How is the community on IR? I've started on badlands (destro), but there seems to be an excessive amount of stupid in the chaos T1 region chat there (far worse than i saw on volkmar when I was playing the trial). It is nice having nearly instant SC pops, but I've had to turn off nearly all chat to play, and it seems like no one talks in the sc chat to coordinate

Umm its the same across all the war servers unfortunately. A bunch of trial accounts looking to see how long it takes for them to get banned mixed with a bunch of new people trying to figure out how to buy their skills... Then you hit T2 & T3 where its a lot more dead, but at least people have a grip on how to play... After 1.3.6 we'll see with the LotD changes. The good thing is if you powerlevel through T2 & T3 you can catch your RR up pretty damn fast.
T4 took a hit across the board from Starcarft 2, but there is still city pushes/nearly insta scen pops on destro.
I'm actually kinda scared with the stuff coming out in the next year to distract the non-hardcore WAR Player. Starcraft 2 (for the next 2 months), then FFXIV (For about two months), then WoW's next expansion... I think this one is about furries... (For about 3 months), then Knights of the Old Republic Online (PvP Tie fighter in space?!!? How could this be bad, I give it 4 months)...
Normally I would be pretty confident the population would bounce back after a couple months for people to burn out on the ladder matches in SC2, but it really looks like there is a lot of candy spaced out in 2-3 month windows which could really keep the population depressed for an extended time.
I mean I like this game, I don't really raid at all. I avoid PvE like the plague, I'll run Cities when their up cause well ya gotta... But I'm noticing I'm treating it more and more like a Shooter over an actual MMO, I hop in vent spot some friends, get in game play a few rounds and say goodnight. The gear is pretty much paced along with your RR if you start fresh you should have no problem keeping geared through annihilator, conq, invade, warlord etc... So there is any real extra work there, its kinda a surreal experience.
I love the competitive side of premade versus premade, premade versus Warband, I suffer through premade versus pug cause well they still give candy and I'll pug it when no-one else is on but I know friends are coming. But the normal MMO hooks of gear, loot/leveling aren't motivational to me at all right now.
Anyone else finding the same or worried about future game spacing?

I was worried the moment they had to start merging servers at release. I'm not even quite sure what they were expecting, a launch release boom like WoW?
They marketed to a PvP crowd, but did little to actually mature their RvR experience. At first zone flipping was impossible, then too hard, now they're too easy. They really didn't seem to have a long term plan and instead of trying to realize a vision they were just doing damage control with player expectations.
I think there maybe a core fanbase that sticks with the game until Dark Millenium comes out, but I expect that if SW:TOR has any kind of PvP things are gonna be grim.

To be fair this was more the community's fault then it was Mythic's.
They had less servers planned for launch but then the big guilds at the time got upset that there wouldn't be enough room to space out so they pressured Mythic into adding more. Mythic should not have caved.
Edit: I am also going to test to see if time has fixed my isues with getting the game to run. If it has then I'll grab a referral from Arthil and jump back in again. If not It'll have to wait till I get my new rig built.

well, except that coping with the raving assholes in the userbase is one of the key demands on an MMO dev. If that was all it was -- i.e., big guilds wanting more space -- then I think the majority of the blame still falls on Mythic.
But my hunch is that what happened was a combination of the above and Mythic's own wishcasting. Say what you will about Barnett and Jacobs, but it seems like those guys really believed that their game was the best thing going. They'd been telling everyone -- and getting told -- that the game was going to be the WoW-killer. Combine that with an initially very enthusiastic fan response, and my hunch is they just believed the hype a little bit too much.
In any case, it speaks to some fairly serious planning fuckups that some launch servers were among those that got axed in the first round of consolidations. RIP Averheim.

So, do we have a roster list of all the PA folks? What server they're on and what factions?
So, do we have a roster list of all the PA folks? What server they're on and what factions?
I don't think theres an official list anywhere, though most of us have posted up that info. From what I remember:
Kendrik - Iron Rock - Destro (Order Alts on Badlands)
Detharin - Iron Rock - Destro
Morninglord - Iron Rock - Destro (Order Alts on Badlands)
Arthil - Badlands - Destro (Order Alts on Iron Rock)
Hyku - Iron Rock - Destro
Transporter - Iron Rock - Destro
eatmosushi - Iron Rock - Order?
ghost_master2000 - Iron Rock - Destro (re-subbing soon)
FWIW, my main on IR is a 49 Chosen (Kendrik) and I also have a 25 DoK (Kendrek). Feel free to look me up if you're looking for good times. Also, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have any issues getting you into Schism on at least a trial basis if you're not a complete asshat. We're part of the Ravenhost Alliance which is one of the most active RvR alliances on the server these days, so there's usually some action to be had.

About to make that AM mincemeat and laugh at their corpse? NO! You CTD! Turn in a direction the game doesn't like? CTD!

If it's any consolation, the perceived large community on badlands, along with your posts, convinced me to start my destro chars on there once I bought the game. Given the garbage in gen chat, however, I'm wondering if Iron Rock is a better server overall than Badlands. Loving my 11 WE on Badlands however!
We were hoping for some high level competition, we would rather a good fight than completely stomping lowbies. We were going to get our champs to strip, but were locked in combat and I couldn't take off my armor. I will say I love being a 40ft tall black orc, although from your perspective it probably is downright scary.
<Vindication> typically is high RR competition, but they were lazy and brought their alts, and <Sons of Sigmar>, the flagship guild in their alliance imploded.
Tag on the fact that we were light on healers and it was ugly.
Honestly, the main difference on IR is that while your RR80's are semi-concentrated into two or three alliances, ours is spread across the zerg.
So occasionally you'll get a party or so of badasses, but not full warband premades like yours .

So once they booted all the freeloaders the population plummeted and they needed to consolodate it again. The alternative to all the extra servers would have been WoW launch levels of server crashing from being overpopulated until all the headstart time was gone anyway.

Not as concentrated as you might imagine. In Cult Of Skaro it is pretty much me, vindictae, and Proavus who are 80. The rest of the warband was a couple of former Blackthornes who joined up since they are having some issues, and a group from the DL alliance. Heck I think total we had 22 people, 2 were pugs, and I doubt more than 6 of us were RR 80. With the rift magus pulling, and vind AOEbombing it can get pretty damage intensive. I wasn't hitting people for crap even though I was a partial DPS spec.
Of course it doesn't help your cause when people insist on targeting me. Im 8 feet tall, 4 feet wide, wearing metal plates and hiding behind a garage door. What about this screams TARGET THAT GUY!
Honestly destro is nowhere near as organized these days as we were say two months ago. We have lost a lot of our big leaders, and numbers are down likely at least until the patch. That should prove interesting with the changes to sovereign. Ill be even harder to kill, and DPS numbers will be even higher. It should be a blast.
Morninglord: NP I waiting around for a bit, got sucked into a failed castle attempt, then decided to call it a night. Not sure how much I will be on tomorrow however. Catch me in a week, but agreed the important thing is now you have me on friends and know when I am online.
WarhammerAlliance.com is about the closest you'll find, where it all started, and where we've ended up more or less. Shit the Bioware site wont even let me stay logged in long enough to make a damn post!
God, every time I read this thread I want to resub right away because I remember how much fun I had in t1-t3. I just have to keep reminding myself how much I got gangbanged in T4. Must...hold...off... till next patch.
