    It is probably only for game, as movie is dated for 2013, and Sub-Zero's picture is same as in leaked render.

    I'm hoping it is a reboot for the game series. It could really use a cleaning up and this seems to be the perfect way to do it. They can keep the same powers and stuff without resorting to stupid other dimension BS.

    I always felt Mortal Kombat was at its best when it reveled in the goofiness of the concept. This, however, doesn't hold much appeal to me.

    Good production values, but man if this is for the game, I really have no interest in it whatsoever.

    I'm guessing they're going to try to go with a def jam vendetta sort of vibe, which I just can't feel with Moooooorrrttttaaaallll kombat.

    I really hope that isnt a new film, that was some atrocious acting all wrapped into one trailer. For a cheesey MK reboot game that would be acceptable, for a full length film, it looks like a flop in the making.

    So it's basically a gritty MK set in the real world? Where I bet like, instead of blade arms the guy carries swords or something. Sort of like The Legend of Chun Li.

    That actually looks pretty cool. The old Mortal Kombat got far too comical as time went on. I also like it that Scorpion is the "main character" or whatever, he was always my favourite.

    Okay, I saw more of it.

    That was terrible no matter what way you cut it. If it's for a game, the game is going to probably suck or at least not be what MK is. If it's for a movie, well it speaks for itself. Terrible acting, terrible lighting, it feels like a satire that doesn't know it's a satire.

    edit: Since it seems pretty clear it's the setup for a game, I really don't like what direction they're going in for the game. Trying to make it "realistic" is just the dumbest dumbest move ever.

    Looks like a really entertaining b-movie, I'd watch a full length movie of that and play the shit out of it if the game is in the same style.

    Also, it still looks pretty over the top to me. They just toned down the supernatural elements.

    I don't think realism was their goal here, unless you don't consider a psychotic doctor who augmented his hands with blades and a ninja being freed by the cops so that he can join a martial arts tournament (and snitch for them at the same time) over the top, that is.

    That looks absolutely terrible. MK's plot/characters can never be taken seriously, they need to camp it up a bit or it won't even reach 'so bad it's good' territory.

    Also why would you kill Johnny Cake before it's even started.

    I was just about to say, if nothing else, this at least had something in common with Mortal Kombat: Annihilation that I liked. Them killing Johnny Cage right off the bat. Always hated that guy.
