Ms Marvel's ongoing was great up until that retarded death/return arc. There was no reason to kill and revive her, and it had no effect on any other book. The half of the book that featured Karla was great, don't get me wrong. But after that arc, it just went to complete crap. Dating Spider-Man? Investigating a Captain Marvel cult? Meanwhile, the art looked like it was drawn with a dick dipped in oil paint and put through the washing machine before it was printed? No wonder it died.

What the hell with the rotating teams all the time everywhere in every book by the big 2?

Acuna is too good of an artist to keep moving around like this.

See, I want to care about Black Widow, but I really just can't. I cannot get behind that character as a protagonist, and it sucks because my shelf is sadly devoid of female-centric ongoings apart from one She-Hulk trade which isn't going to get expanded on because a) crap art and b) not that well written.

Its hard to care because there are dozens of her, a peak level athlete with attitude and expert marksmanship. Thats practically a pre-requisite for existing in the MU.

For once, I'd like to see a comic book character female who was flat-chested. And wasn't underaged. I mean, c'mon. They at least have comic book men with beer bellies on occassion.

Kitty Pryde and Jubilee from the X-men have been discussed as having realistic sized busts. Though depending on the artist that may not always be accurate.

No she doesn't. She is pretty much irrelevant. Her purpose in the world is to stup Bucky from losing his shit because he's been mind-fucked for the best part of half a century.

Basically if Black Widow was killed off I doubt many people would really care or notice because she is just a woman in a black outfit. Theres nothing remarkable about her character.

Marvel could really do with backing it up, I can't remember the last time I saw She-Hulk even in Hulk, Karla is interesting but I doubt any female reader would see her as a role model, Ms Marvel is ok when she has a decent storyline but all Ive seen ofher lately is to be used as a big hammer, taking out powerful beings.

Jessica Jones has something interesting going on, debating about being a mother and a hero but she;s so far in the background it doesn't matter and outside of her own mini-series I can't remember SPider-Woman doing much relevant in new Avengers.

Are there any really prominent, interesting and powerful women in the MU at the moment?

EDIT: Though to be fair, at the moment Cho and Hercules are the only non-dick forefront male heroes in the MU. And Hercules is dead.

Spider-Man doesn't have any important female enemies does he? Aunt MAy not withstanding. Theres Sue Storm as a notable female but she seems to be written like a battered housewife.

Hand is pretty cool but she was cool as Osborns right hand.

Hill, all I can think of now is hard as nails and then banging Iron Man. Carter, meh, shes just Caps girlfriend.

But Hand and Frost sure, Hand has potential at least but her ruthlessness is what made her fun I think, it remains to be seen if she can remain as such with more restrictions in place.

    Go read Heralds.

And while Black Widow may have a pretty standard set of powers and abilities, that hardly means she isn't a good or interesting character. She's one of the Marvel Universe's few straight up espionage/spy characters, she has a rich history going back several fictional decades, due to her increased longevity, and over the years she's developed interesting relationships with characters you wouldn't expect, like Wolverine or Hercules.

I'll be brutally honest here, The only female characters I really care about are in the Cosmic side of things. Gamora and Mantis mostly. I cannot think of a single mainstream female Marvel hero whose death would bother me in the slightest. Even Scarlet Witch, She-Hulk and Ms Marvel, arguably my favourite women characters, would be sacrificed in an instant if it meant saving a whole shit-load of guy heroes.

    Luckily I don't think that's ever a situation that'll come up.

Honestly, Marvel's got a ton of cool women heroes. She-Hulk's first series by Slott was fantastic, especially when Bobillo was doing the art, but admittedly fell apart a little when it was brought back. Heralds is off to a great start, and further fleshing out characters like Monica Rambeau, Hellcat, and Valkyrie. Emma Frost? Great character. Marvel Divas? Great book, sunk by a crappy marketing campaign and a terrible J. Scott Campbell cover. Firestar? Black Cat? Awesome. Tabby Smith and Elsa Bloodstone? Awesome, and their short story in Girl Comics was a high point of issue #2.

A lot of them have been underutilized in the past, but I think Marvel's done really well in bringing some of their best characters to the forefront, and showing why they matter. It's just that a lot of people aren't buying the books, because why read a book about She-Hulk, Hellcat, Monica Rambeau, Agent Brand, and Valkyrie celebrating Emma Frost's birthday, by beating up a bunch of SWORD-manufactured clones of famous scientists?

    Because it's awesome that's why.

Why are those characters celebrating Emma's birthday? The only one who would be closest to Emma would be Brand, and even then not so much. Shouldn't she be in Paris shopping with Cyclops saying darling all the time?

    The BAD Girls
    Satana
    Jennifer Kale

I don't care about any of those people. Maybe Misty Knight because she's carrying my boy Danny's kid.

Actually, it's pretty cool that if they wanted to now they could almost do a future Avengers story without having to invent the offspring of current supers. It would have Danielle Cage, somebody Rand, Franklin and Valeria Richards and probably others that I can't think of.

I want to see a Power Pack vs Runaways one-shot.

I also want them to come out with an ongoing Power Pack. Power Pack was my favorite title growing up. It was surpisingly gritty at times considering its target audience. Which made it all the cooler of course.

That's the one thing that bugged me. But the way I chose to read it is that Brand, who put the whole thing together, gathered those women because they don't know Emma. Because really, Emma's a jerk. Who'd want to hang out with her except those barely acquainted with her?

And I actually dig She-Hulk's short hair.

It reminded me a bit of Clément Oubrerie's work, who illustrated the indie series Aya, which I enjoyed. So I didn't hate it, but it did look rushed. It's unfortunate too, because when you look at the artist's DeviantArt, you can see how good he can be. It's almost Paul Pope-esque.

In Heralds, it looked like he didn't even have the work inked.
