The New, Mighty and Secretly Dark Avenging (and Defending) Thread!
There's a whole mess of book with the word "Avenger" on them at the moment, and this is the thread to talk about em. You got...
THE AVENGERS:
NEW AVENGERS:
SECRET AVENGERS:
And don't forget about the kids...
AVENGERS ACADEMY:
YOUNG AVENGERS:
and joining them
THE DEFENDERS:
Just picked up and finished "Avengers: Prime" and was shocked that it didn't suck. It's already started to delve into tony and steve animosity, plus there a few cool little bits like this...
Just looks peeved. Not enraged, just kind of "Uh man, really?". I think old-Cap is gonna be a pretty sweet Nick Fury, he's got some pretty bad ass moments to love up to as well, ala 'Nick Fury: The List'.

He did a really good `It's just chemicals, Buck' in New Avengers a few issues ago. Like he's patiently waiting out the little dramas that crop up rather than getting deeply involved.
His White Star uniform is indeed very cool, and it actually works without the shield, but an un-marked black uniformed worn by an aryan ubermensch gives a certain feel doesn't it.
Comic book girls are flat chested if they can see their own feet.
Anyway, Norman Osborn must have developed the ability to cotnrol people's minds because whenever I can see him pretending to be the good guy it's so transparant it's not even funny. "I'm norman Osborn, would you like to be a Hero? I can make you be a Hero, because I can get what I want..."

"You have such a cute smile"
"Why thankyou, and you have a womb just ripe for a Goblin baby"

"What?"
"Nothing...you don't know Peter Parker do you?"
That's what I mean! Those evil little smiles, the veiled references towards having untimate power at his disposal, the oily way of speaking, it should all make alawm bells go off in anyone's head.
You have to think that some of these things are exaggerated for... shall we say less intelligent readers. Where as most people pickup on the subtext of any conversation, they literally have to draw out the evil for some readers. This might just be delving too far but, like when Loki is portrayed doing some trickery and we're all like 'Oh man, don't fall for it! It's so obvious' I think the character in context doesn't see this, but as a reader we must.

Loki is the worst for this. In JMS' Thor when he was going around saying "Yes, if I was still all tricksy then I would have done this, but I'm not anymore so it clearly wasn't me..." And Baldur's all like "Oh, OK then," and the they find out that yeah, Loki did in fact pull that shit and are suprised.
Also, that shit about "I did this because I am the trickster God and must trick!" doesn't fly with me. Thor's the God of Thunder but he doesn't zap Asgard with lightning bolts uncontrollably all the time, he zaps giants and shit. Loki says that he organises the siege of Asgard because he needed something to do, well, why the hell couldn't he have used his mischief to actually benefit his people instead? I'll tell you why, because in actual fact he went after Asgard because he is the silliest of silly geese.
The Loki mini-series actually kind of addressed that. Basically, Loki's forever locked into this pattern of setting up mischief, and then failing. When he finally tries to repent and defy fate, Thor cracks his head open with Mjolnir.
T-Bolts are back to being a redemption based team, the Secret Warriors are involved in fighting all the various terrorists such as Leviathan, and the Secret Warriors can do everything else which needs a deft touch. Seriously there is enough space for a few espionage teams out there, no problems.

PS. Steve is secretly John Locke.
Ah crap, you just ruined it... That said, i have already grown to like his white star SA uniform.
I think it has a old-school The Prisoner vibe to it.
Love the scan though. That facial expression in the third panel is priceless.
Let's Play Final Fantasy 'II' (Ch10 - 5/17/10)
And Norman Osborn took a personal interest in her? He has umpteen people on his payroll who can do what she can and more and better.

When you're wearing full length nerd outfits like that and talking about turning into gases and being naked, I dont know what else she expected.

Not that I'm complaining, I love Black Ops superheroes, it's just a little weird.
