Hey

You remember Breath of Death VII: The Beginning? It's an XBL Indie Game? It's made by RainbowDespair and slash000, two pretty well known posters here? It's a buck? Featured on Yahoo? Been labeled by some reviewers, with complete seriousness, as the RPG GOTY, beating out such illustrious titles as FFXIII, Resonance of Fate, and Mass Effect 2?

Not ringing a bell? Ah, okay. Well, it's pretty good, you might want to get it.

Anyways RBD and slash have been hinting as to what their (Zeboyd Games') new XBLIG is going to be, and today they've formerly announced it.

Previously to today, the hints were:
1 – The main character was originally going to share a weapon with a certain famous vampire slayer, but in the end, we switched back to swords since it’s like a law to have a sword-wielding main character in RPGs.

2 – At one point, we were going to have 3 main stats to track in combat – HP, MP, and a third stat, but we got rid of the third stat since we felt it made things overly complicated and we could do what we wanted just being clever with regular abilities and passive effects. I suppose we could get rid of another stat as well, but it would have to be MP since HP is essential.

3 – Our next game is not Breath of Death VIII, but there’s a really vague clue there if you do a bit of word association.

4 – You can make a comedy out of just about anything if you try hard enough and aren’t a stickler for accuracy.

5 – If you made an acronym out of the title, it would be CSTW.

6 – Oh and since I’m a nice guy, I’ll give you one of the words in the title. The.

Well, today RainbowDespair formerly announced the title, Cthulu Saves The World!

Here's some cover art:

Cthulhu-Boxart7.png

Later on today there should be a press release/screenshot release, so this OP'll be updated

So, assuming this is a new RPG in the vein of BoD VII, what improvements are you hoping will be included/what will stay the same, etc? Me personally, my major complaint was was the lack of save points between the one before the subway and the end of the sewer, especially considering how difficult the sewer was. It was really really aggravating doing a ten minute plus trek back to the save point from the sewer in the vague hopes I don't get my shit wrecked

As a matter of fact I really didn't like the sewer in general. I mean it had good enemies and stuff but it was such a pain to navigate/so far removed from save points it really pissed me off to die there. Maybe it's a parody of how much sewer levels suck, in which case it worked too well

Oh yeah, one rule for this thread: DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, DISCUSS (READ : COMPLAIN) ABOUT WHICH PLATFORM OR PLATFORMS THIS OR BREATH OF DEATH VII SHOULD BE PORTED TO ONCE RBD/SLASH ANNOUNCE THEM. IT IS ANNOYING AS HELL AND REALLY FUCKING UNNECESSARY. DON'T DO IT.

It took us 3 months to finish BoD7. We're aiming for a late August release for Cthulhu Saves the World.

Ok, absolutely no interest in this Cthulu concept. I know nothing of it. The only place I've ever heard of it is PA.

But since its Zeboyd games, could someone tell me why I should be excited?

Another reason I wish I had a 360. This sounds fantastic, big congrats guys! I wonder if we can expect any kind of character cameo's from BOD, since that seemed to be fairly common in the JRPG world.

Cthulhu is a creation of the writer HP Lovecraft. It's a strange, alien thing that should not be able to exist in a rational universe.

Currently, Cthulhu is slumbering deep beneath the waves. At one point, it very nearly woke up and drove a bunch of people all over the world insane.

When Cthulhu does wake up, human civilisation will end.

That's... kind of the gist of it.

So I am totally day one for this before any screens come out even. That said something about the box art is bothering me slightly... The right side of the title overlapping the border seems to break the perspective of the artwork. Just a nitpick, can't wait to see the screens!!

Day 1, whenever this comes out.

My one beef about this is that even though it's cliche to have a sword-wielding hero, Cthulhu's so badass, he doesn't need a sword. Just reality-bending, mind-warping powers. And legions of monsters from R'lyeh.

This reminds me: Did you know that young kittens can't retract their claws? Yah, I didn't either until we started taking care of our friends cat and her litter of kittens while they move.

No idea why this is important, but just something to keep in mind: Young kittens can't retract their claws. This could lead to some hilarious flashback moments with a kitten and his gunclaw, that he can't retract.

You know, I got the Xbox360 for my partner to enjoy Mass Effect 2 on and all that. He had set up his credit card on it, but we never bought anything from the Arcade. In fact, the first online game purchase we made was BoDVII, and I bought a 1600 points card for that.

Now there's 1520 points left, and I swear I might as well just save up those points exclusively for your XBL indie games. My 240 points are yours.
