The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
At one point in my life I remember having an incredibly obscure FF album. It was filled with arranged compositions and one notable track was "maybe I'm a lion" where the guitar would trade off with a drummer. It had really high production quality, and usually each song would be a mix of two themes from two different games.
I've been searching for an hour now with no luck...anyone know what I'm talking about? It's in the same vein as serenade or preludio.
I'm pretty sure that "Maybe I'm a lion" was something from FF 7...? Or 9?
The "S Generation" and "N Generation" soundtracks just had songs directly from the various games, not remixes.... so...
Go to aol.com and open up the radio player. They have both a video game soundtracks channel and a Final Fantasy channel. That particular song is played on one or the other sometimes, and when it plays you can mouse-over the album image to get information on it.
That's the fastest way I can think of to get the info you're looking for.
If it is, then yeah it's from the album called Final Fantasy Remix. It's 50 bucks new on amazon (must be an import?) but maybe you could find it cheaper elsewhere.
There was no synth in it really - it opened up with a heavy drum pattern and then segued into trading off with an amazing improvisational riff with a guitarist. They had a bit of back and forth.

Yeah, can't find anything without synth. Can't find anything that mixes themes from multiple games really either. At least not ones that include that song.
You might be looking for something unlicensed. Rugged.
Found it...it ended up actually being a second album by Serenade made in 2005 that no one ever talks about...ever. Worst part is none of the songs are titled by what they actually are.
But in case you were wondering what it sounded like...
I know! I'm sorry! The three predominant instruments that I remembered were the drums, piano and guitar and I said to myself...there couldn't have been synth.

The Black Mages II - The Skies Above is the album.
Edit: Apparently there was a Final Fantasy Remix album that was trance or dance versions of songs, and Maybe I'm a Lion was one of those.
