I never had problems with the DC's Dpad. And I played a ton of fighters. I also preferred the cord on the bottom, it just worked with the way that controller is shaped.

My problem with JSRF is it's just slower than the original. A few stages in you're doing fine, and then it makes you do an obstacle course in the sewer. And if you fall you have to start all over. And it takes forever. Then the next stage makes you wallk (or grind if you're lucky enough not to fall off and start all over, again) up a gigantic staircase so you can spraypaint a boss. You then slide off his far side and have to climb up again. You need to do this about five times.

I gave up on this stage.

Wasn't really for fighters... My friend had one of those unsanctioned programs running on his Dreamcast, and when we tried to input the Konami Code we had to restart about 4 or 5 times because it was tough to get up up down down left right left right b a start to work correctly.

Seems as good a time as any, so I started playing Maken X again. The voice acting and graphics haven't aged so well.

The gameplay was really fun, though. It's a first person action RPG slasher, kind of. You get to brainjack bosses and use them as playable characters in later levels.

thps I kept because I fucking loved those games and even though I got them for xbox later, I could never part with the originals after the time I spent on them.

shenmue just cause you know, it's an interesting game to own. never played all that much of it.

SC5 is best on the DC.

And Maken X is just as good as I remember, terrible VA aside. So much depth. Are there any other FPS*s where you can lock onto enemies, jump over them, and cut them to shreds?

    So glad I opened it

Also just found maken x and dino crisis in my storage space. Both games I got right as the last dreamcast died soo I never actually played them. Its like christmas!

I picked up a third copy of JSR on the off chance that something happened to my second copy (my first got scratched all to hell when I loaned it out once). Several years later, it's still sealed. Maybe I should do a little giveaway here.

The only issue I've ever had is the blue translucent controller that I used with my Dreamcast initially (Even over the pack-in) had a very mushy d-pad, but only when pressing right. As if it wasn't making very good contact with the board inside or something.

So I think Im alone in this, but honestly - I am way, way too excited for Sonic Adventure on XBLA today. It's goddamn HALO REACH day, and I am going home, plunking down my 800 points, and reliving 9-9-99 tomorrow.

I am fully aware it's mostly nostalgia. I've said that, but seriously this game is engrained in my memory as one of the best times in my life. I was 16, had my first summer job, first girlfriend, and life was good. I saw a Dreamcast kiosk at a Best Buy, put down all my summer lifeguarding money, and pre-ordered a DC on Sonic Adventure. I played that game to death, put the Chaos in my VMU for Study Halls, and it opened up the extremely creative door to the world of what the Dreamcast was doing.

I still have the Sonic Adventure disc, although it's a little punchy sometimes. I haven't had time to do a full playthrough in a couple years. But I just can't believe the amount of CONTENT we're getting for $10 today. I really disliked the Amy levels, but honestly thought Big the Cat's was funny and a departure when I needed a break. Six seperate playthroughs, each level with multiple goals (A, B and C ranks), and all the chao shit. SO much stuff for $10.

I looked up a YouTube video of this because I expected it to be gimped in some way. It had to be. Sonic's genesis games on XBLA have that horrible menu interface, so this has to be too. It has to be like, just Sonic's level, and the other 6 guys are DLC. It has to have cut SOMETHING. I hadn't heard anything about achievements or ANYTHING, so I figured it was a bad sign.

It's the exact same game. Man - that opening movie is still so awesome. And the second I saw Sonic grab a seal and a penguin I remembered how much fun I had making insane animal combos in the Chao garden. And that reminded me of where I found the Gold egg, and the other rare ones. And I had totally forgot about the emblems.

Seriously, I am so excited for this, and I know it's stupid. But I am going to play the HELL out of this straight up until Dead Rising 2 launches.

I've heard the 14th (today, since the PSN updates on Tuesdays now), the 15th (when it's supposed to hit XBLA), and I've also heard the 21st, so I was curious.

    Reviews are trickling in.

IGN UK gave Sonic Adventure for PSN/XBLA a 3.5
While it's difficult to comment on whether the game feels more broken in downloadable arcade form than it did for its US release on the Dreamcast, there is an unmistakeably rushed and shoddy air to the presentation of the port.

For posterity's sake, IGN gave Sonic Adventure for the Dreamcast an 8.6

    1UP gave the XBLA version a D.
    50089c00420.gif

Sega is dumb. They should have added space marines, regenerating health, horse armor DLC, rank-based multiplayer, and a sex minigame.

I love the part in the review where he says:

1 - The game is exactly like the Dreamcast version, which was fun.
2 - The game is not fun now.
3 - Go buy it and a Dreamcast and then it will be fun again...?
4 - You should be able to buy a Dreamcast and Sonic Adventure for the same price as this.

    My reactions:

    1- Agreed, good sir!
2 - But if it's exactly the same, why did it stop being fun?
3 - Wait why? You just said it wasn't fun and now you want me to go buy another CONSOLE AND THE GAME and that will make this IDENTICAL version that I can get without leaving my couch fun?
4 - The download is $10. Im yet to see a Dreamcast in a store for less than $30. EBay has the cheapest one with the auction ending soon at around $15 plus shipping. The average price for Sonic Adventure on EBay with auctions ending soon is $20. Both of those numbers are higher than 10.

I hate IGN. I know a lot of people don't think it's a good game, and thats fine. I disagree, but I can see why some people don't like it. But to somehow imply that it's more worth your time and money to go buy a DC and the game is rediculous. You just said it's an identical game (and even mentioned smoother graphics). If you think it sucks, why would you tell people to go spend more money to play it sucking in the way it was originally intended to suck?

Also my Chaos will destroy all of yours.
