Hey, didn't Rare make Jet Force Gemini? They should really make another one.

Yeah, because the company is so worthless and performed so badly that Microsoft decided they'd punish them by expanding them to a second location and creating around 120 new jobs... Clearly, Rare is doing something right, especially as Microsoft have spent the last two years closing down perfectly solid studios, from FASA to Ensemble.

That's because they're pretty much the only first party Microsoft hasn't jettisoned yet besides Lionhead. Also they're guessing their skillset will translate well to Natal, which isn't a bad idea.

Edit: And Tubular, if we're talking about toward the end of PDZ's development, then I had heard that reports of massive staff departures during that time were greatly exaggerated.

No, it was more towards the end of the original PD's development. At least from what I've heard, that's when a bunch of staff left to go form Free Radical, and some company that I don't think ever actually released anything.

Right, I remember that. Those departures were a decent chunk but weren't anywhere close to being a majority of the staff, or even half.

It's true that is wasn't necessarily a large number of their staff, but the ones who did leave were easily some of their best people.

Isn't this what gave us Timesplitters? The Goldeneye/PD team mostly splitting?

Regarding Viva Pinata, I have it on my "to do" list.

Yeah, we only mentioned that fact like a bazillion times already!!!:P And yes, they do need to make a sequel some time. With more Tribals to shoo- er, rescue.

So, I bought Banjo Kazooie Nuts & Bolts a few months ago for around 15 dollars and just got around to trying it a few weeks ago. HOLY SHIT. Why is ANYONE complaining about this game? This game is fucking amazing. Like, I cannot stop playing, I am obsessed with customizing my vehicles, I love the mission set up, and there's still platforming and exploration if you want it! I never feel lost or aimless like I did in Banjo-Tooie, and it's fucking beautiful.

Like seriously. I feel like anyone who thinks this isn't the direction this franchise should be going is just plain wrong. Rare are fucking G's this generation. Viva Pinata was great, and Nuts and Bolts is great. I want the franchise to continue with the fucking vehicles if they make another one. FOR SURE.

I almost never pre-order games but Nuts & Bolts 2 would be an instant preorder if announced.

Yeah I really enjoyed N&B too, really fun, you can mess about for ages with the vehicles, and it sure is pretty. Ace music too. There is some DLC I think, never got around to playing it (yet!)

LOG's Lost Levels, a bunch of advanced challenges that were supposedly cut out due to development time. They're all standalone (as in they won't net you any Jiggies or Trophies towards your actual game progress) and just for fun. Clearing them all twice gets you the best reward of all, though: HERO KLUNGO SSSAVES TEH UNIVERSE!!!!

I got halfway through the game but then got sidetracked by my brother moving his 360 up to his room.

Some of the challenges were actually pretty interesting to figure out. I had a hard time with the third Gruntilda challenge, until I figured out an elegant way to hit the parts that needed to be hit.

I'm kind of disappointed that my immediately previous idea of building a square platform above my vehicle, covering it with spikes, connecting it to the base with a pair of detachers in front and back, and putting springs below the platform to launch it up after it detached didn't work. At least it was awesome to use.

Rare can just put out some real games with there new logo. BTW: Rare needs to put out a up-to date Killer Instinct like how Capcom did with SFII turbo HD remix.

Cloud is probably right though, Nintendo must have seen the sinking ship, and saw a sucker in MS to take Nintendo's stake in Rare before the boat truly sank.

At least MS is making due by relegating them to Avatar/casualz duty.

It's amazing how many games they had a part in during the 8-bit days. It wasn't until the early 2000s that I realized that one of my favorite games of all time, Snake Rattle 'n Roll, was developed by Rare.

C'mon, think about it: screwy vibe, gut-punching difficulty, that kind of "one more try" addictiveness? That's classic Rare all over. Too bad they've been put to work doing Wii Sports knockoffs and goodness knows what else for the Kinect, despite assumptions that the whole thing's gonna be a mess.

    Oh boy

It's the new name for Natal

Natal is the motion-control thing for Xbox 360

There's a game that looks pretty neat for it, but it's made by Harmonix and not Rare

Wow. This looks stupid. I also ended up looking up the Playstation move. So basically Sony and Microsoft are launching units to make their consoles more Wii-like, but more expensive, and the Wii is just sitting there bein' like, "I'm cheap as fuuuuuuck. What's up bitches?" Go nintendo again.

It wouldn't be so bad if both sides took the time to actually make interesting games for them instead of cloning existing Wii stuff. Oh, and Rare's contribution? The Wii Sports clone.

Going to ask this here because the Nuts'n'Bolts thread is 2 years old so I'll just get jeered at for reviving it and then promptly ignored.

Anyone got tips on te following two missions:

Bug Zapper - Bring the code bugs (2-d sprites) in the logbox 720 to the bug zapper. Zap 10 to finish.
I can't get the trophy for the life of me because things don't work as well as I need them to due to the flatness of the sprites. So far I've tried vaccuming them into a built cage (they bounce around and clip through it), sticky ball (ball is slow and hard to drag through the zapper without losing sprites) and the blow/suck fan (sprites fall over and slide under my vehicle).

Protect the hardware - Grunt bots are attacking the graphics card, sound card and some other card in the logbox. Kill them all before too much damage is done
Obviously you need something that flies and can kill bots but I can't ever make the times for the trophies. There are a lot of grunt bots at each chip and flying around, aiming at them is painful and slow.

If I remember right, there's also the option of seeing the replays of the top 100 gamer list on each challenge. And in most cases, you even have the option of downloading the machine they used. But even if you can't, just seeing a video on how the fastest player did it is usually enough to give you an idea on how to go, especially given that most of the top times use such out of the box thinking to get their scores.

Seconding this. Seeing that sort of out of the box thinking for even the challenges where you're given a specific vehicle is so incredibly helpful.
