Using computer monitor to play video games

Is it possible to use an apple display to play video games? It's got a male dvi port, and i'm trying to hook it up to consoles (the wii specifically, but I've got a couple older ones as well) with the standard RBY composite cables.
Naturally they don't fit together, but I'm wondering if there's some sort of adapter or converter box that won't cost an arm and a leg that'll do the job? Google isn't turning up anything, but I'm not an expert with consumer electronics so maybe I'm not using the right terms.
If there's nothing out there like I'm describing then I can buy a cheap flat-panel tv, but I'd prefer to avoid that if I can since I don't watch much TV or anything.
I think you need something like a Component to DVI converter for the WII and likely some other gizmo for the other consoles. And then you 're only part of the way because the monitor also has to play nice with the resolution you feed it. I'd look for a TV instead.
