Ascendancy looks good but I can't bite. Seeing only 15 reviews for it I smell at least a sale If not mYve being a free app for a day (if sales are slow)
Ok, I want to know, and mainly I just want to know that I'm not the only one: which iPod games have caused you to almost throw or hit or smash your iPod? Mine are both EA games, Risk and Monopoly. Each over impossibly bad luck with rolls.
Angry Birds Level 3-6 almost has me to that point.
Edit: And I finally beat it after three days of trying. 1 star. Screw you, game.
I got Ascendancy back when it was originally released, and seeing it on my iPhone is awesome. It makes me wonder, though, how it even got there in the first place. Logic Factory seems to have been dead for nearly a decade and suddenly this?

Trying to 3 star every stage in Angry Birds has me a bit stressed from time to time.
First three worlds down... like, 7 more to go... ugh.

Let's play Mario Kart or something...
Hey, dunno if you guys saw already, but those who had previously been experiencing show-stopping bugs in Rimelands will be pleased to know that an update is now out that addresses said bugs. I didn't buy it previously because of hearing about those problems, but have now splashed and am enjoying it immensely. It's also retina-ised, although some elements still look a little lo-fi. Forewarning: apparently some ipad owners are having problems because the interface is too small.

Has anybody ever heard of iPod headphones getting quieter over time? It's happening with mine right now and I know it's not the iPod, because the moment I switched the headphones with different ones that volume went up an alarming degree. I'm going to call Apple tomorrow to get them swapped out because these are less than a year old, but has anybody else had this happen?

Yup - I thought they were just shoddy. One ear got slightly quieter, then the other, then both barely audible. I actually had that happen within 3 months of buying my iPod touch - didn't occur to me to get them replaced under warranty, and I was able to get far superior Sennheisers for £12 anyway that are showing no signs of age after a year.

Is there any way to teleport out of a dungeon? I'm quite near the end of the game (the mission where you have to sneak into a base full of invincible enemies) and despite completing the main objective, upon trying to get out I'm actually completely blocked off - the only corridor out is blocked by a single invincible enemy. Dying just resets me back 2 square to the door. A shame, as I was quite enjoying it up to that point.

For me it would be a free iPad game called Can Knockdown.
Normally I wouldn't care except for the fact that a friend and I were in a high score competition so i was basically forced to try to get a higher score and I just kept getting madder and madder.

The stock iPhone/iPad earbuds are just flat awful. Bad sound quality, bad fit in your ear, just bad bad bad. Do yourself a favor and pick up some better ones. If you want to go cheap, you can't beat Skullcandy. Yeah yeah yeah, I thought they were catering to the Hot Topic crowd too, but they're surprisingly well constructed and have good sound quality.
But if you're willing to go extravagant, some of the headphones that cost upwards of $80 can be worth it, especially if you plan on using them daily. I got some $80 Sony earbuds for my birthday, and the sound on those are absolutely fantastic. And I'm not really an audiophile. They don't fit in my ear quite as well as the Skullcandy ones, but that just may be my weird ears.

I have a $19 pair of Samsung "behind the ear/wraparound" headphones that I've used for the better part of two years now as my primary headphones; I've stepped on them at the gym, ran in the rain with them, super-glued the sheath of the connector back on (twice!), and even stolen windsocks off other headphones for. They just. Won't. Die. And they still have great sound quality.

They made another game after Ascendancy, announced Ascendancy 2 about a decade ago. They also mentioned some sort of MMO version of it too. None never came except for the Tone Rebellion.
I think they just lacked the capital to develop and put out a new product. iPhone is a great way to make something again.
So how is the AI? I remember that the AI was basically non-acting in the vanilla release. They released an AI module, but it was almost to hard.
No, not really. I usually have mine connected to wifi 90% of the time. It doesn't seem to lose more than a percent an hour, if I'm just connected to wifi.
I actually seem to have noticed greater drain when I'm using 3G, because wifi isn't available. I haven't run any tests, so this is just an impression. This is with a 4. I used to have a 3G iPhone and it sucked for battery, and my gf's 3Gs isn't a whole lot better. (It's also possible that the 3Gs just "sucks" because she never stops playing Words with Friends, or Facebook, or whatever )

Weird. I leave it connected to wifi at home all day and it's fine, but at work the battery goes from 90% in the morning to 40% at night with me doing absolutely nothing with it. I wonder if it's the cellular radio and not the wifi, the reception in here is terrible.

That could be it. Cell phones use up more battery power when they're straining to find a weak signal. I went to the Jon Stewart rally in D.C. last year, and the 250,000 people there caused the network to die horribly. The battery in my iPhone (and the batteries in several other unrelated phones, I later found out) took quite a hit in those four hours, much more than usual.
going way back, @Bioptic:
Sorry, i don't think there is a way to warp out of dungeons, or at least, not that i've seen, sorry! How bout asking over at the thread on toucharcade? (Sorry, lamest advice ever, i know.)
One night, during a storm, my phone dropped 40% over night while being in a spot in the house that usually got bad reception anyway.
Now that I have one of those Micro 3g things from AT&T, my battery is a champ.
Micro 3G thing?
Its a thing you plug into your router and it creates 3g coverage in your house using your internet connection.
Micro-cell is the name. I get totally terrible reception without it, as I live on the bottom floor of a condo unit, so I have 2 places above me, lots of trees, and I'm half underground.

The thing really is awesome. AT&T should ve given them away for free.

Free definitely would have been nicer than the $150 I had to pay, that's for sure. But it was worth it, as otherwise my phone was pretty much useless at home. And since no company gets flawless reception in my place, I didn't really have other options.

Well I have a pair of Bang & Olufsen headphones which will blow your balls off, but I use the Apple ones because it's a pain in the ass having to pull your iPod out of your pocket every damn time you need to pause or adjust volume, instead of just clicking a button next to your ear. If only there were some sort of patch through adapter so I could get those controls and be able to use my 250 dollar ear buds then I'd be in hog heaven.
Has anyone played Hellsing's Fire? At first glance, it looks awesome, but I'm curious as to how many new mechanics are rolled out through the game to keep it exciting.

They constantly introduce new enemies. So you as a player don't get new abilities or weapons, but you have to constantly re-evaluate how to tackle the puzzles because enemies A and C are there instead of enemies B and D. Each enemy reacts differently to your tonics, and that's where the variety and challenge comes from.

Quick question. I called up Apple about my screwed up iPod earbuds, and they said I was out of warranty and to pound sand. Thing is that I got my earbuds replaced just a couple months ago because my last pair was screwing up. So do I have any course of action what so ever? It feels kinda lame that I just got these things replaced and the new ones break within a couple of months, but they are counting the warranty on the last pair.
The thing is that your warranty coverage is from the date of purchase, not from the date of your last warranty replacement. I think they give you something like a thirty-day guarantee on all service jobs, but if you've had your replacement set for a few months that won't really help you. If you have an Apple Store near you it's worth going in person - the Genius Bar tend to play it much looser with headphone replacements than phone customer support - but from an official policy standpoint you're SOL.
Today I Die Again is one of those pixelly arty indie things that you either love or love to hate. Takes all of 20 minutes to dick about and find your way to the end so you'd be annoyed if you paid for it even if it is quite clever. Good job it's free for today then!

GoF1 isn't bad, and for free it's a lot of fun, but 2 just blows 1 away. And for $10, it better. There's even a trial if you're iffy about it.

ReeeEEEEEeeeally. I may have to turn the iPhone's wifi back on for this.
Speaking of which, does anyone else's battery drain like mad while connected to wifi?
My battery is godly, and is always connected to wifi.

Yes my battery drains like crazy on Wifi and it's an iPod so no cell excuses here.
That's weird. My phone has been sitting next to me, connected to wifi, unplugged for 8 hours, and is at 98%.
