help me find a new ds game for my mom

My mom just called me today cause she just finished the new edgeworth game(very sad that it was over because it was so awesome) and has no idea what to play now; I don't either. She's played all the phoenix wright games, both zelda game, and plowed through the sudoku in the brain age games.
She's more of a casual gamer. She loved the phoenix wright games. and while she got thought the zelda games she would get frustrated at times and need help. At those times she'd tell me that she hated the dumb game and that she was only playing it because I asked her to. also she likes card games.

So can anyone recommend the next game I should get for her?

Aww nutsack.

Hotel Dusk, a great noir-style DS adventure game with a cool visual style.

The Rune Factory series might appeal too, it's essentially a mash of Harvest Moon and a light RPG.

I have to go along with the Layton series as well. They're fantastic games for anyone.

I forgot to mention I got her picross a while back (great game I'm working my way through free mode now)
she thought it was dumb. she doesn't have patience for games that take a while to figure out. I'd thought of the Layton games but I'm afraid she'll just go " this is dumb why do you have to solve all these puzzles.":?
she's in her sixties so somethings she doesn't get the point of games.

Call me crazy, but I am totally willing to give your mom the benefit of the doubt. What made you like games? Is there a reason that what converted you would make her angry? Seems like you have a common ground, why try to dumb down what you love for her sake? Start at square one and move on. Did Myst grab you? Return to Zork? There are so many games worth playing, if your mom can get through a Zelda game she has the tools to do so many things.

truthfully i think hotel dusk might be the best idea... it's a game with a good story line and it's not just simple puzzles. she seems from what you say to want something more than just basic might be a good idea

Based on the list of games you mentioned and the limed part, it sounds like she needs something with a little replayability to it.

And does her DS have a GBA slot? There's another world of potential games there too.

When you say that she's played the Phoenix Wright games, does that include the Apollo Justice and Miles Edgeworth ones?

I'm out of the loop when it comes to DS gaming and have no idea if they're considered the same series despite being in the same universe.

Super Scribblenauts is coming out soon, and it looks pretty crazy good

Also I echo Layton and Hotel Dusk if she liked PW

EDIT: Don't get her the original Scribblenauts, it's too frustrating for non-twitch gamers

Hell, it's frustrating for twitch gamers too

Yes, he now moves with the D-pad and jumps with A or B, I forget which

Also, there's no Par anymore so you're encouraged to do complicated solutions

    And ADJECTIVES!

As for the level design itself, I don't think anybody knows for sure, but adjectives ought to simplify things at least a little

Your mom has good taste in video games.

I wanted to second Mario & Luigi : Bowser's Inside Story. Well written, good pace, funny, cute, it's fantastic. And Layton, of course.
