Come on, Bafana. These are just little, basic things you have to be able to do. You have to make passes like that.

Is that what that dull droning noise is in the background?

Those are the vuvuzelas you've heard so much about. It was this, every minute of every match during the Confederations Cup last year.

Every. Single. Second. You can't even hear the whistle.

    Eh, it's not that bad.

I'll take the Bee Apocalypse over the idiots with drums at every MLS game.

Yeah those horns make me want to choke people.

I also want to choke the NOS, because they said "we have a tested capacity for 120k viewers" yet at roughly 40k viewers their website exploded.

    Nice going.

Drums at least have some sort of beat. This is constant... I'm seriously going insane here. I can't imagine how the players are coping.

I'm wearing my England top at work today. I already got a, "Did you forget which country you live in?" comment.

Look, I'm kind of ashamed of the US national team. Sorry for backing our cousins who will probably train wreck just as badly as we do.

    Good for you.

    We're not!

(and I very much doubt you (royal you) would either).

Let's not get into this argument. I'm not supporting England. Simple as that.

South Africa needs to switch the field when they are attacking. They are bunching up too much on one side and not even looking to open up the middle

    Oh, I see. Perfectly understandable.

For anyone not in the know, the Scots always support whoever England is playing against. It could be Pol Pot's Choice 11 Great Monsters From History and the Tartan Army would be bellowing them on against the Auld Enemy. It's just the way it is and no one really minds this side of the border.

Hell, we think it's kind of cute. Besides, it gives the Scots something to do while the World Cup is on because it's for damn sure they won't be playing themselves.

ESPN 3 has their highlight system going for the WC. They usually don't for soccer games, but now it will mark where a big play happened and you can rewind back to it. That will be useful

They briefly considered it after the Confederations Cup.

They decided against it; it's too much a part of the South African soccer experience. In fact, while doing the club-soccer book, I've been finding them all over southern Africa.

South African guy: "Wait, seriously, I'm getting carded? Come on!
