(Resolved)How do I move my saves from an old 360 HDD to a new one?

Lets just say that my first xbox was banhammered in the Great 2009 Xbox 360 Banhammering.

I got a new one yesterday (no dirty tricks anymore), the FF13 bundle with the 250gb hard drive. It'd be convenient if I could get my saves off the old 20gb drive though. I'm not sure how to go about that. I already re-downloaded all the XBLA games I bought, which was actually the main reason I bought a new box in the first place.

Bonus inquiry:
Since my box was banhammered last year I haven't kept up with what's cool on XBLA. What have I missed out on in the last year?

360 recognize usb thumbdrives up to 16gigs nowadays (and you can move stuff like it was a memory card).

Make sure you transfer your licenses to your new xbox so you can play all your arcade games and such offline. here is how to do it: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support/systemuse/xbox360/licensemigration/ It can only be done once a year though. Usb drive is your best choice for transferring saves if you don't have a memory card or a transfer cable.

    Oh I wonder...

My old box has the NXE but not the newest updates. Is that gonna be a problem?

(Getting both hooked up right now)

Wow the old box just red ringed (3 lights). This has never happened before.

So I put the old drive on the new box and now my profile is corrupted :(

How do I move the save games? Are they linked to the corrupted profile or can I get to them some other way?

Try signing in with a different profile and copying them to a usb drive. I know on some of the stuff that wasn't under my GT would say that if I copied or moved it it would be transfered to my GT. I think you may be able to use this process to switch save games over to another GT.

Edit: you could also try to recover your corrupted profile on your new HDD.

I'm recovering now. It won't let me move saves between profiles, and I've found a short guide that says if you recover your tag you can get your saves back. Here's hoping it's true.

Assuming the recovery works you should be able to access your saves no problem.

Ok I got it all taken care of.

One last thing, can I purge my profile of games I don't own?

There are two places you can remove stuff. If you want to clear HDD space, then you need to go the System tab, and then I think its Memory. From there you can purge things you don't care to retain.

The other place games can be removed is from the Achievements/Gamerscore list associated with your Live profile. You can only remove 0 GS games, or games in which you have obtained no achievements. I believe you do this from the Achievements list on the 360.
