. Civilians are fine targets if you're fighting EVIL! If they aren't actively resisting EVIL! then they are EVIL! themselves. It's definitely the same mentality as the Crusader side of the Resistance, though.

Power Loyalist is a load of fun, too. It's not really out and out evil jackbootery, it's more you're a "hero of the people" on the surface and a media-conscious, "mostly (or entirely) interested in your own personal power and influence" type on the inside. You do rescue people and perform "good deeds", and usually have the media contacted to take a look at what amazing things you've done. Some of them may or may not have been manufactured by you, also.

gotta be level 20 and do a mission to unlock capes

some players have special things (like a veteran reward that grants shoulder-capes) that they can use at level 1

but for everyone else, gotta be 20+ and do a mission to earn it

wtf my veterans reward list just told me I am at 36 months even though i only have 11 total paid on my account.

    THE SKINNY.

There was a bug with the veteran rewards system whereupon several people (myself included) were not getting the rewards they were actually due. So at 30 months, people would still be waiting on the 27 month reward, etc. To fix this, without paying someone to go through the entire subscriber database and fix it by hand, they did a big sweep of some kind. The end result is some people got rewards they hadn't actually gotten to, but rather than deal with the headache that revoking those would cause, they just let everyone keep them.

The big stinky caveat is that you won't get any new rewards until you actually deserve them. So you're looking at 28 months of playtime before you get another veteran reward.

And yes, there were people on the official forums who felt this was a slap in the face and said so. I remember for a little while where Bab's signature on the official boards was "I will be at HeroCon if you're interested in finding out what a real slap in the face feels like." God I love that man. He deserves so much better than the fanbase he's been given.
