What kind of place are they running down there?! Is this suppose to be a place of business or a fancy treehouse?!

They followed OSHA regulations. He didn't violate travel mediums at speed. Rule one of 'Office Chair supplementary uses as racecar' is to never travel over varied floorings.

I completely forgot that they put those new podcasts out.

The first came out while I was in the depths of writing like 3 assignments and I had to force myself not to listen then I forgot.

I wish that game my friend was putting together had gone ahead.

I miss D&D. Played a couple online games which were fun but they weren't the same as being in the same room with the other people.

A friend of mine from High School still has my books and character sheet, which he managed to get signed by Gary Gygax. I really should try to get those back.

You can always try Skype, or that thing Gabe/Mike's did with email campaigns when his crew didn't have time to get together.

Of course, for someone who had no interest in D and D, he has graduated to some crazy ass level of DMing.

edit: Also, totally looking for newbie friendly people to play D and D with in the NYC area. Come on, forumers! I know you exist!

The update schedule for the podcast is driving me a little bit crazy. Two in a row followed by a lull is apparently the exact pattern needed to make me check the RSS feed every fifteen minutes for days on end.

Do you know anyone who might consider starting to play with you? I had played a little before, but the DM helped me a lot (maybe too much) so I wasn't very familiar with the rules. I recently bought a bunch of books and I'm now I'm starting a campaign with four people who have never played before, and one guy who's pretty much had the same experience as me.

It can help to have someone familiar with DnD around, but you really don't need it to have fun. It takes a little extra work for the DM when they don't know the rules well, but it's totally doable.

D&D Encounters is a good way for people to check out the game. There's a brand new adventure starting this coming Wednesday (June 9) set in the Dark Sun campaign setting. There's a search feature here to find participating stores in your area.

You don't have to bring a character this time since everyone is playing a pre-gen. It would probably be a good idea to bring dice and familiarize yourself with the quickstart rules (PDF) if you're completely new to the game. The whole idea with D&D Encounters is for it to be a drop-in game so you can play for a week or two or keep coming back for the whole season (12 weeks).

    Good episode.

I doubt even the titanic gravitational pull of PA will get me back into to D&D. Who knows, I guess. Maybe if my sons decide to play.

I hope Gabe's Magic addiction takes hold, though. It would be fun to see a game often similarly dismissed gain currency in the PA community.

I went back to the kitchen yesterday to grab a drink, and hearing the rasp of tearing foil in the next room wandered in to determine its source. Kiko and Gabriel looked up from the table, then, Magic cards spread from hell to breakfast, starter boxes split with the fury of their opening, a mixture of guilt and fear percolating up their faces. They were orchestrating some kind of card draft, frenzied and immediate, like they were bagging a huge mountain of coke in some halogen flooded sub-basement.

I assumed the unmistakable eyebrow crinkle/lip configuration that was like, "Magic, guys? Seriously?"

But Magic it was. They started with Pokemon, ironically I think, moving on to harder stuff like the WoW TCG, ever skirting the form's coiled All-Father. They are engaged in a perilous sort of business, here, but they'll never know it; not 'til ten years hence, looking into their own hollow eyes in the bathroom mirror, trying to scrub tiny flecks of foil which will not come off.

I tried playing a D & D type game once and I didn't really care for it so the episode wasn't my favorite. I was probably more excited seeing the Geek Chic Tower at the end of the episode - one of Jerry's past posts inspired me to buy one for my boyfriend.
