I'm running into a problem of things being too easy. I'm level 22, I made my guy a gunslinger and I just wreck pretty much everything I come across. I was having some difficulty, but now my energy weapons stat is pretty high, and wearing the Tesla armor puts at 100. Combine that with a plasma rifle, and my newest perk of concentrated fire. I either shoot the head off it or turn into a green puddle.
Yeah, the game starts getting like that after 20ish or so. The only real solution is to up the global damage multiplier, so while you're still one- or two-shotting enemies, they can do more to you as well.

Oh god, I just realized that with FWE's fast-travel system, I have to find a way back out to the wasteland from downtown DC, since I can't simply fast-travel back to the GNR building after I restored the signal. I have no idea how I'm going to do this.
Edit: Whew, nevermind. Puzzled out which metro lines to take to get back to Chevy Chase from the Mall.

Is there a really good mod that adds a bunch of different weapons? It's kinda boring how once you get the repeater from the museum, or the assault rifle from the diner, you don't have any reason to use anything else.
FOOK or FWE (or both at once via an interopability patch) are your best bets, if you can get past how pristine and spotless all the FOOK-added weapons are.
But then again, those do a good bit more than just add weapons.

I just started playing my bad guy play through. My first act, out of the Vault, was to hit Megaton.
My second act was to provoke Simms into a fight and shoot his face off. I am now robbing the town for all its worth, getting the information I can, and I'll recruit Jericho before blasting it to Hell. I am going to enjoy this.
That said, playing this side by side with Oblivion is pretty damned startling. Just how much better F3 is in every department becomes really apparent. From the UI to how smooth things feel, and even the simple act of walking feels better.
New Vegas cannot possibly come soon enough. It does sadden my heart that there might not be Yao Guai in NV (being descended from DC area bears and all). I rest assured, though, that radscorps and deathclaws will be there, what with them being F1/2 enemies.
And in line with what I'd like to see, I hope there'll be some sort of intimidation factor or something. Something that makes low level raiders piss off in fear or does something like this for real bastard players. Got cannibalism and a horrible rep? Sit down for dinner at your local Evergreen Mills!
I think I'm gonna play a little bit of Fallout 3 again. Any mods you guys recommend for a replay?
Mart's Mutant Mod turns the wasteland into something dangerous. A lot more enemies, none of which like each other. It feels like you're in the middle of a war sometimes instead of being hunted by a single tiny radscorpion.

MMM is good, but all the modular stuff that you can turn on or off are the cooler bits, while the much dumber stuff like the t-rex-armed red mutants are forced on you whether you think they're hella stupid or not.

So, considering this is the Fallout: New Vegas thread, is there any new info up on the game?
I do find it kind of amusing that they are impressed with the hip screen of NV, when you can do that in FO3. All you have to do is scroll up the camera. I've done it a few times when I play third person.
Is there a way to get Fallout 1+2 to work on Windows 7? Last time I tried, it went all weird. Rainbow colours everywhere.

So I bought this in the sale and I'm playing it now. I had it for 360 before, but I never really got that deep into it. Looking forward to sinking my teeth in now that I have it again, I missed the open exploration. Good times

Those must be new. Haven't looked at MMM in a while.
I see they are still in Release Candidate..... sigh. That's... not... what... that means. Maybe he just thinks RC sounds cooler then beta or version 5.

Yeah, if anyone can help me figure that out as well... I've found some 'HD Mods' for Fallout 1 and 2 that intend to fix that problem but they aren't working for me.

I third this. Have you guys bothered going in-game? When I do, everything looks "fine". A couple rainbow bits around the HUD, but nothing big.
Its the movies and menu that are in rainbow-vision.

I don't think so. I personally love being at-the-hip or very far out when in third person. Screen always seems focused on shoulder-level. That is to say, that the camera is always centered/leveled at where your shoulders are on the screen, or just about.
I hope that TP camera isn't fixed, but I don't expect it is, probably just better positioned. I like scrolling about, because sometimes you need a wider vision/tighter vision and just don't want to go FP.
Here's a little story I'd like to share about why it's sometimes awesome to skip fast-travel in Fallout 3 and just walk through the awesome world. I can't remember if I posted this before or not in another Fallout thread, so apologies in advance if you guys have heard this one before.
Spoilered for minor mainline plot reveal:
This happened during my first playthrough of the game, when I was still having a blast exploring the world and just seeing random things happen. After finding and freeing dad in Tranquility Lane, he says we need to meet up in Rivet City, and proceeds to make his way out of the Vault. I decide to follow him, half to see if he really makes the run there or just disappears and appears in Rivet City when I get there, and half just to see what would happen if I tried to follow.
So here we are, father and son, spending some quality time together jogging through the Capitol Wasteland. Awesome. We're nearly there, a few more minutes of running and we'll have made it to Rivet City.
Out of nowhere, I start hearing gun fire, and dad draws a pistol and starts shooting at a group of raiders as he's cresting a hillside, walking steadily towards them as he fires off round after round. I don't even know where he got the damn pistol from, but dad's packing. Coming up over the hill I see a group of six bandits spread out along a stretch of road with a guard rail and a car for cover. They're shooting at dad and I'm like "oh hell no, I just saved this guy".
So I go into vats and drop two guys with a few shots from the assualt rifle, and try to find a little bit of cover as the raiders notice me killing their guys. All the while dad is running around like a fucking madman not doing a damn thing with that .32 pistol of his except looking scary, when all of a sudden he runs out of ammo and they kill him. He just drops, the pistol sliding out of his hand across the pavement.
Now I'm cursing and scrambling to avoid four raiders concentrating fire on me, waiting for my AP to fill back up so I can peek out of cover and kill these guys in VATs. I peek over the hill I'm hiding behind to fire off a couple shots when I see the damndest thing.
Dad. The motherfucker is standing up, and he's got a GODDAMN COMBAT KNIFE. He gets to his feet and bolts after the nearest raider, a female with a shaved head, and just starts slashing at her like a fucking psychopath as she starts running away.
Remembering that I'm still being shot at, I check my AP, drop the last two guys, and turn to watch as zombie dad slashes the gun out of this girl's hand. Afraid to fire off a shot for fear of hitting him, I have to watch as it happens. I HAD TO WATCH.
She goes off, fucking screaming, running away as hard as she can as dad slashes her again and again and again until finally she gives in, scared and crouched, trapped in a corner with her arms over her head to offer some sort of protection to herself as this madman slashes and stabs and gouges the life out of her, screaming "AHHHH! LEAVE ME ALONE!"
But no, the good doctor was not hearing her cries for mercy. He slaughtered her there on that abandoned road, put his knife away, said nothing to me, and ran on.
From that point forward I learned to fear two things. Anything that comes back from the dead after being shot multiple times, and Liam motherfucking Neeson.

I can't believe I only just now discovered that you can grab things that people own and not be penalized. Unless I'm mistaken I don't think that's how it worked in Oblivion. This has come in handy for when I spot Cram or Blamco or something on someone's shelf. I can just drag it out of view and then steal it hidden.
The reason such is currently important to me is because I am playing as a good karma dude, with only one weakness. He has a hoarding complex about boxed foods. I don't know why. Maybe his grandparents' families starved to death in soviet Russia. He can't help it! The compulsion just takes over!

Picking stuff up with Z in Oblivion would get you a bounty for the value of the item just as quickly as stuffing it into your inventory would. I know because I tried to be sneaky like that early on.

Thats weird, pretty sure I do this regularly to rob the shops in the market district
I really wish I knew what the hell it was about going into the wasteland from Rivet City that keeps causing the autosave on travel to crash the game. It was doing this even unmodded (aside from DLC), so every time I think I may be going near Rivet City for any length of time, I have to turn off auto-save.
Edit: Apparently saving the game at all around Rivet City when it has fits like this will cause me to crash. This is stupid.

Does it happen every time, or only after you've been playing the game for a while. I mean if you loaded up the game fresh and did this right away would it still happen?
Fallout 3 gets very unstable after about 30minutes to an hour of play time, and only gets worse from there.
You only have the DLC and no mods, but are they in the proper order? Do they Load Fallout 3>Anchorage>The Pit>Broken Steel>Point Lookout>Mothership Zeta
It doesn't happen every time, and it doesn't appear after playing for a length of time, since it just now happened after starting up FO3 for the first time today.
It should be noted that I'm heavily modded now, but when I first got the game back in December I wasn't playing modded and it'd still do it.
