2) Scott Pilgrim not only takes place in Toronto, but seems to embrace this fact, and yet I'm not sure the developers of the game did the same. I may just need to see more, but the subway seemed off...
I believe it was actually a TTC streetcar.
But you're right - I'd love if this came across as a "Toronto City Ransom".
After having recently finished the last book and having seen the movie, I've been on a Scott Pilgrim high. I'm actually considering getting this game, and on the Ubisoft site for a discount. Problem is, I don't have a 2nd controller (nor friends) for that local coop goodness...
Sorta feels like a waste. I get what they were going for (huddled around the arcade machine) but I wish they had some online coop.
They both seem to enjoy it well enough. The main complaints are a lack of drop-in multi/online multi and Eurogamer seems to hate the fact that it's a brawler because brawlers are outdated? I disagree but hey
Yeah I've had it pre-ordered I just thought for second that it wasn't 10 bucks without a pre-order because these guys are talking about saving 6 bucks.
Well, crap. When I try to order it from Ubisoft's site for the discount, it tells me that my billing address is already in their system even though I've never ordered anything from them or even registered on their site.
Man, this game is pretty tough. I'm maining Ramona and just got my ass handed to me by the demon hipster chicks. And it's that type of game where you can't just continue where you left off. Back to the beginning with you!

It's up, they just don't have it under new games or anything that I saw
I had to go look for the title specifically and it was there
Also, man, this game can be pretty brutal prior to unlocking Back Attack and Counter Attack, because you can and will get surrounded and stun locked often.
By the time I finished the first boss I had no lives left and was pretty low on health. (Then again I only realized maybe 3/4 of the way through the stage that you can go into the stores and get food to restore health)
I took plenty of damage just hitting garbage cans off walls and back into my face. Not to mention people comboing my ass and attacking me while I'm laid out on the ground.

I might have done better if I read the help file before playing through the first stage, because I had no idea about Super Attacks/Summoning Knives/Catching Thrown Items.
Still, this is a fairly difficult game all things said and done. It might get a bit easier later on as you unlock new abilities, but at least right off the bat I'm pleasantly surprised by how much I got wrecked.

It's definitely old school difficulty. At first I was pissed, but then after a few minutes I was ten years old again, playing TMNT on the NES and getting so pissed off at the game that I had to beat it just to show it who was boss.

This is exactly that kind of game. I used to be able to beat TMNT 2 on Nintendo without using any continues, but when I first got the game? Yeeeaaah...
I'm maining Stills for now. Slow moving, but as the helpfiles state (and just like River City Ransom) you can increase your main stats with food. Wallace's Secret Shop is right there in the first stage, too, and 4 of his items give massive boosts to each one of your main stats, but for a pretty $100+.
I'm right now working on repeating the first stage over and over again to rack up the $500 and change to pay off SP's video overdue charges. I wonder what that'll give...
Also, My first time through I beat the first boss with a sliver of life left. As he was dying I got hit by a minion and got a game over. Had to start over. That kind of sucked.

I know one of the shops sells an extra life, and I want to say it was either in the record store, or in the book store. Pretty sure it isn't one of the items in Wallace's shop.
I have SF4 knockdown recoveries engraved in my brain. Getting knocked down can feel like an eternity at times, even though I know its only like 2 seconds.

I simply love the music in this game.

If you're a PS3 owner, you get it today, whenever the Store updates (within the next few hours)
If you're a 360 owner, August 25th.
Blame their retarded policies for Summer of Arcade (SoA games have to be 360-exclusive for a time, and this year they all have to be priced at $15).

How about 6 dollars off? That's the motivation I needed.
Oh yeah, I just assumed it was gonna be $10, I'm off to correct my error in judgement

I only read the first two volumes I borrowed from a friend. Tonight I intend on re-reading them and starting on the third volume.
I hope I can hold off on playing the game until I finish reading the comics.
