John Wooden, UCLA basketball coach in the 60's and 70's, died today at age 99

He had some great rules on practicing and on life, and ran off some incredible records. So yeah, be sad for the loss of a genuinely good guy.

    My wife's work takes care of one of his grandkids (greatgrandkid?). Anyway, I think they had a signed basketball donated for their last fund raiser. Seems simple in retrospect, but that would have been a good thing to bid on.

    That was Lew Alcindor, later to be known as Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. 7 feet, two inches tall. So that makes Wooden, what? About 5'11"?
