Wife wants to go to Comic Con...sold out!

Are there any other avenues I can take to acquire a couple tickets?
She is turning 30, her request was to go to Comic Con...god I love this woman...but 2010 Comic Con sold out in like weeks after they went on sale.

Anyone know a way to score some tickets? Has anyone ever been? Can you possibly purchase them there?

That's going to be a tough one. If they're sold out, there won't be any for sale at the venue. Ebay has 3 listings right now, ranging from $100 to $700.

Check Stubhub.com closer to the event. They have a listing for Comic Con but no actual tickets yet.

Wait, aren't SDCC tickets nontransferable? As in they go to the person that bought them and no one else?

    Registration rules.

You might be out of luck.

When I went the tickets were indeed nontransferable. Seems they still are if I'm reading it right.

I don't know where you live, and these aren't the SDCC, but you might try one of the Wizard World conventions if you can't make San Diego.

    TRANSFER/RESALE POLICY:

Reselling, reusing or transferring a Comic-Con membership is strictly prohibited.

    So this sucks ass.
    Thanks for the link.
And I will definitely check out the Wizard World cons.

Hm, in the past they'd had a registration name change period. I guess they stopped doing that.

I heard that changed to tame the scalpers.

the SDCC usually sells a bunch of returned passes nearer to the convention. they usually announce it on their website, and sell passes under an official eBay account.

not sure if they've stopped the practice this year...

It depends really. My wife LOVES ComicCon, but doesn't really care about PAX. Where ComicCon is movies, comics, etc. PAX is pretty much vidya games and tech.

Unfortunately, Comic Con has grown too big for its britches. The San Diego Convention Center just isn't big enough anymore, plus some moron decided to put the tickets up for sale eight months before the convention started, which is completely fucking ridiculous.
I wanted to go to Comic Con, too.

Hrrrm. In the three years I lived there, early September is not something I remember as "cold and wet". Maybe you're sensitive though? Who knows?:P

Moot point though as his wife isn't into it.

And yeah, Comic Con isn't what it used to be. I went ten years ago and from looking at coverage of recent years, it looks WAY more movie focused than ever. Honestly, you're not missing much other than a crush of Twitards.

We went in 08 and had a blast. Sure it's crowded, but it's still fun as hell. And really, who gives a shit if a bunch of twilight (or whatever else) fans are there.
